Best Products For Acne Prone Skin In Summer : My Favorites

I have been getting a few emails to share my summer skincare products. I have acne-prone oily skin. I am going to list out the best products for oily & acne-prone skin during summer. There are few products that suit my skin type. The products are very basic & under budget. Some products are paraben-free while some products are organic/herbal. I keep on trying out new stuff but always come back to the products that I am going to list in this post today. Best Products For Oily Acne Prone Skin In Summer My first concern is to keep my skin acne-free. I choose those products which are noncomedogenic, non-creamy & let my skin breathe. I also hate to layer up a lot of products, otherwise my skin feels suffocating. Next, I try to exfoliate my skin with micro exfoliates like Glycolic & Salicylic acid instead of physical scrubs so that my acne-prone and sensitive skin does not get aggravated. For moisturization purposes, I like to use very basic water-based moisture or some time Jojoba Oil. Now, let’s move on to the products. Best Skin Care Products For Acne Prone Skin Cleansers -> Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Lotion , AhaGlow S Face Wash Cleansing is a basic step in skincare. Cetaphil Gentle Cleansing Lotion stays in my vanity all year long. I like to use it as a makeup/oil/grim dissolver. I massage this lotion on my face for a few minutes, wiping it off with cotton, which takes away all the dirt off the face. Then I use another face wash if I feel like. On contrary to popular belief, it is not only meant for dry skin but it is a nice face wash for all skin types. Oily & acne-prone skins need it more because, we have to use acne based harsh washes & treatments, which leave our skin in distress and all flaky. Cetaphil restores the skin’s pH level & calms it down taking away the redness. I sometimes, use it as a face mask too because the Vitamin E present in the face wash imparts nice glow on my face. Ahaglow S Face Wash is a strong face wash containing Glycolic acid & Salicylic acid. After using Ahaglow Face Wash, I moved on to AhaGlow S to reap the advantage of Salicylic Acid present in the face wash. It tightens my pores even during summer, exfoliates my skin while am not using a physical scrub & clears out my pores. I stopped using this face wash for about a month, my face got really dull & clogged. I rushed back to Ahaglow S & my skin was restored. Scrub -> Himalaya Herbals Purifying Neem Face Scrub Even though I use an exfoliating face wash, I still use a scrub out of the habit to exfoliate physically, or before using a face mask. Himalaya Neem Face Scrub needs no introduction. You all know, how amazing this face scrub (actually the whole range) is. It has the goodness of Turmeric & Neem which purifies the skin, cleansing out dirt & clogged pores while apricot granules take off the dead skin layer, leaving a fresh & clearer complexion. On top of that, it is a budget product. No doubt it is the number one product for oily & acne-prone skinned girls. Toner For Acne Free Skin For a long time, I kept on ignoring toner for my skin. Toners can be very useful for problematic skin. They could be used as a treatment. Kaya Acne Free Toner which contains Mandelic Acid has been great in clearing my existing acne and keeping my skin clear. If you want to go a bit higher, The Ordinary Glycolic Acid 7% Tonning Solution, would not disappoint you. It’s really strong. It stings every time you put it on your skin. It exfoliates the skin and keeps pores clean. Don’t need to use a physical scrub, if you are using this. Face Masks -> Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask , FabIndia Acne Control Clove Cream After using a scrub, it is a must to use a face mask while your face is still damp. I like to use Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask which contains Glycolic acid in addition to Green Tea. I have used 2-3 more products from the green tea range of Plum, like Plum Green Tea Toner & Mattifying Moisturizer, but it’s this face mask which I keep on repurchasing. You can read it’s the complete review here. Acne never leaves me alone, so I have to consistently use some acne control mask/ointment. I use such masks at night for the obvious reasons. FabIndia Acne Control Clove Cream is a sweetheart. It works on zits without any side effects. It actually improves texture while eating up the zit. It does not dry out skin though. It has a gel texture, just stings a bit initially. Overall, I totally love it. Moisturizer -> Clean-n-Clear Oil Free Moisturiser Skincare seals off with a moisturizer. I love using Clean-n-Clear Oil Free Moisturiser all year round. It suits my oily skin. It is a water-based lotion type moisturizer which is completely oil-free. I shall do a full review of this budget product. Update: Mamaearth Light moisturizer also works great for my skin. Also, Read – Neutrogena Oil Free Moisturiser Sunscreen -> Aroma Magic Cucumber Sunscreen Lotion SPF 30 , La Shield Fisico Sunscreen SPF 50 Summer & Sunscreen, an unbeatable combination. Wearing at least SPF 30 is a must for the Indian Summer season. I like to wear light formulas & Aroma Magic Cucumber Sunscreen is one with nice sun protection as well as lightweight formula. It does not leave behind any white cast. Does not feel sticky or heavy on the skin. I shall be writing about this very soon. La Shield Fisico Sunscreen SPF 50 is a perfect matte sunscreen that keeps skin matte for hours. It’s a physical sunscreen and contains Zinc, Zinc Oxide, Titanium Oxide as it’s main ingredients. These ingredients are super helpful for acne-prone skin. SPF 50 with PA++ saves skin from UVA & UVB. Also Read – Lotus Herbals Safe Sun 3 in 1 SunBlock Everything About Sunscreens Top 6 Mamaearth Skincare Products For Oily Acne Prone Skin Apart from the above products, I have been using Rosewater to tone my skin. Not using any special toners such as La Roche Posay Effaclar Astringent or anything else. I am on a break from the commercial toners. If you remember I got Concentrated Rose Water form Kodaikanal. I have been diluting this concentration with Divya Rose Water from Patanjali and using it as a toner & as a mist. I like the freshness that it gives to my skin. I like to use new things, but then problematic skin needs some basic care & some loyal products to stay the same. I am sure, you guys must have used & liked at least one product from the list. When it comes to home facials, VLCC is the name that comes in my mind first. I have tried many of their facial kits and they have presented me with good results. In today’s post I am going to compare two of VLCC’s facial kits; the Gold Facial Kit and the Salon Series Insta Glow Facial Kit. I would compare the results these two gave to my skin and my mom’s skin. Without further ado, let’s dig in to find out if they worked on us or not. VLCC Gold Facial Kit Price Rs 250 for 60gm (single user kit) . Buy here. Gold Facial Kit by VLCC is a 6-step sachet facial kit that promises to make a golden enigma out of you! This metal based kit is a recent re-launch by VLCC. It used to be a 4 step kit earlier; the brand has now included a pre-facial cleanser and a post-facial moisturizer to make it a complete skin treatment. The kit I have is a single user kit but the amount provided is enough for doing two facials. Here are some details regarding each item in the Gold kit. Pre-facial Comfrey Cleanser cum Toner: This is basically a cleansing milk kind of product. It looks pure white and the consistency is medium to runny. It has mild floral fragrance. This product is able to remove every tress of dirt and makeup (waterproof too!) gently. Gold Scrub: This scrub is very mild and the granules are small. It contains fine shimmery particles resembling of gold. This kind of exfoliator works best on people who do not have blackheads. That is why it worked on my mom but could not show that much difference on me. Gold Gel: This is a lightweight gel that gets absorbed into the skin and hydrates from within. This gel gives a nice shine to the face. Gold Cream: It is an off-white cream with good spreading ability. It gives the perfect slip to massage the face. It is quite moisturizing but the thickness is not very heavy. Gold Peel Off Mask: It is a yellow colored gum based peel off mask with floral fragrance. This product spreads nicely on the skin and dries evenly. This product gives instant glow and does not strip off moisture balance of the skin. Post-facial Oil Free Moisturizing Gel SPF 15 PA+: It is a yellowish gel with medium thickness provided to maintain what is done on the face through the Gold facial. It moisturizes face without making the skin oily. VLCC provides enough amount of gel that can be used for at least 7-8 times. VLCC Salon Series Insta Glow Facial Kit Price Rs 530 for 200gm+10ml (multi user kit) . Buy here. VLCC Insta Glow Facial Kit is a 5-step facial kit to bring a quick radiance to your dull skin. Products included in this kit are mostly enriched with active herbal ingredients making the kit good for every skin type and every age. Like the Gold facial kit this one is also sachet based. I have got the multi use kit which VLCC calls Salon Series kit. My kit has 6 sachets per item and a small facial serum bottle. Here are the mini-reviews for each item. Indian Berberry Face Scrub: Enriched with dates and papaya this defoliator helps to cleanse the skin deeply. The scrub beads of it are uniform and medium in size. They give you cleansed skin without being harsh on skin. Though it has a creamy base, it do not leave creamy residue afterwards. The smell is nice too. Saffron Massage Gel: This medium thick gel is faint reddish purple in colour has a distinct saffron smell. Its consistency feels just perfect for massaging my skin for 5-6 minutes with wet hands. Snigdha Face Cream: This is a good floral-scented massage cream that has medium to heavy moisturizing power. Revital Skin Whitening Serum: This serum is a light-yellow oil-like product which is very light on skin. If you apply 2 drops of it alone in your cleansed skin it will get absorbed completely. It too has a floral fragrance but the intensity is very low. I generally mix it with the massage cream to get better slip. When my skin feels very dehydrated I mix 2 drops of it to the face pack also. It helps to retain the moisture to my skin. Insta Glow Face Pack: This is a clay based face pack but has sufficient creaminess that makes it useful for every types of skin. It does not dry completely. This product helps me to calm down my face after heavy massaging and deep exfoliation. It has a typical relaxing ayurvedic smell. Overall Result: This Gold facial kit suited my mom’s oily mature skin better than me. It gave her a nice sheen that I see on her face after facial session at a salon. I am absolutely repurchasing this one for my mom. Though it did not irritate my acne-prone skin, it failed to work on my blackheads. The Instaglow facial Kit on the other hand worked better for my skin than my mom’s skin. Its gritty exfoliator took care of my stubborn blackheads. Plus the gel, cream and the pack made a perfect trio to cleanse the dullness and impurities off my face. I am happy that I got the multiuser kit because I want to complete 10 consequent facial sessions with it; one in each month. Overall, both are good buys if you can identify your exact need. So, my suggestion would be, Gold Facial Kit to bring shine to the face and Instaglow Kit for deep cleansing. Enough of drying & acne fighting face washes. Sometimes, even oily skin needs gentle cleansing action. I am going to talk about 2 face washes from Himalaya, which are creamy, & suitable for all skin types. The face washes give a glowing complexion with the natural ingredients that they contain. I am talking about, Himalaya Kesar Face Wash & Himalaya Clear Complexion Face Wash. In my stash, you will either find Kesar face wash or the clear complexion face wash. Because, Acne face washes can bring dullness to skin with continuous usage. I do not use acne washes every time I wash my face. I try to give my skin little boost of moisture with creamy face washes. They really revive my skin. I really admire these two face washes from Himalaya for their effectiveness. I have been using it for more than 2-3 years now. I have written about the Kesar face wash here, too. Himalaya Kesar Face Wash – Instant Glow I admire Himalaya for formulating its products with natural ingredients as much as possible. This Kesar face wash mainly contains Kesar & Mint. The face wash is soap free. The face wash gives clearer & brighter skin complexion with every use. The face wash is creamy in texture & hence does not lather much. To me, not lathering much, is not a big issue for me. The face wash feels very nice & minty cool while applied on to the skin. The minty fresh smell & cooling sensation makes me believe that I am using fresh mint on my face. Coming to the after effects, the face wash helps to give glowing skin by keeping tan at bay. I love the fact that it does not leave my skin dry after using it which makes it idea for every skin type. Priced at 120 for 100ml & Rs. 150 for 150ml, I feel this is very affordable for the amazing results it provides. You can buy it here. Himalaya Clear Complexion Whitening Face Wash This is another creamy face wash from Himalaya which is menat to be used for all skin types becasuse of it’s consistency & ingredients. This face wash also contains Saffron (kaser) in ot’s main ingredients. But in addition to Safforn, the face wash also contains Licorice & White Dammer to fade away dark spots since it is a whitening face wash. Pomegranate present in the face wash moisturizes skin while Cucumber soothes down skin. It is advised to be used evening and night to maintain healthy glowing complexion. The texture of the face wash is creamy almost same as the Kesar Fash wash, just little more runny. It also does not lather much. It has a very mild, sweet & pleasant smell different from the Kesar face wash. It is also easy to wash it off, does not require much water. Coming to the after effects of the face wash, the face wash does help in keeping complexion nice & glowing, but it leaves skin little stretchy. I just cannot skip moisturizer. The face wash is priced very reasonably though. It is priced at Rs. 130 for 100ml. Buy here. Which One Do I Prefer? I always prefer Himalaya Kesar Face Wash in place of Himalaya Clear Complexion Whitening Face Wash due to the fact that, the Kesar face wash does not leave my skin stretchy while the other one is not that good at moisturizing. There is not much difference in the quality & the performance of the face washes, since the active ingredients are almost the same. But there is always a preference among the same two, isn’t it? My Experience With Aroma Magic Neem & Tea Tree Face Wash Acne control/oil control face washes are generally drying in nature. They dry out skin so much that skin produces more oil as a result. Which totally beats the benefits of using an oil control face wash. Aroma Magic Neem & Tea Tree Face Wash, is a non drying face wash. It does not dry out my skin even a bit. I do not feel any stretchy feeling after washing my face with this face wash. I think Rose Extracts moisturizes skin while Neem & Tea Tree Oil cleanses it. This is my second bottle of this face wash. Since summers knocked on our doors early this year, my skin was producing a lot of oil and would feel sticky after 2 hours of through cleansing. But this face wash is proving to be very effective. My skin feels normal & balanced, no dryness, no oiliness. My skin is behaving like a good girl. As a result my face is spots free too. So she handed over this facial kit to me to test it out for her. I am glad she did. I was suffering from little bit tanning on my face. Nothing major, but I could definitely use a cleanup. Let me walk through the facial kit contents & the process, which helped me get back my natural glow. About Aroma Magic 7 Steps Bridal Glow Facial Aroma Magic 7 step Facial kits is introduced as Salon Range. They are used in Salons mostly but are not limited. We can use them at home at our convenience. The Facial Kits are formulated with unique & natural ingredients to counteract the damage due to environmental pollution & stress leaving skin polished & rejuvenated. Enhances Natural Glow Imparts Dazzling Radiance Revitalises From Within Suitable Skin Types Price Rs. 725 for 5 usage kit. One kit costs about 180 bucks though. Buy here. Packaging The facial kit comes in a pack of 5 individual kits which again contain 7 steps of the facial regimen. A single facial kit contains: Creamy Face Cleanser Exfol Gel Skin Serum Nourishing Cream Face Pack Hydrating Gel Sunscreen My Experience This is a 7 step facial kit. I shall share my experience with this facial kit step by step as I used the components. Step 1 – Facial Cleanser Ingredients – Natural extracts of Turmeric, Rose, Lemon Peel, pure essential oils of Geranium, Lavendar, Ylang Ylang & Vegetable Waxes. The facial cleanser is the very first content of the facial kit to be used. It is a creamy cleanser. It is supposed to be massaged on to the face for 3 minutes & then wiped off with a wet cotton. I have Normal skin type & the facial cleanser felt really good on my skin type. My face looked clearer since it took care of the dirt & grime off my face. It smells nice & mild. Step 2 – Exfol Gel Ingredients – Extracts of Peppermint, Sage, Cornflower, Fruity acids of Sugarcane and pure essential oils of Peppermint, Orange & Lavender. This is a pinkish thick gel. Although it is named as Exfol Gel, there are no scrubbing particles. It gives cooling sensation since it contains Peppermint. Initially I though it’s just a gel. But instructions says that it is supposed to be kept as a mask for about 10 minutes and then scrubbed off with dry fingers. I somehow missed the instructions & just washed it off without scrubbing it. Later I used a separate scrub. Step 3 – Skin Serum Ingredients – Apricot, Elder Flower, Carrot, Basil Jasmine, Organic Fruit Acid. The serum comes in a glass ampule which is very hard to break and one must be really careful while using & disposing it. The serum is like water and non sticky texture wise. The skin serum is packed with a lot of power packed ingredients. This face serum targets age signs by its lifting & firming action. It rejuvenates skin cells & balances moisture levels. Removes fine lines and keeps skin young & glowing. I applied this serum on my face and neck & left it for 3 minutes. I can not judge it’s firming effect since I am in early 20’s. But it definitely felt good. Step 4 – Nourishing Cream Ingredients – Extracts of Rosemary, Jasmine, Vitamin A,C,E and pure essential oils of Geranium, Vetiver & Peppermint. This is a massage cream packed in the facial kit. Normal to dry skin would really love the consistency & the calming effect on the skin. It is very smooth & velvety to touch. Facial massage helps to boost up blood circulation & imparts glow as a result. My skin’ dryness & flakiness was taken care of by this massage cream. I was really impressed by the natural ingredients that this cream is formulated with. This cream is supposed to be massaged for around 15 minutes before wiping away with wet cotton. Step 5 – Face Pack Ingredients – Organic Fruit Acid, Extracts of Orange peel, Clove and pure essential oils of Neroli, Orange & Petitgrain. This is a creamy AHA face pack. AHA is good to erase age signs. It helps to lighten & brighten skin complexion & promotes healthy glow on face. The face pack is supposed to be mixed & applied with Hydrating Gel that I am going to talk about next. Step 6 – Hydrating Gel Ingredients – Extracts of Seaweed, Lotus , Flax Seed, Aloe Vera and pure pure essential oils of Neroli, Rose & Lavender. This yellowish gel gives a calming effect to the skin. It calms down skin’s irritation & redness due to the presence of Seaweed. It is little difficult to mix the face pack and this hydrating gel but gives a nice consistency upon mixing well. Apply the mixture for about 15 minutes and then wipe of with wet cotton. Step 7 – Sunscreen Ingredients – Extracts of Cucumber, Green Tea, Lemon, Aloe Vera, Octyl Methoxycinnamate, Benzaaphenone, Vitamins A,C,E & pure essential oils of Orange Blossom & Lavender. A sunscreen is must after doing a clean up facial be it salon or at home. Hence aroma Magic supplies a specially formulated sunscreen with all it facial kits to protect skin from harmful UVA & UVB sun rays. It is formulated with natural sun blocking agents. The consistency of the white colored sunscreen from this kit is non oily and fast absorbing. It gives matte finish. There is little white cast after using the sunscreen, but is manageable. SPF content of the sunscreen is not mentioned, though. This concludes the facial steps of the Bridal Facial Kit from Aroma Magic. The process is little long. But you definitely enjoy a wonderful clean up at home. Try it sometime. Likes Salon range facial kit for home use. Gives a nice clean up at affordable price. Suitable for Normal to Dry skin. Gives nice glow & takes care of the dead skin & tanning with just first use. Dislikes Too many steps. It is meant to be used for all skin types, but I really doubt it. The facial kit has too many creamy components which might clog oily & acne prone skin. Summary : 4.5/5 For Normal To Dry Skin, Aroma Magic Bridal Facial Kit, is a very good at home clean up facial. It is affordable & gives very nice results with first use. But, I am not satisfied with the gel based scrub. Also, I would not recommend this particular version to oily skins, but Aroma Magic Skin Glow Facial Kit is definitely meant for all skin types. Hope you liked my first piece on High On Gloss. Himalaya Herbals is a very trusted Indian brand. It caters to skin, body & hair care daily needs. I have found that on average Himalaya Herbals’ every product has worked on me. If a product from Himalaya is not able to satisfy me totally at least it never gave bad results or side effects. This is all because, Himalaya believes in curating herbal products, so they do not harm you in case they are not beneficial. Today I am going to list all the Himalaya Herbals products that I currently have in my stash. And is going to post a short review on each. Some of them, I have already reviewed here, while some I plan to review in future. Stay with me since this is going to be a long post. Himalaya Herbals Neem Purifying Scrub & Face Pack This is the most favorite combo from Himalaya Herbals of most of the girls. Specially during summer, Neem face wash, scrub & pack makes a deadly combo. I have used Himalaya’s Neem face wash a lot too until I found AHAGlow & AHAGlow S to work for me the best. So I did not buy Himalaya’s Neem face wash this year. But, the scrub & face pack from the Purifying Neem range of Himalaya is great, & I plan to use it this summer too. I have reviewed the Neem Purifying Scrub here, while I just keep on postponing to review the pack. Hope I will do it sometime. Himalaya Herbals Neem Purifying Face Pack is another mud pack for you but smells strongly of neem. It mainly contains Neem, Turmeric & Fuller’s Earth. Such an ideal formulation for oily skin face pack, while the pack states that it is suitable for normal to oily skin. The face pack helps in clearing out skin to great extent. It cleanses & purifies skin. In case you use it without using a scrub before, the pack actually gives a nice scrubbing effect too due to it’s texture. Hence when you wash it off, all you get is a clearer & glowing skin which is free of dead & flaky skin. Skin feels taut & little tight too. So do not skip a moisturizer after using this. It helps in treating zits too, but you have to be regular to see a good improvement. Buy here. For oily skin– Neem Purifying Face Wash, Scrub & Face Pack is God Sent as I have experienced. Himalaya Herbals Fairness Kesar Face Wash & Face Pack This is decent combo from Himalaya. The face wash & the face pack really helps to keep complexion fresh & glowing. Himalaya Herbals Fairness Kesar Face Wash smells very nice & pleasant. It is soap free. It contains Kesar & Mint. I believe so because, it has worked on my complexion to keep it tan free last summer when I used it. It does not leather much which it is okay for me. It is like a creamy cleanser. If my skin is irritated or flaky, due to acne ointments, a soothing face wash such as this one, works really good helping it calm down and taking away the flakiness. Now, I do not use the face wash regularly, since I am using AHAGlow, but I like to use it in between when, I really want to use something mild. It does not dry out skin like the Neem purifying face wash. Priced at Rs. 65 for 50ml, which is very affordable too. Buy here. Himalaya Herbals Fairness Kesar Face Pack works great when used in conjunction with the Kesar Face Wash. It maintains the effect of the face wash & vice versa. The face pack is formulated with Turmeric, Kesar, Kaolin, Walnut extracts & Cinnabloc which is a herbal sunblock to prevent skin darkening. I think alone this face pack does not work that great, but if used frequently & along with the kesar face wash, skin can be kept tan free, as my experience says. It is also priced at Rs. 65 for 50ml. Buy here. Himalaya Herbals Natural Glow Fairness Cream I have reviewed it here. I started using it during the recent cold season. Back then it was just too good. Provided enough moisture to my oily-skin-turned combination while keeping it matte for long hours & did not break me out or made me feel sweaty. But I now, I do not need much moisture, I think this is good for Normal to combination skin people during summer while during winter, combination to oily skin people can use it generously. It is priced at Rs. 80 for 50 gm. Also comes in 20 gm packaging. Buy here. Himalaya Herbals (clear) Lip Balm I have used many variants of lip balm from Himalaya, but I mostly reach out for the clear version of it, since it’s the best among it’s colored versions. I mostly use it at night during cold season. I used it last season too, until I received Matra Holistic Lip Balm. I like to use clear lip balm underneath a matte lipstick. Also during night I do not like to use a colored lip balm. Coming to the efficacy of this lip balm from Himalaya, it is a good product. It contains Carrot seed oil & Wheatgerm oil. If I remember correctly this was my first lip balm. Maybe these were the only lip balms available back then during my college days, Maybelline Baby Lips came at a very later stage. This is a thick clear & non sticky lip balm. Comes in a tube rather than a bullet like the moderns versioned lip balms. Lips stays hydrated, soft & supple. Does it’s basic job perfectly. But during summer, it’s consistency changes. its consistency becomes watery if not kept in a refrigerator. It cannot survive much heat. Priced at Rs. 30 for 10 gm. Buy here. Himalaya Herbals Cocoa Butter Intensive Body Lotion I have reviewed it here in detail. It was a nice body lotion. It smelled chocolate. Quite a grab for winter. Himalaya Intensive Face Moisturizing Lotion I used it during winter, & I still use it. Now I use it as a body lotion. It has a very light consistency since it is a lotion. Moisturizes skin very well without feeling heavy. Just trying to finish it. Reviewed here. Himalaya Herbals Moisturizing Aloe Vera Face Wash It is another great face wash from Himalaya which does not dry out skin. It contains Vitamin E to nourish it while cleansing it. Read it’s full review here. Himalaya Herbals Refreshing Cleansing Milk It is a new addition to my stash. I liked it’s formulation while I was checking it out on amazon. It is working nicely as a cleansing milk. It is nice creamy light lotion type in consistency. It contains Lemon, Grape Seed & Mentha sp, to cleanse, hydrate & protect skin. I use it mostly to remove my makeup. It dissolves eye liner, mascara, lipstick, foundation… everything before getting wiped with a moist cotton. Then a final rinse with my face wash, & all the makeup is gone. It can be used by all skin types. I plan to come up with a detailed review on this cleansing milk. It is priced at Rs. 80 for 100ml, which makes it very affordable. Buy here. Himalaya Baby Lotion & Baby Shampoo This combo is multi purpose. Mostly my son uses this combo of lotion & shampoo, but, I too use it & quite like it. Himalaya Herbals Baby Lotion is very light & hydrating lotion. It absorbs into the body within seconds. Suitable to be used in every season. The lotion contains Almond Oil & Olive Oil, which makes it too exotic to miss. The baby lotion is priced at Rs. 80 for 100ml. I generally get the 400ml bottle which lasts my baby (& me) for 3-4 months. The 400ml comes with a pump fitted at the top, which makes it convenient to be used at home. Buy here. Himalaya Herbals Baby Shampoo is packed with Hibiscus & Chickpea, which is a nice formulation. The shampoo is very mild. I use it sometimes, when I want to use a clarifying shampoo on my hair. It does not feel that good while I am still in shower, but later on my hair are soft & shiny. It is priced at Rs. 85 for 100ml while the 200ml bottle is priced at Rs. 160. The shampoo also comes in a 400ml packaging. Buy here. Himalaya Herbals Foot Care Cream I just got it on doubt last winter. I wanted something heavy to treat the dryness around my soles. It proved to be a good product due to its texture & quick absorbing properties. It is a thick off white cream, but spreads easily due to it’s smooth texture. It moisturizes skin by getting absorbed very quickly. I was happy to see that it did not leave behind any oily residue. The cream healed dry spots on my feet. The hardness of my soles was gone too. It’ a nice foot cream. Priced at Rs. 95 for 50gms. Buy here. This was a long post. Hope you did not get bored. You know what I found in my stash hidden deep at the back? Fabindia Clove Acne Control Cream. Don’t remember when I lost it. This is one of my most loved product from Fabindia. It works like a charm every single time. Clove is actually great in healing acne. I am always in look out for clove oil based products. Fabindia Clove Acne Control Cream is the best of them. Lately I have been feeling that faceclin gel has kind of given up on me, after all it’s a topical form of antibiotic. So I am back to using more herbal acne control products. Fabindia is an old flame in that department. Let’s talk about it in detail. About Fabindia Clove Acne Control Cream This is a clove oil based cream with traces of tea tree oil, such an amazing formulation. It’s texture is like a whipped cream hence goes very light on skin and is suitable for all type of skins. The cream is best advised to be used on oily and acne prone skin. This cream not only works on acne but improves skin texture too. Price Rs. 190 for 50ml. Most of the times it is out of stock online as well as offline. Ingredients Packaging It comes in a tub packaging. The tub is off white colored transparent plastic tub with light & dark green detailing on it. The packaging contains all the information about the product. Tub packaging is mostly unhygienic unless you use a spoon or spatula to scoop out the product. Earlier, I have felt the packaging was not sturdy enough but Fabindia seems to have the quality of the tub. It won’t break off easily. Great News : I found a Face Wash that controls Acne permanently 🙂 Color, Texture & Smell It is an off white colored whipped cream And I mean it’s totally whipped. I feel like am applying some thing watery on my face. There is no stickiness or oiliness in the texture. It goes smoothly on my skin. Since it stings due to the presence of clove oil and tea tree oil, I only spot treat my blemishes with this. It smells mostly of Clove Oil only. The smell is kind of pleasant and not pungent entirely. My Experience I have been using it for more than 5-6 years now- on and off. I would use it regularly and after my skin returns to normal, I toss it somewhere in my stash. Since last year I was using Faceclin Gel, which was working without giving a burning sensation to skin. But these days, faceclin is behaving nasty and hardly able to treat my hormonal breakouts. I have been using Fabindia acne control cream from last week again. And it is showing it’s magic on my hormonal & very recent breakout. Fabindia advises to use it twice daily as a skin cream, but it gives burning sensation to my skin even after using it for so many years, hence I use it on my spots only. It vanishes zits in a day or two, and fades scars too, if used early to treat the zits. I also feel it helps to get a better skin texture, with continuous usage in terms of minimized pore appearance. There is no stickiness or oily residue. The whipped cream texture gives matte finish to the skin. The only downside of using this cream is the stinging part, which also gives my skin some redness. The redness subsidies with in an hour or so. That’s why I use it only during night. Likes Contains Clove Oil & Tea Tree Oil, Helps to control acne if used regularly. Fades scars to great extent. Gives smooth textured skin. Nice cooling smell. Affordable. Dislikes Stings like hell. Even after using it for more than 5 years, my skin feels the same sting. Most of the times, it is out of stock, weather I try online or offline. Summary : 4.5 In terms of effectiveness, I would give it a 5. It works like a charm every single time. It contains Clove Oil & Tea Tree Oil as it’s main ingredients which are highly effective in treating acne. The cream also improves skin texture with continuous usage while fading scars. The cream is very affordable & economical. Only if you could only bear the sting…. I really regret sometimes, my habit of hoarding & forgetting stuff. It’s tricky to use a scrub on oily & acne prone skin. It’s important that we reap the benefit of scrubbing without irritating the already exiting acne on the skin. I have very sensitive skin. Sometimes, herbal scrubs irritate my skin if they are too strong. I received Just Herbs Livelyclean Honey Exfoliating Face Cleansing Gel, in my February Fab Bag. Honestly, I have not used much of the Just Herbs products. So I am not quite a fan of Just Herbs (yet). I was neutral about this cleansing gel cum scrub from Just Herbs too, upon seeing it in the fab bag. So how did it work for me? You will get to know about it in while. Just stick with me…. About Just Herbs Livelyclean Honey Exfoliating Face Cleansing Gel This is a mild cleansing gel from Just Herbs enriched with Neem, Holy Basil & Turmeric, known for their anticeptic properties. This cleanser can be used daily. It contains extracts of Arjuna, Symplocos bark and jojoba meal, which give mild exfoliation unclogging pores. Dead skin is dissolved and so are the impurities with thehelp of Orange Peel, revealing fresh new skin beneath. The product is free from SLES/SLS, PEG/PPG, GMO & other synthetic ingredients. Honey moisturizes your skin while keeping it soft & supple. Price Rs. 425 for 100ml. Ingredients Packaging The product comes in a transparent plastic bottle with golden detailing. The 100ml packaging contains a black pump at the top, while the 50ml packaging does not contain a pump, rather is packed with a screw-in metallic cap at the top. There is also a plastic stopped beneath the cap to avoid any spillage. The bottle contains all the information about the product like, features, ingredients & directions to use the product. How To Use It’s an exfoliating cleansing gel. Hence it’s supposed to be used as a scrub. Apply some amount onto the skin and massage gently for few minutes (approx. 3-4). Then wash your face with plain water. Now, if you are following Just Herbs 6 Step Skin Regimen, you can go on with that, or simply moisturize your skin (like I do) after patting it dry. While you are enjoying the scrubbing action of this cleansing gel, please be really gentle. Because , it has little uneven (herbal) scrubbing particles, so there are chances that you might hurt your skin if use more pressure. Color, Texture & Smell It is a honey based cleanser, so it is honey coloured. In fact the texture is also honey like, little runny but workable. It makes quite good lather for being a herbal product and being free of SLS & SLES. It also smells mostly of Honey. You will notice dark brown colored small scrubbing particles which seem to be the extracts of Arjuna & other herbal elements, posted in the about section. My Experience I have been using it from quite a while. I find it extremely useful, when I want mild scrubbing for my face. Excessive scrubbing is bad for skin, but sometimes, my skin is in a phase where it is dry & flaky. In that situation, Just Herbs Livelyclean Honey Exfoliating Face Cleansing Gel fits the bill perfectly. Honey takes care of the dry spots while flakes are taken away by the herbal scrubbing particles. I am left with fresh & calm skin. The cleansing gel smells of honey, feels like honey & works like honey. Since the product contains herbal ingredients, the scrubbing elements are little uneven in size. When I used it for the very first time, I felt it was bit scratchy, maybe because I was not gentle enough. But later on, I went with a light hand & the scrubbing was fun & effective. There was no unwanted scratches on my face. I have not suffered any breakout that I can attribute to this cleansing gel. If I am gentle with the scrubbing part, my sensitive skin does not get irritated despite of the fact that it contains a lot of herbal ingredients. The price I feel is bit on higher side, but eventually it is very economical since I do not need much of the product for a session. Likes Power packed with all herbal ingredients. Does not contain harmful chemicals like SLS/SLES, PEG/PPG, GMO & other synthetic ingredients. Honey based cleanser. Clears skin of dead cells & impurities. Leaves skin moisturized. Suitable for all skin types. Dislikes Pricey. The uneven scrubbing particles can feel little harsh if you are not careful. I wonder how it lathers so well? Summary : 4.5/5 It’s the very first product from Just herbs, that I have liked from the brand. It is mild (if you are gentle while scrubbing), leaves skin fresh, clean & moisturized.
