I wish .. this spring never ends & the summer never comes… oh my vivid dreams. Summer brings sweat, hot flushes & tan. Only there are few breezy evenings that can give little sighs of relief. The freshness of bath gets lost as soon as you step out of the shower. You reach out for blotting sheets every hour. But summer awaits us with it’s arms wide open. It’s coming to us. The only thing that we can do is to be summer ready. Do not forget these very small things if you want to sail through summer with ease…. Lightweight Clothes You might have already packed your woolens by now, since Indian Summer is already here. It’s early & will stay till late. But just packing your woolens does not make you summer ready. You need to redo your closet with summer essential clothing too. Cotton is every body’s favorite fabric to wear during summer. It also comes in different verities plus you get a lot of options when coming to the designs. Similarly there are many more such lightweight fabrics which lets your skin breathe through. They keep your skin cool by letting air pass through it. Sunscreen/ Sunblock A sunblock protects you against the UVB rays of the sun, while a sunscreen is formulated to protect you against the UVA rays of the sun. But with the advancement in technology, there are many products that gives broad spectrum protection against UVA as well as UVB rays of the sun. Choose your sunscreen or sunblock wisely depending on the amount of that you spend outdoors. Neutrogena Ultra Sheer Dry Touch Sunblock SPF 50+& PA++ Jovees Sun Block UVA/UVB with Anjeer & Carrot Lotus Herbals Safe Sun 3-in-1 Matte Look Daily Sunblock SPF 40 PA+++ Use Lightweight Skin Care & Makeup Products Ditch those heavy moisturizers & go for lightweight skin care products that would not make your skin sweaty. If you like, you can go for water based or gel based consistencies to soothe your skin. Do not suffocate your skin with heavy makeup. You should opt for powder based foundations/blushes if you must use one. You can use tinted sunscreen which gives you coverage as well as sun protection. Do Not Forget Your Hair & Body Wash your hair every other day if you are out daily. Because there are chances that your scalp gets more dirt & oil deposited Also try to cover your skin as much as possible while you are outdoors to keep away tan. Apply sunscreen/sunblock to your body parts which are open & exposed to the sun like your hands & feet. Be Friends With Face Mist Face Mists can rejuvenate skin instantly. You can use them any time, any where. The face mists might be as simple as rose water or a much hyped product such as a spring water (from any brand). Face mists might seem just plain water but most of them are power packed with light moisturizers, which would give you a plumped skin instantly. Summer Hats & Goggles They really bring out the queen in you. Don’t you agree? I know, you can’t use a hat always & every where, but yeah a nice aviator would only enhance your personality & would add to your style statement. Now coming to the technical factor, get a nice pair of shades with UA/UV filters to protect your precious eyes. Skin beneath & around eyes is very fragile & sun rays can really damage them beyond repair, hence protect them. Fruits & Juices Eat fresh & look fresh. During summer, you might not feel to eat much, but feeding on fruits & juices is really good idea. It’s just going to add to your overall health & beauty. In case you do feel like eating solid food, have some salad or few slices of fruits. Coconut water is another great way to quench your thirst if you think fruits juices are too sweet for you. Drink As Much As you Can Water is going to save you. Drink enough water every day. You might want to set reminders, if you are quite forgetful about drinking water (like me). It is believed that, by the time you realize you are thirsty, you are already dehydrated. So do not let that happen. Reach out for water every now and then, keep it in front of you and within the reach of your arm so that you do not forget or feel lazy to grab it & drink it. Relax & Rest Enough Get enough sleep, and try to relax often. Plan your day. Always stay equipped with sun protection & water. Do not skip your breakfast. Exercising daily or almost daily is a good idea too, as it will keep your body & mind healthy. So these were my few tips, you must be aware of every single thing wrote above. I just wanted to remind you about this, that’s all. Stay Summer Safe!!!

Aarti Sharma from Rohtak, asks me how I wear those perfect matte lips. She says whenever she wears matte lipsticks, her lips start to look patchy & dry after 2-3 hours. Also her lips are little pigmented. She seeks some advice. Instead of giving her a reply on email, I thought, it’s something I can share with you all. Do you too love wearing matte lipsticks? I too. Specially summers call for matte lipsticks for long lasting color on lips. It’s actually really easy to flaunt perfectly shaped matte lips in just few steps. Read on… Exfoliate You Lips Regularly Lips exfoliation is as important as skin exfoliation. Our lips accumulate dead skin & product build up in every 2-3 days. It’s important to exfoliate and reveal new, soft & radiant lips. You can exfoliate your lips using your toothbrush or using a lip scrub. You can also use natural lip scrub made at home. How to exfoliate lips using toothbrush? You do not have to use much techniques while using a toothbrush to scrub your lips. You can do this while you are brushing your teeth. After brushing your teeth, while the toothbrush is still wet, gently scrub your lips with circular motion for a minute or two and you will notice baby soft & pink lips afterwords. You can also use ready made lip scrubs or can make a simple lip scrub by mixing a tablespoon of sugar (white/brown) with little Oilve/Almond Oil. Use this scrub to exfoliate your lips. You should exfoliate lips once every 2-3 days, this will give your lips smooth & healthy look while giving a perfect base for lip products. Moisturize Your Lips Lip balms are a must if you are going for a matte lipstick. You should opt for a clear lip balm so that it does not interfere with the application & color of the lipstick that you are going to wear. You do not have to go full throttle with the lip balm, just swipe it across your lips once and you will get enough moisture. Choose nice lip balm, the cheap and chemically laden lip balms hurt your soft skin & induces pigmentation. If possible wear SPF infused lip balms to protect them from sun damage. Apply Foundation/Compact To bring out the perfect color on lips, this is a nice step to follow if you are comfortable. Apply some foundation or compact powder over your lips. This step also enhances long lasting color & smudge free look for hours. Whenever you wear foundation on your face, wear some on your lips too. Line Your Lips It is important to line your lips. No matter how beautifully shaped lips you have, you should define the outer lines of your lips. It gives a clean finish to your lipstick. Also a lip liner can correct any flawed outlines too. You can draw new lines on to your lips giving them fuller look. Make sure to choose the shade of the lip liner closest to that of your lipstick. Apply Your Shade It’s the time to wear your favorite matte lipstick. Start from the center of your upper lip and apply till the end on both sides, then apply on the bottom lip. Blot & Reapply To enhance the longevity of the color on your lips, blot it with a tissue & then reapply. This will also bring out the true color of the lipstick on your lips. Quick Tip: Exfoliating lips regularly, moisturizing lips & using high quality lip products helps keeping lips soft & pigmentation free. These were my few tips to flaunt that perfect matte pout. This may seem a lot, but trust me does not take much time, when you have to wear a matte lipstick for long hours without smudge, you should follow these steps with out fail. Enjoy.

Our skin & hair can be beautified with Vitamin E oil because it is a great source of anti-oxidants. Vitamin E capsules can be used directly on skin & hair to reap the major benefits of Vitamin E oil. Not only wrinkled skin but dull hair & weak nails can be treated with Vitamin E oil/capsules. It’s easy to use Vitamin E oil capsules whenever you need them. How To Use Vitamin E Oil Capsules As I said it is easier to use vitamin E capsules rather than obtaining a bottle of Vitamin E oil. You can slit open as many capsules as much you want. The oil won’t be contaminated by coming in contact with air or any other environmental pollutant. You just need to puncture a capsule and press the oil out of the capsule into a bowl/container. It can be directly applied to skin or hair or mixed with hair/face packs. Treat Dark Spots With Vitamin E Oil A beautiful face is ruined with dark spots left behind pimples/acne or skin ageing. It cuts down a person’s confidence. Every body wants to have a clear skin first. Vitamin E oil can be used to treat such dark spots. You can either directly apply them on to the scars or mix them with your regular serum/moisturizer. Persistence is the key. To get rid of the scars totally keep on using the Vitamin E oil regularly until completely satisfied. Treat Wrinkles With Vitamin E Oil Vitamin E is a great source of anti oxidants hence it can turn over a dull/wrinkled skin 360°. Regularly apply some Vitamin E oil on your face, preferably at night. Massage your face for few minutes to make the Vitamin E oil absorbed into skin better. Vitamin E oil can be felt little sticky, you can wipe it off with light hands after massage if you do not like the sticky feeling. Balance Sebum With Vitamin E Oil Oily skin can also be balanced out with Vitamin E oil. Surprised? It’s true. If you feel your skin is producing a lot of oil, try mixing some vitamin E oil with your regular moisturizer, and there will be a significant reduction in the production of unwanted sebum. Strong & Beautiful Nails With Vitamin E Oil Every girl wants to have beautiful, shiny & strong nails. But it needs some effort girls. If you do not care for your nails, they break off easily or can turn yellow too. Vitamin E oil has come to your rescue. Break off a Vitamin E oil capsule, apply over & around your nails and massage daily for few weeks to find strong & beautiful nails. Strong & Shiny Hair With Vitamin E Oil Hair can also be benefited with Vitamin E oil. You can slit open few Vitamin E oil capsules or pour 5-7ml of Vitamin E oil from a bottle into the hair oil of your choice. Apply this mixture to your sectioned hair & massage gently with the help of your fingers. Let it stay overnight for better results. Within few application you will notice your hair are more shiny & strong . Hair breakage will be minimized too. Treat Sunburn With Vitamin E Oil If your skin is sunburned do not worry, Vitamin E Oil can help you to great extent. Mix some Vitamin E oil with your moisturizer & apply to the affected area. Your skin will get back to normal very soon. Word Of Caution Try to use purest Vitamin E oil for major effects. Do not use Vitamin E oil on same area for more than twice a day. If you have sensitive skin, either consult your doctor or at least do a patch test before applying the oil to your skin. So, have you used Vitamin E oil ever to treat something or just to beautify your skin & hair in general? Leave your comments. Love.

It’s been long since I write something under #thebasicsseries. Today I am going to talk about the very basic thing that we girls like, putting on a kajal. Some of us put only kajal in the name of makeup(nothing wrong with that too). Most of us have even mastered the art of winged eyeliners by now, but flaunting a sharp and smudge free kajal all day long is another thing. The most basic question how do I stop my kajal from getting smudged, stays answered. Even I have been through this. I have deep set of eyes which gives me permanent hollows around my eyes. Kajal used to give me raccoon eyes in a matter of just 2 hours at max. But not anymore. I do not fear of raccoon eyes. Now I know what it takes to wear a kajal like a pro. Most of the kohls come with smudge free claim but not every kajal gives 100% smudge free look. Here are my 2 cents on wearing a kajal perfectly. Clean You Face No makeup can go flawlessly if you have got layers of oil and dirt on your face. Even if you are only going to wear it is important to make sure your under eye area is free of oil & dirt. The oil & dirt under your eyes will interfere with the application and performance of your kajal. After cleansing your face carry on with the basic steps of toning & moisturizing. If you wear an eye cream, do not skip wearing it but make it absorbed fully before picking up your favorite kajal in your hand. Use Little Powder Unless you apply a primer under your eyes( which I think is debatable), you can dab little translucent or compact powder under your eyes and upon your eye lids if you are going for a heavy eye makeup look. Do not swipe or rub the powder but just dab it over your skin. This will mattify your under eye area and you will get a superb finish. Apply The Kajal Yes you can go ahead with the kajal application now. Start from the inner rim til the outer corner of your eye. Repeat unless you get the desired pigmentation. This is the general rule of applying a kajal. One must apply kajal suiting to eye shape. For example I have very small eyes, I generally apply half kajal, starting from the outer corner to the center of my eye in conjunction with a white kajal on my water line to give an illusion of wide eyes.We will discuss about this in detail in some other post. Use A Dash Of Eyeshadow Now this is an important step in the direction to prevent kajal from smudging. Use a basic black or grey eyeshadow powder to coat your kajal precisely. In order to prevent any fallout on you under eye area, you can put a tissue before proceeding with this step. You can go with a light coating to give a clean kajal look, or can go heavy coating giving a smokey eye look. Use Earbuds/Q-Tip To set the kajal or achieve a smokey look gently swipe an ear bud/q-tip over the kajal. This will ensure a long stay of your kajal keeping it intact and in place for all day long. All will take away if excess of kajal has been applied. Kajal/Kohl Or Gel Liner? Gel liners are so in from past few years. They have almost replaced conventional kajal sticks for the kajal lovers. I have been a fan of Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner from many years. I actually stopped buying kajals during those years since the gel liner gave such a precise application and finish while being smudge free. But when I tested SUGAR Kohl, my love for the classic kajal pencil returned and this is what I have been using every now and then. Gel liners are easy to apply because they are high in consistency & pigmentation hence do not smudge upto 99%. You can just apply it and forget. There are even coloured liners available to flatter every eye colour. But the gel liners can be applied with a brush only, so it takes few applications before you get a perfect application. The beauty of these gel liners is that these are safe to be used on waterline as well as you can flaunt them on eye lid also. If you like to use a kajal only make sure to get a good quality kajal. Your eyes are precious and a cheap quality product can be harmful to your eyes. But it does not mean that high end products are your only options. There are so many kajals available for 200-500 bucks which certainly won’t burn a hole in your pocket. Poured all what I know about kohl application. Hope you liked this article.
