LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Creamy Beige is the most recent addition to my makeup collection. Before this I loved using NYX Sculpt & Highlight Duo Stick in Almond Light as my concealer cum highlighter. How much it agreed with my skin tone. After the NYX stick got over, I had to find almost as good concealer as NYX stick was. I have had used LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Corrector in Orange and I knew I liked the consistency and finish of this range. So I tried my hands on the concealer from this range. I was bit confused between Pure Beige & Creamy Beige. Strolled through various blogs for swatches and finally zeroed on Creamy Beige. What are Concealers & Color Correctors? How To Use Color Correctors? Difference Between Color Corrector & Concealer? LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer One of its kind, a concealer that is water resistant, crease resistance and smudge proof. Ultra creamy yet lightweight texture blends like a dream giving you ultimate coverage. Available in 24 shades, the range covers all skin tones. Covers dark circles and under eye fine lines. Evens out skin tone. Sweat proof, smudge proof. Price & Availability The concealer is available widely online. You can buy this concealer in a price range of INR 275 to INR 775 depending upon the store. I got it from Amazon at a huge discount. It is also available over Nykaa. The quantity you get is only 8gm. Packaging L.A. Girl HD Pro Conceal range is packaged in a very convenient packaging. The concealer comes in a squeezable small tube with an applicator brush attached to it. It adds a lot of convenience. But you need to squeeze the tube with light hand otherwise you could waste the product. Ingredient list is printed over the tube but in very small fonts. Ingredients LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer Creamy Beige Creamy Beige is a shade that is ideal for wheatish skin tones. It has got nice yellow tones, and some times look bit orangish too. The orange hue also work as a color corrector for my under eye area, giving perfect coverage under foundation. I wear it with Lakme CC cream also without any issues. If you are worried that orange hue would look obvious, worry not. They kind of go away very soon, only leaving your under eye looking even toned and brighter. Pigmentation, Fragrance & Texture The texture of the concealer is ultra creamy but it does not suffocate skin. It still feels very light weight upon application. It sets easily, and does not smudge for hours. It does not wipe away with sweat. How amazing is that. It also gives nice coverage due to its rich pigmentation. One swipe of brush under each eye is enough to cover my dark circles. After few minutes I wear CC cream or foundation with out any interference of the concealer.It has mild sweet fragrance which is not very much noticeable. It never melts even during my outdoor fashion shoots. It never creases. I am amazed how beautiful the coverage and finish a concealer could give. I find it much close to the finish of NYX Sculpt & Highlight stick which is double the price of the concealer. I have never used this concealer over pimple or marks but I am sure it would work amazingly over there too. LA Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer in Creamy Beige is a nice blend-able, creamy & high coverage concealer that suits wheatish skin. It has some orange hues to color correct dark circles. The finish offered by the concealer is opaque and crease less. The concealer never smudges and is quite affordable too. To suit every skin tone, there is range of color corrector and concealers. Some girls are blessed with flawless skin, for the others, there are concealer and corrector. I fall in the later category. To start with my skin problems, acne would just not leave me alone, hence lots of acne spots. Then there are shadows around my eyes, as my eyes are deep set. So technically my obsession with makeup is justified. In my tryst with makeup, I got familiar with foundation. I realized how a foundation can make my skin look better. But when you have a troubled skin, a foundation alone can not do much. You need something more. What is a Concealer? A concealer is generally a concentrated makeup in form of powder, cream or liquid which matches your skin tone but helps to hide dark spots, blemishes and dark circles. A concealer can be used alone set with a translucent powder. It could be also worn under or over a foundation. It is your personal choice how to wear it. What is a Color Corrector? A color corrector is a concealer but it does not necessarily have to match your skin tone like a foundation. It is meant to neutralize the discoloration of skin due to blemishes, age spots, dark circles etc. The color corrector comes in different colors such as Orange, Green ,Peach, Purple, Yellow etc. Now you wonder, what is specific about the color of the corrector? Peach – Goes for light skins to cover dark spots and dark circles. Green – It works to neutralize red color be it an angry pimple or a red spot. Orange – Really dark circles on wheatish to dark skin can be neutralized with an orange corrector. An orange corrector can also be used as a bronzer or for contouring purpose. Purple – A purple corrector can brighten up extremely pale /yellow skin tone. Yellow – If you have blue veins/ blue bruises or spots on face, this corrector will hide them. White – It is mostly used to highlight your eyes. But be moderate or you will end up looking a ghost. Concealer VS Color Corrector Basically they are just the same. With just special term given to colored concealer- a corrector. A concealer matches your skin tone and it can be worn with or without a foundation depending upon the coverage you want. If you feel you have few dark spots or just light shadows around your eyes that you need to hide, you can go alone with a concealer. A concealer must match your skin tone as a foundation would. On contrary, a color corrector is of specific color and it neutralizes some deep problems like dark circles, purple blemishes, red angry pimples etc. You must invest in a color corrector only after identifying your problem areas. How To Set A Crease-free Concealer? Wearing a crease less concealer is like a dream specially under your eyes. Even a crease less formula concealer can crease if not worn correctly. If you mostly get crease under your eyes, avoid setting the concealer with a powder. Instead use a primer. Wearing a primer under your eyes before your concealer will give you a smooth & flawless finish. How To Wear A Concealer With A Foundation? A concealer can be worn without a foundation. But if you must apply a foundation, you can use a concealer before a foundation or after a foundation. If you have much problematic skin, you can opt to wear it before your foundation so that the foundation gives a flawless look. In this case you will need a lot of concealer. But if you have minor skin and you feel your foundation is not able to cover them, then apply a tiny amount wherever required over the foundation. Do not forget to blend the concealer seamlessly into the foundation or you will get a cakey look. If you are wearing a neutral concealer, you can wear it without a foundation. But if you are using a color corrector, you would feel a need to wear a foundation over it. Concealer Tools There are concealer brushes that you can get from any brand. You can also use a sponge or beauty blender to apply and blend a concealer. I mostly use my fingers to set concealer under my eyes since the warmth really helps me to blend the concealer perfectly. Just patting the concealer under my eyes, works perfectly. Got pigmentation around your mouth? Try an orange concealer. Pat some foundation over it matching your skin tone. Have you ever noticed, if you are trying to cover your dark circles using a concealer or foundation, it gives bit of ashy or gray-ish finish. Specially if you have very intense dark circles, you will not be much satisfied with the finish. So it means you are missing a step in your base. It’s a corrector that you must be using before applying your concealer or foundation. I am sure you would want to know about L.A. Girl Pro Conceal HD Concealer – Orange Corrector is priced at Rs. 575 for 8gm, but lasts you like for an year since just a swipe of this corrector is all you need. Ingredients Packaging The whole range of the corrector and concealers from L.A. Girl HD Pro Conceal comes in opaque tubes with a brush-tip attached to the tube mouth and a long black screw-in cap to avoid spillage. The orange corrector comes in a orange opaque tube with black accents on it. The product name, shade name, ingredients etc are printed on the tube. The soft brush attached on the mouth of the tube is really handy as it makes it really easy for me to apply the product under my eye area. The brush tip is really soft and does not feel harsh on the delicate under eye area. Fragrance & Texture The fragrance of the product is negligible and I never notice any smell out of the tube. I too feel makeup products should not have much fragrance to them. Coming to the texture of the orange corrector, it is creamy and blendable but sets as quickly as you apply it. So it is important to blend it quickly. The blendablity of the corrector is really commendable though. How To Use It is a pre concealer / pre-foundation makeup step. It is a corrector. It covers up/ neutralizes skin blemishes and dark circles so that your skin looks naturally beautiful. It should be applied on fresh & makeup free skin. It should be your next step after cleansing-toning-moisturizing. Start with makeup free but thoroughly moisturized skin. Swirl around the blemish you want to cover. Or swipe across your under eye area if you want to cover your dark circles. Pat lightly. Apply translucent powder/ concealer/foundation to set the concealer. Pigmentation The orange concealer is highly pigmented and my dark circle needs only one light swipe of this corrector. If I somehow put a bit more, then my wheatish complexion starts giving out orange-ish hue. So one must be really accurate with the quantity applied. If you have light-fair skin tone, a peach corrector is most suitable for you for dark skin tones orange corrector work the best. If your skin tone lies in between then you can use a peach as well as an orange corrector but just use a little. Finish It sets off quickly in matte finish. It feels like your own skin. There is no powdery residue after it’s dry. I really like the finish as it does not feel like a layer which could be rubbed off while applying a concealer or foundation over it. The concealer does not interfere with the application nor with the longevity of the other makeup that is layered upon it. Hence there are no staying power issues related to it. It also comes off easily with a makeup remover. Concluding the review, I like how effectively it neutralizes my dark circles which some times look gross whenever I am not able to catch enough sleep. The formula is lightweight, blendable and quick dry. It sets off like your second skin. It is affordable and economical. Less is more for this corrector otherwise it can give orange hue.
