Today we are discussing The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash & Mattifying Toner. Being an oily-combination girl for the longest time of my life I have learnt a very basic lesson. Add potent products in your daily skin care and your skin will thank you later. By ‘potent thing’ I didn’t mean the harsh oil-clearing washes and scrubs but some ingredients that are milder yet effective in the long run. Tea tree oil is one such wonder ingredient that prevents pimple by killing the microbes from the surface of the skin. It also helps with the inflammation caused by active acne. The Body Shop Tea Tree Face Wash, is something I always wanted to try out as it contains tea tree essential oil which is great for oily, acne prone skin. Read on to know how I feel about these. The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash & Mattifying Toner The community trade Tea Tree oil derived range from The Body Shop is your ideal companion to fight against pimple and acne. The face wash and toner combo helps you clear oil, dirt and acne-genic bacteria from your skin keeping it matte and happy. Infused with tea tree oil, the formula of the face wash gently cleanses your pores, making them appear smaller. The toner, acts as an astringent to balance your skin’s pH level and create a protective barrier against the bacteria. Price I bought the face cleanser for Rs.645 and the toner for Rs.695 (250ml quantity each) but recently The Body Shop has hiked the price. The new price is Rs.695 and Rs.795 respectively. Buy here Ingredients Packaging The Body Shop’s regular skin and hair care products are generally sold in recycled plastic bottles. The Tea Tree range face wash and toner also come in similar packaging. Keeping up with the theme color of the tea tree range, the packaging and the color of the bottle is deep green. Both the bottles are equal in size (250ml) and their graphical label designs are also very similar. You have a high chance of making mistake unless you read the label before pouring out the product. Color, Consistency & Texture The Body Shop Tea Tree Facial Wash– The facial wash is light green in color and its texture is medium. It is a gel based no-foam face wash. The formula contains tea tree essential oil in substantial amount so the wash gives a slight cooling sensation. The strong formula of the wash may dry out your skin if used in excess. The Body Shop Tea Tree Mattifying Toner- The toner is a pale yellowish green watery fluid. Its consistency is thin and runny. Just like the face wash, the toner also has strong presence of tea tree oil. This toner has mattifying powder component ( Tapiocha starch / “Sabudana”) along with the liquid base. You have to give it a good shake to mix the liquid and powder to make it more effective. Fragrance Both the face wash and toner has mild refreshing tea tree essential oil smell. The smell does not feel bothersome to me. It stays only for a couple of minutes. After that it becomes fragrance free experience. My Take on The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash & Mattifying Toner I do a thorough research before buying something new for my skin and hair. I did the same before buying this face wash and toner as well. The reviews said the formula is strong and it might leave a slight burning sensation and dryness. So, I decided to take just two drops of wash and toner for each use. This was the perfect quantity for my skin. The wash was able to make my skin squeaky clean and that too without drying out. I do not have sensitive skin so it did not give the burning or stinging sensation. The slight tingling sensation brought a refreshing feel. The toner too has similar cooling sensation. The face wash contains sulphate, still, it does not lather much. The toner has alcohol, naturally the formula might irritate sensitive skin. I do not have such skin type so I was saved. Results Coming to the effectiveness, the face wash is awesome in terms of skin purifying. It helps in preventing pimples and reducing bumps of pimple. But to take the full benefit you have to massage it for 20-30 seconds. The wash unclogs the pores. It cleared small zits of clogged pores from my skin. The toner has strong antibacterial properties. It soothes the skin and calms down the redness and itching of pimples temporarily. Though the name says it’s a mattifying toner, it does not mattify my skin at all. The skin gets oily after sometime as it does without this. This range works pretty well on pimples but it did not fade my old acne marks to even the slightest. More From The Body Shop Skin Polishing at Home : The Body Shop Vitamin C Glow Boosting Microdermabrasion Here’s Is Why I Ditched The Body Shop Banana Conditioner The Body Shop Oils Of Life Intensely Revitalising Sleeping Cream Why The Body Shop Tea Tree Mattifying Toner Does Not Mattify Skin? The toner contains mattifying powder ( Tapiocha Starch), so that the skin is mattified the very instance I apply it. My skin senses the absence of moisture and triggers the underlying oil glands to produce more oil. So in no time, my skin accumulates more oil and it feels sticky. Editor Says: I have used this range, but I loved only The Body Shop Tea Tree Night Lotion, which worked on active pimples, as well as on old acne scars. To keep a skin balanced it’s important to never dry out skin. This range can dry out skin, if you are not careful, and rather prove to be harmful for your skin. Good Things Awesome face cleanser range for pimple prone skin Made from skin-friendly ingredients and community trade tea tree oil from Mount Kenya Freshens up tired skin The face wash, provides deep cleansing and prevents acne Need only few drops to work with. Bad Things Available only in 250ml standard size; no travel size for testing Not a pocket friendly range The toner is not effective in keeping my skin balanced. Does not fade old acne marks Summary – The Body Shop Tea Tree Range Skin Clearing Range Facial Wash Toner Texture Gel Based Water Based Fragrance Mild, Tea Tree Oil Mild Tea Tree Oil Consistency Gel Based Workable Very Runny Mattifying Effect Keeps Skin Matte Skin Turns Bit sticky Contains SLS Yes No Effective On Acne Yes No USP Tea Tree Oil Tea Tree Oil Flaw Contains Sulphate & Chemicals Loaded With Chemicals Price Rs. 695 for 250ml Rs. 795 for 250ml Recommended Yes No Rating- 3.75/5 If you are someone with recurring pimple issues, The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash and Toner is perfect treat for your skin. The gentle formula makes the skin squeaky clean and helps in balancing the pH level of the skin. The facial wash deep cleanses your pores, killing the acnegenic bacteria. If you are budget constraints or want to try only one product from this range, definitely go for the facial wash. This was about my experience with The Body Shop Tea Tree Skin Clearing Facial Wash and Mattifying Toner. I hope you liked it and it could enable you to decide if this range is for you or not. Guest Post By Sreeparna Ganguly.

Hi Gorgeous. Banana hair mask is very effective in achieving beautiful & shiny locks. My sister swears by it. This pack has reversed her re-bonding hair damage. But preparing a banana hair mask and rinsing it might put you off. It’s kind of a lot of work. The Body Shop Banana Conditioner is loved by all. And that’s why I too picked it up. After all, I am another lazy soul to prepare a banana mask by myself. Today I am going to share how this banana conditioner worked for my (extreme) dry hair, given that my hair has totally gotten a taste of rich conditioners and masks such as the very recent Plum Olive & Macadamia oil mega moisturizing hair mask. The Body Shop Banana Conditioner It’s a vintage conditioner from TBS. It”s been a holy grail conditioner of many of the beauty bloggers. The Body Shop Banana Truly Nourishing Conditioner is for Normal to Dry hair. This conditioner contains real banana puree as it’s main ingredient which is highly nourishing for any kind of hair. The conditioner is rich, thick & creamy in texture, leaves hair detangled and nourished. Price & Availability : The conditioner is priced at INR 645 for 250ml and is available at Amazon, Nykaa Ingredients Packaging TBS banana conditioner is packed in a transparent 250ml plastic bottle with a narrow neck. There is a black colored flip top cap fixed at it’s mouth which could be screwed to open. The bottle is fat hence not sure how travel friendly it is, but it is sturdy. There is no product leakage or wastage due to very practical design. But being the product very thick in texture, the product takes a lot of time to come out specially when you have consumed half the bottle. Ingredients and manufacturing details are provided over the bottle. TBS Banana Conditioner – Fragrance & Texture When a conditioner is made out of banana puree, that’s how it is supposed to smell. It smells of very sweet bananas. The smell is sweet to the point that it makes me feel sick. I love bananas, but I surely do not like my hair to smell like banana puree. The smell lingers on hair even after the conditioner has been washed off. The color of the conditioner is also as yellow as a banana puree would be. Texture wise it is as thick as banana puree would be, but it is surely more smother than my homemade banana puree. How Effective Is The Body Shop Banana Conditioner On Dry Hair? My hair are dry. Now even colored ta the ends, so you can guess the amount of moisture they can soak in. I got TBS banana conditioner on really high hopes. Beauty bloggers has been in awe of this conditioner since it’s launch a decade ago. I have used up half the bottle of this conditioner. After shampooing my hair, with a sulfate free shampoo, I towel dry my hair and then proceed to apply this conditioner starting from my mid lengths to the ends. I keep it on my hair for 10-15 minutes, and then I wash it away. While washing it away it makes me feel that my hair are softer than before. Later I air dry my hair. Coming to the after effects, my hair are not detangled completely after using this conditioner. They still feel thirsty and raw. I need a generous amount of hair serum to detangle them and manage them. I have had better results with even least performing Garnier Ultra blend conditioner, while TBS really disappointed me with it. Not to mention the banana puree smell that stays even after washing, is annoying. My Reasons To Ditch The Body Shop Banana Conditioner It is not enough moisturizing despite of the fact that it contains banana puree. It smells too sweet that it makes me nauseous Hair does not stay soft after I have air dried my hair. Costly for a non performing product It’s hard to take out the product out of the bottle as it is thick I think, it would work better on normal and fine hair. This hair conditioner is definitely not for me, and I think I would pass it on to my sister who has fine hair. I would update you guys if it worked for her. I love The Body Shop for it’s skin care, but it’s hair care has definitely not proved effective on my hair. If you too have dry & damaged hair, I think you can skip, this conditioner and rather go for Plum. – Nisha ♥

The Body Shop, has been my favourite brand, for skin care. I just love the Tea Tree and Vitamin C range. I recently tried out it’s Vitamin E Night Nourishing Cream, and even my husband is impressed. Texture, Colour & Smell This is a light yellow coloured gel based cream. The smell of this cream is very spicy since it contains a lot of herbs. I just love how refreshing it is. I smell it again and again. My Skin Type I have oily, acne prone and sensitive skin. My Views Even though it’s winters I can’t opt in for heavy night creams. Even while using TBS Vitamin E Cream, I was little afraid, that it might break me out. But nothing like that happened. I opted in for TBS Oils of life, because, it is meant to be used for oily skin. The formula of this cream is gel like and glides easily on skin. I need to massage it little bit. Once it’s absorbed it does not feel oily or sticky. The cream just sinks into the skin and there is no oily residue. Skin instantly looks plumped. I love the hydration it provides Skin’s moisture levels are restored. After a month of using this night cream, my skin’s texture has improved. Skin’s moisture levels are restored. Even if I don’t wear a moisturiser in the morning, skin does not feel stretchy or dry. My skin feels balanced and stays radiant & glowy the whole day long. I think it would make a good night cream for summers too, just guessing. Likes Gel like texture suitable for all skin types. Gives intense hydration without feeling heavy on skin. Skin looks plumped & radiant just after first application. Skin stays moisturised even the next day. Does not break out skin. Ideal night cream for oily & combination skins during winters. One pot lasts long. Dislikes Price. Tub packaging is bulky and prone to breakage. Summary : 4.5/5 An ideal hydrating night cream perfect for oily to combination skin during winters. Pricey but worth it. What is your favourite form TBS? Leave your comments. Also Check Out TBS Vitamin E Night Cream Do You Need A Night Cream? Love.

“Mummy Finger, Mummy Finger, Where Are You? Here I Am, Here I Am, How Do You Do? “ I just love whenever he sing this line, he has got such a beautiful voice. What I got for you today? It’s a very cute packaged. Its light pink, and it’s moisturizing. It’s a night cream from The Body Shop. The Body Shop is one of the few brands, which promotes cruelty free products. It means that the products are not tested on animals. The Vitamin E cream from TBS is a rich night cream to revive dull skin. It is suitable for all skin types. The Body Shop Vitamin E Nourishing Night Cream This rich night cream replenishes moisture levels while you sleep. • Intensively hydrates • Works when skin is at its most receptive • Leaves skin soft and smooth Price Rs. 495 for 15 ml. Rs. 1195 for 50ml. Availability Available online and offline at The Body Shop counters Packaging Comes in a cute light pink tub with black lid. Comes in travel size (15ml) and regular size packaging (50ml). Texture, Colour & Smell It is rich yet fast absorbing, light pink coloured cream with subtle yet chemically smell. My Experience I have oily + acne prone skin which is also sensitive. So I have to choose my skin care and makeup very carefully. I was bit reluctant while trying this moisture rich cream, but I gathered courage and somehow tried it. And I have to say, I am really impressed. It is highly moisturizing and a safe bet for winter nights when you can replenish your skin using little extra moisture. I didn’t break out even though it is little rich than my regular gel based night creams. It is rich but it still gets absorbed easily without leaving even a hint of greasiness. Skin feels very soft and supple by the morning. All the dry patches are gone. One pea size cream is required for my face and another pea size for neck. My hubby is also a fan of this Vitamin E cream. He has dry skin. I asked him to use this night cream. He really liked the after effects. There is no stretchy feeling even after washing his face in the morning. Now he uses this regularly. Likes Rich in moisture. Contains Vitamin E, which provides anti ageing benefits to skin. Dull skin is revived. Visible results with few applications. Less quantity is required for each application. Gets easily absorbed. No greasiness left behind. Suitable for all skin types. Travel size packaging available The Body Shop is a cruelty free brand. Dislikes Price Tub packaging Summary : 4/5 A great night cream from a cruelty free brand. Contains the goodness of Vitamin E. It is rich in moisture but absorbs really fast without leaving any greasiness behind. Which one is your favourite product from TBS? Leave your comments below. Love…

Since my last empties post, I have been restocking stuff that are essential for my skin care. Have a look. Night Creams – The Body Shop & L’Oreal Paris: I know you will ask why so many night creams. The Body Shop Oils of Life is my current favourite. I can’t stop using it, it’s so addictive. The Body Shop Vitamin E Night Cream is a high in moisture cream, which suits my hubby. My sister gifted me L’Oreal Paris White Perfect Laser Night Cream, since she did not like the way it stings her. While I have used it during last winters, and I didn’t feel much sting. I might cheat on the body shop’s oils of life and use L’Oreal one some nights. I will review these night creams soon. Night Serum: I am quite loving this Vitamin C Serum from O3+. This is my second bottle. One lasted me exactly for 3 and a half months. Using a serum before a night cream, is a deadly combo. Oriflame Optimals Eye Cream : I have this habit of using a separate eye cream because, I may not use a moisturiser always. I alternate between Forest Essentials Eye Cream & Oriflame Optimals Seeing Is Believing. Biotique Bio Clove: Even though it’s winters but my hormones probably don’t know this. I still get small zits, nothing major. This clove oil based face pack comes handy. Maybelline Gel Eye Liner: My HG Black Eye Liner. I have been using it from more than 5 years. It lasts very long. Maybelline White Super Fresh Compact : I am not a regular compact wearer, but sometimes, I need one, when I just need to even out my skin tone without having to wear a foundation. Reviewed here. I have got some bath and body products too, will share pretty soon. Take Care. Love.
