As I mentioned in my last post, I have to deal with my oily skin & dry hair issues on my own. On my journey to get a matte & clearer skin, I have been experimenting a lot of clay /powder based masks. Though I was quite happy with this Sandalwood face pack, I went ahead and bought L’Oreal Skin Expert Pure Clay Mask – Purify & Mattify, since beauty bloggers are raving about it so much. After all it’s from L’Oreal, the hype was expected. So I have used it 3-4 times by now following the direction on the pack to use it every alternate day. I feel I can pen down my experience with this new clay based mask in town. You ready? Let’s go.
The clay mask contains 3 pure clays & Eucalyptus. The clay mask helps to get rid of impurities, dirt & oil from the skin which can clog pores & leave skin utterly oily. Purify & Mattify Pure Clay Mask leaves skin clarified, mattified & refreshed skin tone.
What does the combination of Kaolin + Montmorillonite + Morocon Lava Clay + Eucalyptus do to your skin?
- Draws out of impurities, dirt & oils
- Unclogs pores
- Reduces excess oil
- Refreshes & allows skin to breath
Price
Rs. 850 for 48gm.
Ingredients
Packaging
The clay mask comes packaged in a heavy square shaped glass tub with a light green colored lid over it’s mouth. There is also a plastic lid over the mouth to avoid any kind of spill. The outer packaging of the clay mask, which is also light & dark green themed, contains all the information regarding the product like ingredients, price, how to use, about the product etc.
Fragrance & Texture
It smells earthy & quite fresh, as a clay mask is supposed to smell. The texture of the mask is smooth & thick but easy to spread. The mask is light mint colored which also looks very refreshing.
How To Use?
Simply apply a thin layer of the mask over pre cleansed skin. Allow 10-15 minutes to let the mask dry. Remove with water.
My Experience
Clay masks are oily & acne skin’s best friends. They literally soak out gunk & oil out of skin, shrinking pores & giving a healthy look. I just described an ideal clay mask. So did L’Oreal Pure Clay deliver all these qualities?
I love how fresh it smells. Just the right kind of fragrance it has. I feel a smirk on my lips. I use a spatula to take out some product & apply a thin layer over my face leaving my eye area & mouth. For the first 15-20 seconds I feel a nice tingling sensation, like something is penetrating deep into my skin. I love it when a product gives me tingling sensation. The tingling sensation somehow assures me that it is working.
It takes only 10-15 minutes & it is mostly dry. I splash some water on my face and start massaging it in circular motion, the right way to remove a face mask, specially a clay mask. And finally rinse with water, a lot of water. Pat dry and examine my face in the mirror above my bathroom sink.
My skin looks fresh, clean & calm. But I wonder what will it take to get rid of the blocked pore I have few here and there. Yeah, it just can not get rid of those under skin bumps. I think it will take more time to actually see a reduction in blocked pores.
Likes
- Contains 3 clays – Kaolin, Montmorillonite, Moroccan Lava as well as Eucalyptus.
- Smooth texture & spreads nicely on skin.
- Smells very nice.
- Gives a nice tingling sensation, I enjoy it.
- Leaves skin matte, fresh & clean.
- Does not dry out my skin.
- Suitable for all skin types.
- No breakouts or allergies noticed.
Dislikes
- Very pricey for a clay based mask.
- Does not really get rid of the blocked pores. Works superficially.
Overall, I think, L’Oreal Skin Expert Pure Clay Mask – Purify & Mattify, is an average clay mask. The product is not a must have. If you do not have a problematic skin, you would love the refreshing effect it gives to your skin. But otherwise, it would not help much with oily skin issues. ❤❤❤❤
This was my experience. It was not able to impress me or my skin. I would should have tried the exfoliating mask instead.
Do you like to use clay masks? Which one is you HG?
Love…
