BB/CC/DD creams gives instant makeup finish without having to use foundation.  These creams are also helpful in providing moisture to skin, protecting it from the sun while covering imperfections. Isn’t that we all want? Lotus Herbals too jumped into the wagon and launched it’s very first DD cream after VLCC. I hope you have read how much I liked VLCC Glam Glow BB Cream. Today I will talk about Lotus DD cream.

Lotus Herbals DD Cream is a very light weight formula which gives naturally illuminated mattifying look to your skin.  Using this DD Cream daily will nourish your skin while covering imperfections and dark spots. The key features of this DD Creme are as given below:

What is a DD Creme/Cream?

DD or “Dynamic Do All” cream are the latest addition to the BB/CC cream trend. They add moisture, protects skin from the sun and pollution while giving evening out skin tone and yielding anti ageing effect.

Are DD Cream Better Than BB/CC Cream?

BB or Beauty Balm is more of a MOISTURIZER while CC Creams lean towards COLOR CORRECTION. DD creams go one step ahead and offer ANTI AGEING EFFECTS. Choose one based on your needs.

Ingredients

Ingredient list of Lotus DD cream is missing. From Nykaa, I picked up the main ingredients which are grapefruit extracts, Mulberry Extracts, Saxifraga Extracts.

Packaging

Lotus Whiteglow Matte Look All in One DD Creme comes in a white colored matte carton which contains information about the product. Inside is a tiny sleek white colored matte tube with golden cap. The packaging is classy and sturdy no doubt. Surprisingly no ingredients list is present on the carton or on the tube.

Lotus DD creme comes in two shades

1. Pink Beige : A Light shade with pink undertones. Suitable only for fair-light skin
2. Natural Beige : A Dark shade with yellow tones. This shade looks dark even for wheatish skin tones. It is comparable to the Lakme CC Cream in Bronze. Natural Beige is a good match for dark skin beauties.

Fragrance & Texture 

Lotus Herbals DD Creme is really lightweight. It spreads easily because of it’s fine texture. It sets into matte finish. There is no oily or sticky feeling before or after the application. It literally vanishes on skin leaving behind only soft skin.

Lotus Whiteglow Matte Look All in One DD Creme has a sweet- flowery fragrance like VLCC Glam Glow BB Cream has. It does not bother my sensitive nose for too long though.

How To Use Lotus DD Cream?

Lotus Whiteglow Matte Look DD Cream is just like any other BB/CC cream with some additional skin benefits. So you can put it on without a fuss.

1. On pre-cleansed and toned skin, in case you need to put moisturizer, out some.
2. Put dots of Lotus DD cream on your face covering your forehead, cheeks, under eyes, nose and chin including your neck.
3. Start massaging and blending the DD cream into your skin, using circular motion.
4. Make sure your skin got even coverage, reapply in case your need more coverage.

This DD cream is not high on coverage and it can only even out skin tone. It cannot cover imperfections, not even minor acne scars. Lakme CC cream, Pond’s BB Cream, VLCC Glamglo BB cream do a much better job in terms of coverage.

Should You Use Additional Sun Protection While Using BB/CC/DD Cream?

Even though every BBCC/DD cream offer some level of sun protection, never solely rely on it to protect yourself from the harmful sun rays.If your BB cream contains SPF 20, that will lead to sun protection for (20 X 5 = 100) minutes, which comes to approximately 1.5 hours. That too only if you use a coin sized quantity of the product over your face. after 1.5 hours, you must reapply the same product (does not sound practical) or a real sunscreen/sunblock.

It’s always a wise step to use an additional sunscreen that contains at least SPF 30 (30 X 5= 150, approx. 2 hours of sun protection ) before your put on your BB/CC/DD cream. I anyway go for SPF 50 sunblock to protect my skin.

I like how lightweight and oil free matte finish Lotus Whiteglow Matte Look All in One DD Creme gives but it’s a shame that it hardly gives any coverage. The shades are very bad. There should have been a proper shade for wheatish skin tones, which is missing. No anti ageing claims have been made which are expected out of a DD cream. A herbal brand must always give out ingredient list also.

 

This was my review of Lotus DD Creme in Natural Beige shade. I picked up this shade thinking that it would suit my wheatish skin. But it manages to look me darker than my skin tone.
