Aloevera – Lemon Serum For Bright & Clear Complexion : DIY

Summary: Aloevera Lemon Serum at home for a clear complexion.

Aloe Vera is a magic plant. It cures you from inside & outside. You can eat it, drink it or apply it externally. Either way, you are covered. I have tried drinking Aloe Vera Juice from Patanjali to cure my skin problems, but yuck. I could not. Hats off to those who dare to drink it. It tastes pathetic. So just applying it externally is the easiest way to make it work for my skin. I have got a plant of Aloe Vera in my balcony which yields plenty of the aloe vera leaves.

For those who are into natural skincare, what could be more authentic than using Aloe Vera in skincare & hair care. Today I am going to share my Aloe Vera Night Serum recipe with you guys. It’s 100% Natural & Organic if that’s what you like to hear. Please don’t laugh when I say it’s mostly the Aloe Vera as the ingredient. The second ingredient Lemon is optional, since it is highly acidic in nature & might not suit ultra-sensitive skin.

Aloevera Lemon Serum Benefits

  • Aloe Vera is a natural moisturizer.  It hydrates & nourishes the skin well while you sleep at night.
  • The water-like-consistency of the serum suits every skin type.
  • Aloe Vera fights wrinkles, dark spots & uneven tone with a long term usage.
  • The Lemon present in the serum is rich in Vitamin C which helps to brighten skin tone & acts as an anti-oxidant.

Aloevera Lemon Serum Ingredients

Ingredients
Ingredients
  • 1 Aloe Vera leaf
  • 1 Lemon

Tools

  • You will also need a knife & a spoon to extract the pulp out of the aloe vera leaf.
  • Get a hold of a hand blender to make aloe vera juice out of the pulp.
  • Lastly, a clean container to store the serum. You can get a glass container if you want, but since we have to make a fresh batch every week, we can use a plastic container as well.

How To Make Aloe Vera – Lemon Serum?

It’s no rocket science to make the serum out of an aloe vera leaf. Just follow these steps.

  1. Wash the aloe vera leaf thoroughly with clean water to get rid of dirt.
  2. Slit the leaf from both the sides and peel the skin of the leaf from one side.
  3. Scoop out aloe vera pulp out the peeled leaf.
  4. Using a hand blender, blend the pulp to get aloe vera juice.
  5. (Optional)Squeeze out some lemon juice and sprinkle over the aloe vera juice.
  6. Mix well and store in a clean airtight container.

If I put whole lemon juice into the serum, the moisturizing properties of aloe vera vanish surprisingly, hence I add only a few drops to the aloe vera juice.

How to Use Aloe Vera – Lemon Serum

If you are putting lemon drops into the serum, use the serum only at night after cleansing & toning. But if you are skipping lemon juice you can use this serum during day time too after cleansing & toning the skin. Lemon juice makes skin photosensitive. Hence should not be used during the day time. Make sure to wear a good sunblock during the day to protect your beautiful skin during the day.

I use this serum at night since I pour some lemon juice into it (greedy me). It stings a little bit initially but not for long. I massage the serum on my face & neck in a circular motion to reap out the maximum benefits of the massaging part too. It gets absorbed into my skin since it’s pure aloe vera juice that I am rubbing into my skin.

My skin feels well hydrated especially during summer when I do not require much moisture. Also with regular usage my skin starts glowing, starts to look clearer  & brighter.

To summarize the usage

  1. Clean your face & neck. Tone with your favorite toner.
  2. Take out the aloe vera lemon serum our of the refrigerator.
  3. Apply a little amount of aloe vera lemon serum to your face and neck.
  4. Massage gently using upward circular motion.
  5. You can reapply as much as you want.
  6. Restore the serum back to the refrigerator.
  7. Wear sunscreen every single day.

The real changes I witnessed in my skin:

  1. My skin feels brighter clearer & taut. Pore look minimized.
  2. My acne spots are fading at an amazing speed.
  3. I started noticing the results within 2-3 days application even though I use it at night only.
  4. After using it for a week, I noticed my skin looked smoother.
  5. It’s free of chemicals and parabens, hence I can use it as long as I want to.

Can I Use Aloevera Lemon Serum For My Hair?

Yes, you can. This combination will induce moisture and shine in your hair. I have tried a few times. Every single time I use this serum, it detoxifies my scalp and hair. It takes away any product build up my hair had. So they absorb better moisture and frizz is gone.

  • You can use this serum to apply on your scalp to treat dryness and combat dandruff.
  • You can apply this serum on your hair length to moisturize your hair and reduce frizz.

Side Effect Of Aloe Vera Lemon Serum

I never had any kind of allergy or bad reaction to this homemade natural serum.  Furthermore, since I can control the quantity of the lemon drops, I can also control the irritation that lemon could give to my sensitive skin.

The only problem with this serum is that since it does not contain any preservatives, it needs to be made fresh every 4-5 days. it must be stored at a cool place (hint: refrigerator). This is the reason that I do not stay loyal to this magic serum & I rely on other Vitamin C based products such as  Garnier White Night Cream or O3+ Agelock Vitamin C Serum.

Quick Tip: If you feel your serum has started to smell funny in 3-4 days, it’s gone bad. Throw it & make a fresh batch.

It is natural so definitely no side effects. The only flaw is it works slow but believe me it works specially in vanishing the dark/ pimple spots.
