Castor Oil is a multi purpose oil. It is useful for hair, skin, body and even constipation. It is being used in cosmetic industry from so long. It is good for skin cleansing & nourishment, hair regrowth & strengthening, and nail & cuticle health. Today I am going to talk about Bliss Of Earth 100% Pure Organic Castor Oil which I have been using from 2-3 weeks on myself in various ways. The bottle also has a plastic stopped on it’s mouth to avoid any kind of spillage. The bottle contains white colored label wrapped around around it providing all the details regarding the oil, such as the benefits, usages, price, manufacturing etc. The packaging is quite sturdy and even travel friendly. I find it very practical since I can control the amount of the oil to pour out. 5 stars for the packaging. Fragrance & Texture Naturally, the fragrance of the oil is not really pleasant. It smells bit untasteful. Some people really don’t like to use it since it does not have a nice smell. But since it is a very potent oil, I can with stand the fragrance. Also since I have been using castor oil from many years, it really does not bother me now. Color wise it looks bit of amber in the bottle while when poured out of the bottle it’s color vary from clear to amber. Castor oil is a thick oil. The viscosity of the oil is bit high as expected. Depending upon the usage it can be mixed with other essential and carrier oils, which I shall be explaining in next section. My Experience How to use castor oil? It depends how you want to use castor oil. This is a multi purpose oil. Bliss Of Earth Castor Oil is pure & organic hence the effects multiply. Let me share my experience with the same oil for the various purposes I have been using it. In Oil Cleansing Method | As Makeup Remover Oil cleansing is a very popular way of cleansing your skin. Oils dissolves the skin impurities such as oil, dirt, grim etc and you can take it off with a wet wipe or cotton later going for a simple face wash if like to. I do not use this method regularly but I like to go for deep cleansing whenever I wear makeup, which happens to be twice or thrice in a week. I am not much fond of chemical based makeup removers as they are harsh to skin. I mix Bliss Of Earth Castor Oil with Bliss Of Earth Almond Oil/ Jojoba Oil in equal parts and massage my skin for 2-3 minutes which perfectly dissolves all the skin impurities as well as makeup. Then, I, take a wet wipe and take off the mess out of my face. My face looks clean & soft because of the oil massaging which improves blood circulation as well as provides some moisture to my skin. For Lustrous & Strong Hair I came to know about castor oil via hair care blogs only. Later I realized the other uses. I mix Bliss Of Earth Castor Oil with other oils such as coconut, almond, olive oil etc. along with some essential oils to make my own customized hair oil.. It definitely controls my hair fall, strengthens my hair roots and enhances moisture level. I like to use castor oil specially for new hair growth. For Healthy Nails & Cuticles I like to massage my cuticles and nails with this castor oil twice a week since it is high in Vitamin E which helps the nails to grow faster and stay strong while the cuticles stay soft. The oil is pure & organic and hence work great for every use. For Cracked Lips & Heels Bliss Of Earth Castor Oil works great to soft lips as well as heels. The thick oil really helps to deeply moisturized cracked lips and heels softening the edges and taking care of the dryness with Vitamin E. Long Lashes Naturally My eyebrows and eye lashes are really sparse hence I use Bliss Of Earth Castor Oil on my eye lashes and eyebrows for few nights in a row almost every week to flaunt dense & long lashes. I use an old mascara wand to apply the oil just before going to sleep. I find this oil to be very effective in every use because it is pure. There are no chemical preservative added to the oil hence it works beautifully on skin and hair without any adverse effect. Ingredients Packaging The gel cream comes filled in a glass tub with a plastic mint colored lid over. The outer packaging, i.e. the card box contains all the information about the product like the ingredients, price, benefits etc. Himalaya generally packs it’s products in tube which are more travel friendly. Tub packaging is not really appreciated for hygienic reasons. Also glass tubs are bit prone to accidental breakage(don’t get me started on my shaky hands). Fragrance & Texture The fragrance of this gel cream is enchanting, it’s aquatic & flowery at the same time. I love to smell it again and again. But once I have applied the cream over my face, it goes away quickly. Texture wise, it is gel cream. The lightest texture you can have. It’s feather like light on your skin. It absorbs quickly as water drops. It is smooth enough to glide on your skin effortlessly. My Experience I am on the second tub of this cream. It took me about 1 and half month to use up the first tub. I use it daily once a day after my morning shower. I apply rose water on my face as a toner (going the nature’s way). After 2-3 minutes I dot this cream on my face & massage it going in circular motions. It instantly sinks into my skin. There is no stickiness as I would rather feel with another gel products during summer. It feels like I have applied nothing. But there is increased level of suppleness and glow in my skin. The glow is not that oily thing but is rather a very faint glow, an oil free glow. It keeps my skin matte for 3-4 hours. After 3-4 hours my T-Zone starts to get oily. I splash water on my face & then I am good to go. I have worn this cream under BB Cream & a foundation. It acted as a primer because of it’s finish. The makeup went pretty smooth. I really am going to use it until the next winter shows up. During winter I would switch back to the Natural Glow Cream from Himalaya Herbals unless my wandering eyes find something more interesting to try out. Update: I am using The Ordinary Skin Care for acne prone skin , and I have never seen such clear skin. Summary Himalaya Herbals Oil Free Radiance Gel Cream, is a parabene free, alcohol free, oil-free, day cream for oily & acne prone skin at affordable price. It is widely available & proves to be economical in long term. If you are looking for a gel based day cream, please look no where else. I have been ditching foundations from many years unless I have to attend a function or I must skip wearing SPF better photographs. I like to wear BB & CC creams more because they are handy & have a lot of skin benefits. They are better in moisturization, texture & finish than foundation, I feel. The shades are not techie. Why not choose a BB/CC Cream over a foundation then? today I will be talking about Faces CC Cream which is a new addition to my BB stash. Faces Correct & Care CC Cream – Primes, Perfects & Protects Faces brings a BB cream to you with multiple benefits to give you flawless looking skin in single step. It primes, perfects & protects. Primes: It conceals imperfections giving an even toned skin & radiance. Perfects: This is a non-oily formula , that gives dewy look. It is made with organic ingredients it provides anti ageing benefits. Protects: Infused with SPF 20, it protects skin from the UVA & UVB skin rays. while giving 12 hours hydration. Price Rs. 399 for 35ml. Buy here. Ingredients Shades Available in 2 shades – Natural & Sand. For light – wheatish skin tone one should go for Natural, while Sand is for dusky skin tones. Packaging The Faces CC Cream comes packed in a black matte card box with all the product information printed over it. Inside the card box, there is a black slim tube with a narrow opening. The packaging is classy, leak proof & travel friendly. Fragrance & Texture Faces CC Cream has a bit of chemically but mild fragrance, which goes away very soon. Texture wise it is just in between Garnier BB Cream & Lakme CC Cream. It is not thick as Lakme CC Cream and not as runny as Garnier BB Cream. It has just the perfect consistency. It is high on moisture level. You would not need another layer of moisture using this cream during summer no matter what kind of skin type you have. The texture is ultra smooth & feels very nice to rub in. My Experience I really got confused between the two shades of the CC cream. They are very alike. I got Sand because, I already use Lakme CC cream in Beige, which is bit lighter for my skin tone. I thought about mixing the two & yes it worked. The cream offers nice moisture level. Without even wearing any moisture beneath I can layer this CC Cream which is a nice thing. I like the smooth texture that this cream offers. It blends into my skin beautifully & leaves behind matte finish on my oily skin. But this cream does not keep my face matte for more than 2 hours like Lakme CC cream does. The CC creams has SPF 20 which is fine if you are staying indoor, but if you are going outdoor, please layer a real sunscreen. I wish I had picked up the lighter shade, I would have been able to wear it more. Likes Smooth fine texture. Blends beautifully No need to use additional moisturizer. Gives matte finish. Ingredient list is long but impressive. Affordable. Suitable for all skin type. No allergies or breakout noticed. Dislikes During summer, the CC cream can not keep my face matte for more than 2 hours. Summary : 4/5 It is a nice CC cream for Dry-Normal skin types during summer. It does not provide much coverage though. It would basically even out the skin tone. It is affordable. If you do not have things to conceal on your face, you can go for it for it’s beautiful texture. Hi Guys! Among all the Asian skincare habits Korean skincare has always held an important place. In the past few years, globalization of beauty brands has caused a tremendous hype on beauty-conscious people. Previously there was only the western style Cleansing-Toning-Moisturizing type skincare only. But, there is now provision to do some trials and errors to find out what type of skincare gives optimal results to someone. Today we are going to present an overall view of the Korean Skincare to find out if it’s worth the hype. Let’s start our discussion with the most basic topic, what is different in Korean skincare. What’s New in Korean Skincare? There are certain differences between traditional skincare routines and the Korean one that make this lesser known skin regimen stand out in the crowd. Firstly, Korean skincare is more of a preventive skin maintaining technique while the traditional one is curative. While Korean skincare believes in dis-functioning a skin concern from the root, the traditional skincare is based on therapeutic healing. Another point is, Korean skincare uses the goodness of herbal ingredients like Cucumber, Lingzi or Calendula that are either easily available or native to south Asian countries. The western skin care uses herbal ingredients and laboratory derived or naturally found therapeutics like Thermal spring water hand in hand. With these points discussed, it is time to jump to the standard Korean skincare steps. Steps of Korean Skincare Regimen Since the Korean skincare finds its base on the extracts of herbs and their healing properties, there are more steps involved to be comparable with the problem-specific traditional skincare. A basic Korean skincare regimen consists of 10 steps. Oil-Based Cleansing: This is the first step of Korean skincare. Here cleansing oils, cleaning balms or other oil based cleansing lotions are used to get rid of skin impurities and residues of makeup. A Bi-phased makeup remover which contains an emulsion of both oil and water based cleansing agents is also a good option for this step. The aim of this step is to prevent clogging of facial pores which in turn prevents acne or allergenic skin reactions. Water-Based Cleansing: In this step the face is double-cleansed with a suitable foaming or non-foaming cream facial cleanser to wash off the excess oil left from the previous step. This step ensures thoroughly cleansed skin with clean pores so that the skin can absorb the goodness of the upcoming nutrifying skincare products like toner and essence. Exfoliation: Defoliation is not an everyday step but it is essential to get rid of dull layer of dead cell from the surface of the skin 2-3 times a week as per the skin’s current condition. Korean skincare regimen trusts upon physical exfoliators which we know as scrubs or chemical exfoliators (mild acid based skin peels). According to the budget and skin type a suitable exfoliator needs to be used for fresh and radiant skin. Toning: Korean skincare cannot perform its best if toning is not properly done because our skin’s absorbing power is at its pick when it is damp. This dampness is supplied by a good quality toner. Water can also dampen the skin but, unfortunately it does not hold the power to pH balance the skin. After two steps of cleansing and exfoliation the skin needs to calm down and the pH balance should be maintained otherwise the risk of microbial infections or acne bouts increase abruptly. Essence: This is a novel step of Korean skincare. Essence is nothing but the concentrates of fresh plant parts with serum-like consistency. These essences give instant boost to the level of hydration of the skin. The skin becomes supple, plum and illuminated with regular application. Lotus and rose essences are two widely appreciated floral essences. Concern-based Treatments: Concern-based Treatments are basically serums targeting various skin problems like sagging skin, pigmentation, blemishes, acne, wrinkle or dullness. Like the essences, the serums used in Korean skincare are also made from herbal extracts. The difference between essence and serum lies in their purposes; the essence hydrates while serum cures. Serums are denser than essences and they show visible results faster than cream or lotion based topical treatments. In Korean skincare method serums are used after the essence gets absorbed into the skin. Sheet Mask: Sheet masks are another exclusive skin pampering items of Korean skincare routine that should be used 2-4 times a month. Sheet masks are use-and-throw tissue mask sheets drenched in serum of fresh plant based skin nourishing ingredients. Unlike clay masks, sheet mask hydrates the skin and restores the moisture balance of the skin. The skin gets its dose of moisture to supple up and some skin concerns are also taken care of in the process. Eye Nourisher: Eye area is one of the sensitive places of the face and the skin around the eyes is very delicate in nature. A summer body lotion is supposed to be really lightweight & low on fragrance. This body lotion complied with the factors. My hands are bit tanned. My face may not get much tanned because, I use regular de-tanning face packs, but hands & feet are mostly ignored, don’t you agree? So, I expected this brightening sorry ‘extra brightening -cell repairing ‘ body lotion to help me with my tan. Did it help me? You will get to know. Nivea Extra Whitening Cell Repair Body Lotion With SPF 15 Nivea formulated a body lotion for Asian skin with approx. The lotion is formulated with super fruit extracts of camu camu & acerola cherry. The lotion contains SPF 15 and is free of Parabenes, Mineral oil, Colorants & Bleaching agents. Hence skin is protected & nourished without using any harmful ingredients. It is easy to pour out body lotion out of the bottle very easily. The quality of the bottle is sturdy & leak proof. Fragrance & Texture I want my body lotion to smell mild & feel light weight. This body lotion works very well in the department. It is mildly fra ranted runny lotion. It spreads well on the skin & gets absorbed with little massage. No stickiness to observe later. My Experience I have been using this lotion once daily after shower in the morning. It is a lightweight lotion which needs little rubbing to get absorbed. SPF 15 is alright if I am staying indoor. But if I am going out, SPF 15 can not protect my skin from the harmful sun rays for long. Hence I rub in a higher level SPF lotion. In terms of moisturization this works fine. I do not need much moisture during summer. The consistency is just perfect for my skin. I do not need to put in more moisture until the next day. Coming to the long term effect of the body lotion, Extra Whitening should not be taken that seriously. It did help to improve the texture of my arms & hands but did not brighten the skin as such. There is not much difference in the tanning. I like to keep the smallest pack in my travel bag, since it is moisturizing without being oily. Likes Lightweight yet creamy texture. Smells nice but mild. Improves skin texture. Moisturizes skin well without any sticky feeling. Infused with Vitamin C & SPF 15. Comes in travel friendly packaging. Free of parabenes, mineral oil, bleaching agent & colorant. Dislikes The extra whitening part is little over the top. Bit pricey as compared to other brand. Summary : 4.5/5 Nivea Extra Whitening Cell Repair Body Lotion with SPF 15 is a moisturizing lotion without harmful chemicals such as parabenes, colorant, bleaching agents & mineral oil. The body lotion is light weight, smells mild and provides bit of sun protection. A body lotion can not be replaced be it any season, only our skin needs change. It can be mixed with water, milk, curd, lemon juice, rose water, toner anything you want. It will form a nice paste. How To Use The powder can be used in multiple ways for skin & hair. Night Cleanser Make a paste of this powder with water, curd, lemon juice, rose water, toner, milk etc. depending upon your skin type. Apply the paste on face in a light layer. Massage gently for few minutes & wash it off with water. I have been using it as my night cleanser from about 2 weeks. I mix 1 spoon of Hibiscus powder with rose water or water. And wash off after massaging it for a while. Pat dry my face and apply few drops of Indus Valley Skin Care Oil while giving a bit of massaging. As a Scrub + Mask This powder, due to it’s coarse texture, can be used as a scrub and mask too. Make a paste with anything runny & apply on you face. Leave it there for few minutes & then start massaging it giving your skin a nice scrubbing action. This works as a 2 in 1 scrub + mask.
