Traditional With A Twist | Retro Look | Bell Sleeves

What is the most intriguing fact about That 70’s show except the dumbness of Ashton Kutcher’s  character? well, for me its the wrap around blouses & bell bottom pants with wedge heels, SAVAGE!!!

The 70’s has returned. The bell bottoms, the bell sleeves, the retro look is back. But you just can’t go full throttle 70’s. You have to add your taste and creativeness to the fashion. When I was looking for an inspiration for the 2nd installment of my #SareeSeries , I loved the idea of bell sleeves for my blouse. A saree is charismatic but you can always add an extra oomph factor.

Blouse With Bell Sleeves

History Repeats - Bell Sleeves
History Repeats – Bell Sleeves

I remember wearing these sleeves when I was in college. They were on bloom. These sleeves were also known as umbrella sleeves as they would just hang around your hands. The style has returned but with an extra slice of cheese. This time these bell sleeves are multi layered. That is really something that you could expect in the year of 2018, where we want every thing to be multi-fold.

These bell sleeves could be seen every where. Like cold shoulder rocked the fashion world, these sleeves are current favorite of international brands too. Have seen many models flaunting these sleeves.

Crop top blouse is something that looks the best with these sleeves. A well fitted crop top is first choice with flared pants and skirts. But even a saree looks fab with such crop top. These bell sleeved crop tops are every where , you can find them at high end stores, local markets or online stores. You can find them in prints and solid colors.

Saree With A Crop Top

I really prefer wearing sarees with a crop top. The reason is simple. You get to experiment with the traditional look. A crop top is a revolutionary style the fashion industry has ever come up with. A crop top is versatile. You can pair it with so many other style and create unique and eye catchy looks.

I usually don’t like to get a blouse stitched for my sarees. It’s a headache to find a design, find a nice tailor and then to make him/her understand what you want. At the end I have always compromised when it comes to stitched blouses. Wearing a crop top is the safest bet.

The Black Saree

This saree is close to my heart as it was a lovely gift from my sister. The saree came with a nice and very beautiful sequin blouse which was ready to wear. But the sequin work scratched my arms whenever I wore it. Hence I usually pair this saree with another blouse/crop top.

This saree has an abstract self print. Hardly visible in photos. Also it has got a very thin sequin lace, hence the blouse.

The Thought Behind The Look

Well I did not think much.  The yellow-black color combination is great. I have worn an outfit in this color combination before – A Sharara .  I would not like to wear a black saree on a summer afternoon but yes it is a nice casual look for outings. Even though I wanted to look different, I still looked traditional with a high bun. The look is an exact replica of what I am. Traditional With A Twist.

Hope you liked the idea of wearing a saree with crop top and that too with the latest cut.
