Packaging
SUGAR Eyes And Shine Shadow Crayon comes in a crayon packaging. The outer packaging of the crayon resembles of SUGAR Matte As Hell lipstick packaging. The outer packaging contains the ingredients and other information about the eye shadow. The crayon itself looks like a chubbier version of Matte As Hell lipstick. And that’ how you can differentiate between the two, There is also a color band at the bottom of the crayon. It needs to be sharpened. SUGAR ships a nice sharpener for this crayon.
Shade – 01 Sapphire Sizzle
SUGAR mentions it as a metallic cobalt blue shade, which is very much technical to understand. I would call it electric blue eye shadow. A shade that goes on every skin tone, be it light, fair, wheatish, medium or dark. This certainly pops up eyes instantly. If you decide to skip makeup, but hate seeing bare eyes, add a dash of this shadow, and you will be sorted.
The shade could look Teal in photographs with artificial lighting. Also, it’s not utterly metallic as SUGAR claims. It has got some glitter but it does not give a full fledged metallic eye look.
Texture & Pigmentation
It’s a crayon eye shadow, hence it’s quite creamy and blend-able. Unlike a powder shadow, it does not fall out or gives your eyes dry patches. The creamy formula is easy to apply even though you don’t wear an eye primer. The high intensity color pigments achieve an opaque finish in no time. There are glitters in the formula, but they do not show up much post application.
Now, as it is a crayon, you can actually layer it as a thick eyeliner too, if you want to.
But being creamy, it can crease sometimes, do not apply too much at once. Go in layers. Also I find it hard to use more than one shades together. As they tend to lose the actual shade upon blending. It’s not that easy to wear more than one shade on your eyes without having to use a transition shade.
How Long Does SUGAR Crayon Shadow Stays On Eyes?
As I mentioned the shade could look bit uneven due to creamy consistency, So you better not apply many layers at once. Let it set/get dry first. Then go for another layer. I have worn it for 4-5 hours on a stretch. I did not face any smudging issues. The eye shadow was intact the whole time.
SUGAR Eyes And Shine Shadow Crayon, presents beautiful 10 shades of eye shadow chubby crayons. These crayons are easy to be carried and use. The texture is creamy and blend-able. The pigmentation is good and so is the staying power of the shadows. The metallic finish could have been better. It looks very much like a normal creamy eye shadow. For a price of Rs. 599, claims should be delivered.
Hope this helps you decide weather to go for this range. The shades are beautiful and I anyway love SUGAR. The range looks bit pricey to me, as you might need more than one shade to create makeup looks.
