Everyone loves Aloe Vera Gel from Patanjali. I need to confess, I particularly have never loved the original green Aloe Vera Gel from Patanjali. I bought it many times, but I never really liked it that much. I always had some issues with this. When I used this during winter, it left my skin feeling stretchy, while during monsoon & summer, it made my skin itchy & sticky. I wonder how it got along so well with every body else in the world?
Every time I bought this gel, I ended up using it on my hair instead. Though, it never showed really great results on my dry hair ends too, I just needed to finish this somehow.
Last month I bought, Patanjali Soundarya Kesar Chandan Aloe Vera Gel, the newer version of Aloe Vera Gel from Patanjali. I was very hesitant, but, I still got it for review purpose only. I was so sure, I was not going to like that one also. But I was wrong.

Ingredients
How To Use
The gel can be used at night before retiring to bed. Apply a thin layer over your face, do not worry about your pillow, the gel will instantly get absorbed. In case you have normal to dry skin, you can apply a thick layer or another moisturizer/night cream over the gel. You can also use it as a face mask or as face massage gel, how ever you like to use.
Packaging
It comes in yellow colored transparent packaging to disguise the active ingredients such as Aloe Vera Gel, Sandalwood & Saffron. The original Aloe Vera Gel, is packed in a green colored transparent tube. The yellow bright packaging of this new variant is attractive. Every information about the product has been mentioned over the pack.
Color, Texture & Smell
This is a yellow colored gel. The gel is non sticky, better in consistency than the basic variant or at least I think so. It seems to be providing more water content to my skin. I like how easily it gets absorbed into my skin. There is no residue left. It smells milder than the basic version. The basic version had too sweet smell for my liking. This version, has more pleasant and mild smell.
My Experience
It is said that, oily skin should use gel based products. But I feel gel based product does not provide enough moisture to my skin. They just make my skin feel more stretchy & hence it produces more oil, making it sticky. I rather like to use lightweight lotions which seem to quench my skin’s mild thirst.
The basic version of Aloe Vera Gel from Patanjali posed the same problem to my skin. It never provided enough moisture to my skin, just made it feel stretchy initially & later made it sticky. Sometimes, it even irritated my sensitive skin due to stretchy feeling. I failed to use it in an efficient way.
When I used the new variant, I first noticed the mild smell, which was a good change. Next, the texture was more watery. It instantly calmed down my skin, upon application. I did not use it regularly, but used it very seldom, only when it was reachable and visible in my stash, or whenever I wanted to test it.
From last few days, I feel this is a great product. It does good to my skin as my skin stays hydrated & calm. That’s all I expect form Aloe Vera Gel to do. I do not expect it to brighten my face, because, it would be like a lot to ask for. But in case, I found some brightening effect which I could attribute to this gel, I would update this post.
Why I like Soundarya version more than the basic version? Because of it’s smell & better moisturizing properties. It is better in every aspect. I like the packaging too. It does not make my face stretchy or sticky. It’s almost like a lotion in gel form. Skin feels soft & supple. Keeps skin matte.
Affordability & availability is never a problem with Patanjali products. I would recommend using this advance version if you have acne prone, oily & sensitive skin if you too do not like the basic version much.
Do you agree with my experience? Is there anyone, who actually did not like the original version of Aloe Vera Gel from Patanjali? Or am I hallucinating? Is it just me?
Let me know… okay?
Have a nice Sunday 🙂

I have used both the versions but liked the original one mostly because the original one moisturize my skin perfectly (not too much yet not too less) and secondly I do not like kesar fragrance much.
A friend of mine has normal skin, she likes the Kesar version more.

Aloe Vera Gel is suitable for all skin types. But since it is gel, you might need bit heavy for dry skin types. It suits my sensitive skin.
