Finding a foundation that matches your skin tone, that does not break your skin, that does not turn your face shiny, that does not turn your face orange, it’s such a task. A task, if you have oily skin which is sensitive & acne prone too. Like my skin. When I first came face to face (no pun intended) with my foundation for the first time, I was like wow. This was the most affordable yet commendable foundation, Lakme Perfecting Liquid Foundation. It offered just 3 shades back then, and the medium one suited my wheatish complexion very well. It covered my acne marks, it evened out my skin tone beautifully. My complexion had a healthy glow. Gosh, why did I stop using it?

I stopped using because, my curiosity increased to try out foundations from fancy and big brands with a nice cost attached to them. But let me tell you. Most of the brands, perceive wheatish skin in a wrong way. It’s not orange. I am not Orange, specially you MAC. You always offer me orange foundation whenever I ask one for my wheatish skin tone. I hate your range.

Summer Foundation For Wheatish Skin

Golden, Beige, Natural. These are the keywords that I look for in the name of a foundation I am trying out for the first time. Wheatish could be tricky. You take a tad lighter shade, you look grey. You take bit darker shade, you look tanned. The situation is more intense if you are tanned already.

So I have managed to gather some foundations for your today out of which I am using some from last 2 years. Some I recently got. My motto is to give you an idea of the shades of these foundations which are meant for wheatish skin.

Maybelline Fit Me range is one of the most popular when it comes to most affordable foundation for oily and acne prone skin. I have got 3 shades in this foundation, here’s why? But I must say I always come back to it.

The 3 shades are quite close and vary just little bit from each other, 310 being the darkest of them all. 128 has nice yellow tones and does not look greyish or make you look ghost if you are wheatish. If you still feel like it’s bit light, you can mix wither 230 or 310, like I do when I am tanned. This is the range, you must look into to find your foundation for wheatish skin.

I had been using 150 Golden Beige, but always felt it was giving bit of grey-ness/ ghoostly cast. Foundation must match your skin tone, it’s your base. So I thought I should try out the next darker shade from the same range, since the foundation performs really well. It gives nice coverage, keeps skin matte & does not oxidize. Hence I opted for Radiant Beige 150. This shade has got more yellow & peach pigments than the shade Golden Beige 140. It is more close match for Wheatish skin tone. I have used up Golden Beige as of now, and would do a comparative swatch photo, in case I ever got it again.

It is latest addition to my closet. Check out my mini haul of Wet n Wild Makeup here. I was very impressed by the shade range that this foundation offers. Also The price is very competitive to other drug store brands. At the same time, it offers medium to buildable coverage with nice blend-ability. Overall a nice foundation if you are looking to use in Summer for oily skin. It keeps skin matte once set.

But once set, I feel it does turn bit darker than the usual shade because it has more orange pigments than yellow. It was bit disappointing ,since I really wanted it to act as my the best match for my skin tone. I generally mix Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation in Sand to it to make it work perfectly.

I got it last year at my birthday and I love everything about this foundation except the fact that it is pricey and is bit lighter than my skin tone. When you have a lot of foundations at your disposal, shade match is no big deal. I sometimes, mix this foundation with Maybelline Fit me 230 / 310 or L’Oreal Paris Infallible 24HR Stay Fresh Foundation in Radiant Beige. Or something that tones down Double Wear Sand little bit. So I get desired coverage, finish & longevity of my base. And this concludes my list of summer foundations for wheatish skin.

I am someone who wishes to look natural even while wearing a heavy coverage foundation. Your base makeup should not scream. It should look as natural and subtle as possible. Lipsticks & Blushes are there to give you bold look. I will not rest till I find my second skin.
