And this is how I tried Kaya Acne Free Purifying Toner which contains Mandelic Acid for oily & combination skin.

TIP: If your acne is persisting, switch to AHA. In the form of cleanser, toner or moisturizer. Don’t overdo.

Kaya Acne Free Purifying Toner With Mandelic Acid

This is an alcohol free toner, formulated with Niacinamide(Vitamin B3), Mandelic acid, Botanical extracts of Cucumber, Witch Hazel & Rose. Mandelic acid gently exfoliates and unclogs pores. Cucumber & Witch Hazel, keep a check on excess production of sebum as well as sooth skin. Rose extracts, tones your skin, tightens your pores and give a comfortable feeling. The toner keeps away irritation that may occur from using harsh acne cleansers.

This is one of the most affordable and effective toner I have ever used. It retails at INR 320 for 100ml and you might even find it at discount at several shopping websites. I recently grabbed my second bottle only at 240 rupees. Buy here at heavy discount.

Key Ingredients

Niacinamide(Vitamin B3)

This is a water soluble vitamin and works really well with the natural substance of skin to minimize enlarged pores, improves uneven skin texture, reduces wrinkles and fine lines.

Mandelic Acid

Derived from Bitter Almonds, Mandelic acid is Alpha Hydroxy Acid. Mandelic Acid cannot penetrate the skin as deppely as Glycolic acid can. Because it has a larger molecule structure than Glycolic Acid. So it is gentle and provides a mild exfoliation. It can show great results in reducing fine lines and wrinkles though.

Cucumber

Cucumber hydrates skin, keeping it plump and glowing. It has anti oxidant, anti inflammatory, soothing and cooling properties as well.  It also helps to heal skin after a sun burn.

Witch Hazel

It has astringent properties which can dry up acne. It is very effective for acne prone skin.

Rose

It moisturizes and tones skin. It has soothing, anti oxidant and anti inflammatory properties.

Packaging

The toner is packed in a white colored opaque plastic bottle.The bottle has a spray pump fitted at it’s mouth, so you can spray it directly over your skin. There is a transparent plastic cap over the pump which fits with a click sound. So no spill is possible. There are labels on and around the bottle which tells you about the product. The ingredient details are also provided at the back of the bottle.

Not sure if it also comes in smaller pack. Because it would be bit inconvenient to carry a 100ml bottle. You can transfer some amount to a travel kit.

Fragrance & Texture

The fragrance of the toner is very mild. It’s not much noticeable but has chemical hints. I generally don’t even notice it. It evaporates pretty after the application.

Coming to the texture of the toner, it’s almost like water. But when sprayed on a cotton, it looks frothy and white. There is no oiliness or stickiness left after the application of the toner.

Does Kaya Acne Free Purifying Toner Really Work To Control Acne & Blackhead?

I can speak by my experience. I have used LA Roche Posay & Vichy Normaderm toners  and felt cheated because one actually broke me out more while the other did not do anything for me. So, I only wasted thousands of bucks and have not even been able to finish them. As a result, I really started doubting the beauty bloggers who were raving about these products.

I understand every body’s skin is different. Every body’s acne has some underlying issues. Those issues might be just your skin deep or they may lie in your liver. So it’s quite a complex thing and you got to do your research before investing your money.

AHA works for acne in a better way as compared to BHA

I read opposite, but it’s true. Alpha Hydroxy Acids are better than Beta Hydroxy Acids when it comes to acne treatment. I used Salicylic Acid for years and it could not give me the results I was looking for. My jawline was still filled with blocked pores which would turn into pimples in 2-3 days. BHA disappointed me.

AHA is much stronger and works deeply to exfoliate skin increasing skin cell turnover. When there is no dead skin, there would be very less chances that acne bacteria could survive on your face. And that’s why Kaya Acne Free Purifying Toner works for me. Even though my acne issues and excess oil are related to my hormonal imbalance, but at least it keeps my skin clean. So the problem is being tackled at a superficial level.

It took me 2 – 3 weeks to notice that my clogged pores were drying off and I was not getting new comedones. My jaw line is clear which is next to impossible.

No wonder Plum Green Tea Clear Face Mask works the best for me since it contains Glycolic Acid (AHA). I also noticed that when I was using Perenne Glycolic face wash my acne cleared up.  Daily usage of that face wash really helped me with my blocked pores but not as much as Kaya toner did.

How Do I Use Kaya Acne Free Purifying Toner ?

Just like a normal toner. I hate to use a cotton pad as it feels like an extra step. I directly spray it on my skin excluding my eyes and mouth. Pat it dry. It takes about a minute to completely soak in as it’s winter here. Hope during summer it will soak in within a minute.

I use it in the morning after shower and before my bed time. Here is my AM/PM skin care routine.

A.M. Skincare Routine : Ponds Charcoal Face Wash → Kaya Acne Free Purifying Toner → Olay Regenerist Revitalizing Serum (If I fee like to) → Neutrogena Oil Free Moisturizer → La Shield SPF 50 Sunscreen

P.M. Skincare Routine : Cleanser (containing AHA) → Toner → O3+ AgeLock Vitamin C Serum  → MamaEarth Night Cream or Plum Night Gel

I have recently included an AHA cleanser in my night time regimen and the combo of the cleanser and toner are working beautifully. Will be reviewing the cleanser soon.
