I have tried lots of skin and hair care items and this brand has never disappointed me with the quality and affordability. I find myself attracted towards the Lotus Herbals counter every time I pay a visit to the local beauty supply store. I don’t know why but I haven’t explored Lotus Herbals’ make-up range that much. Except for their kajal I own nothing from the make-up range. So, this time I got myself two nail paints from Lotus’ Color Dew range. In my today’s post you are going to find out how they performed. About Lotus Herbals Color Dew Nail Enamel Most nail enamels contain Acetone and Toluene that often cause skin irritation and lead to dull and fragile nails. Colour Dew is a range of exciting nail enamels that are completely safe for your nails as it is Acetone, DBP and Toluene free. Packaged uniquely, it comes with a flat & sturdy brush applicator. And the best quality is that dries fast so that you are spared from the trouble of re-colouring your nails again and again. Ingredients Not mentioned in details. The write-up only mentions ‘Toluene & DBP free’. Price Rs.120 for 7ml . Buy here. How To Use Clean your nails with nail polish remover, shape your nails. Choose the nail enamel which you want to apply. Before applying the nail enamel rub the bottle between your hands so that contents mix up well. Apply the nail enamel in 3 strokes .after drying up apply the 2nd coat. Packaging The Nail colours of Lotus’s Colour Dew series come in sleek cylindrical glass bottles with shiny silver plastic screw cap in conical shape. The medium thick applicator brush, attached to the lid of the nail paint bottle works nicely at spreading the product evenly on the nails. There is literally no label graphics anywhere in the bottle but the see-through bottle still looks chic due to its conical cap and simple packaging. I am not telling it’s a treat for my eyes as I am a huge fan of alluring packaging. But, the packaging is travel-safe, leakage-proof and sturdy. Texture These Lotus nail colours have very thin consistency. They are the most runny nail paints I have ever used. I think it is their toluene and phthalate free formula that makes their nail colours so ‘liquidy’. Fragrance Both the nail paints have strong acetone smell to them. Though the smell seems intense at the beginning, it does not take long to fade off. Shade 955 Fairy Flare Since it is summer time, I am into pastel nails these days. So, both of the Colour Dew nail paints are also from pastel shade range. This one is a neutral toned coral pink colour. The shade is sweet and girly. The name is correct in the sense it reminds me of fairy dresses from my childhood wardrobeJ. The shade looks pretty on every one and it is not an over-the-top bold colour. It is more of an everyday pink for summer days. Shade 902 Nude Pink This colour is pretty much ivory with slight pinkish hint to it. Although the shade name has ‘Nude’ to it, the shade would be the match to very fair skin tones only. This shade becomes muted pastel white to most Indian skin tones including mine. This kind of shade looks great with dense mehendi painted hands. Pigmentation Due to the light texture, these nail paints goes opaque on nails once you apply two coats. If you apply one coat the Nude Pink shade looks slightly uneven. I am thankful that the actual colour shows or my 120 bucks will have gone astray. Longevity The staying power is quite good with these nail colours. They remain as it is for 4-5 days without any base or top coat if it is given ample time to dry and the hands are not into hard works. Then it starts to chip from the sides of my nails. My Views The Colour Dew series of nail paints are quite raved about in my friends circle. So, this time I made my first attempt by getting these two shades for myself. When I first applied the nail paints, my first impression was ‘Oh! The shades are too runny. Will they give opaque coverage?’ After 2 coats the light shade also gave full coverage to my relief! The coral shade, Fairy Flare is simply awesome. I was in need of such a shade for long. The staying power is also good with these nail paints. Here I want a special mention on the applicator. The applicator is longer than most other nail colours plus the conical cap makes it a bit more long. The application becomes very easy with it. I am going to get some other darker shades from this range because according to my friends they are really nice. Likes Nice and wide shade range Does not contain harmful Pthalates and toluene Staying power is good Attractive and travel-friendly packaging Affordable price-point Dislikes Consistency is liquidy Colour needs two coats to become opaque Summary I would recommend Lotus Herbals Colour Dew nail enamels in Fairy Flare to someone who is searching for a coral pink nail paint and the Nude Pink shade to someone who want a muted ivory shade with hints of pink. So, I recently got myself the 3-In-1 Matte Look Daily Sunblock SPF 40 PA+++ from Lotus Herbals. This is not at all a new product for me; it is my fourth repurchase to be precise. Like most other products of this brand, it also contains complete ingredients list, shelf life, claims and an eye-soothing label graphics. The packaging is simple, sturdy but nothing fancy; it’s just the signature tube that is quite common among the Lotus Herbals Safe Sun range products. Colour, Texture & Smell The sunblock is tinted. The texture is smooth and the consistency is on the thinner side. It feels light on the skin. It has a nice floral fragrance; nothing too over powering. My Skin Type Oily to Combination, Acne-prone. My Views I have been loving this product for 3-4 years now because it seems to be the perfect sunscreen for humid summer of my place and my skin type. I apply it in the morning after cleansing and toning. As I apply it to the skin, it starts getting absorbed. Within 2 minutes it sets into perfect matte. In mid-summer days I do not need any moisturizer over this. For other times, when certain area of my face gets drier, I dab a bit of my regular moisturizer. This tinted sunscreen has very low coverage. It just evens out the skin tone. Which is why, it works for people of every complexion. It does not leave whitish cast on skin. I have experienced no skin irritations, outbreak or aggravation in my existing pimples as well. This product contains Oxybenzone to fight with various types of sun allergies and Octyl Methoxy Cinnamate to filter out the harmful rays of sun. These ingredients protect my skin from burning sensations on my skin for 3-4 hours which is great considering my sun sensitivity problem. Likes Offers protection from harmful UVA and UVB rays of sun. Gives non-greasy matte finish. Has tint that makes skin look even toned. Works for all skin types. Full ingredient list is mentioned. Nice smell. Budget friendly. Dislikes Could not find any. Summary: 5/5 I would recommend this matte sunscreen to anyone who wants a budget-friendly, high SPF & PA tinted sunscreen for broad spectrum protection. In my opinion, everyone should give it a try irrespective of their skin type. For people like me who have oily and acne-prone skin, this step is vital to keep the facial pores clear all the time. This way a major part of lingering acne problem can be solved. I generally put my faith on strong acne face washes for this purpose but they tend to make my skin flaky dry in winter. So, this year I decided to give Lotus Herbals JOJOBAWASH Active Milli Capsules Nourishing Face Wash a try. I will be presenting my experience of the same to you today. Stay tuned to know how it fared on me. About Lotus Herbals Jojoba Face Wash With Active Milli Capsules The innovative milli capsules present in this premium face wash contain herbal extracts of Jojoba, Avocado and Vitamin E. These active ingredients are delivered direct to your face for best results. Your face not only gets cleansed, it also gets nourished. Price Rs.75 for 50gm Active Herbal Ingredients Jojoba Gently cleanses, natural moisturiser, provides deep skin nourishment and maintains natural pH balanace. Avocado Makes skin soft. Vitamin E Prevents water loss from the skin & helps retain natural moisture. How To Use Squeeze a small quantity on wet palm of your hand. Crush milli capsules and work out lather. Apply on your wet face with circular motions. Wash off. Packaging This face cleanser comes in a light yellow transparent flip-top tube. In the opening of the tube, there sits a yellow flip-top cap that also has a screw-open facility. This kind of dual open cap is very convenient when it comes to Lotus Herbals face washes as most of them have a tendency to dispense excess product through the opening of the flip-top cap. Colour, Texture & Smell This face wash is basically a transparent and colourless liquid which has some sparsely distributed cleansing beads called ‘Milli Capsules’ suspended in it. Colour wise they are blue, yellow and light greyish blue. When I massage the cleanser in my face they get smashed. These Milli capsules provide extra nourishment to the skin. It has mild floral fragrance. The smell is not at all overpowering and lingers for only 10-15 minutes after application. Suitability In my opinion, this is a great winter face cleanser for all skin types. Although it is not a foaming cleanser it produces enough lather to cleanse my face well in the winter when the sebum secretion is less. But I do not think this product would be enough to cleanse my extremely oily face in the summer time. My Views At first, I was sceptical of using only this cleanser as my existing acne face wash was able to clear the breakouts to some extent. So, I started to use it as my night time facial wash. I followed it up with a non-comedogenic moisturiser. For the first 2-3 days everything looked the same about my face. I felt the dryness was a little less than before. I could see no aggravation in my existing pimples. After that, I decided to take a chance. I stopped my acne face wash totally and carried on with this twice a day. For the next 2 weeks, I relied upon only this cleanser and moisturiser. I applied nothing else to my face in the time span, not even my favourite sunscreen or BB cream. I could notice a subtle glow in my skin after 1 week of continuous usage. It hydrated my skin well and soothed the dry zones of my face. I did not experience any new breakout, though, the existing zits were healing at their own pace and the acne marks remained same too. I do not consider it a con because the product does not claim any such things. It claims to cleanse and nourish the skin that it certainly does. Likes Herbal formula. Nourishes my skin. Gives my face a subtle glow. Pocket friendly. Cleanses well. Full ingredient list is mentioned. For all skin types. Travel friendly packaging. Dislikes Not free from sulphates and parabens Summary: 4.5/5 I would recommend this budget friendly face wash to everyone who wants a mild herbal face cleanser for soft and supple skin. I have used many products from the Lotus Herbals WHITEGLOW range, day creme, serum, scrub, masque and night cream. Few weeks back I also got the Body Lotion from this range just to test it out. Let’s dive into the details straight away. Lotus Herbals WHITEGLOW Skin Whitening And Brightening Hand And Body Lotion SPF 25 It is a technologically advanced formulation that provides triple action on skin – LIGHTENING, WHITENING & BRIGHTENING with the help of rare fruit and proven plant extracts that penetrate deep into the skin to provide enduring action. The result, your skin looks soft, fair and radiant. LIGHTENS It lightens skin tone by reducing uneven pigmentation. WHITENS It unveils visibly fairer skin by reducing dark spots. BRIGHTENS It enhances skin’s radiance naturally. Price Rs. 295 for 300ml. Ingredients Packaging It comes in a white opaque plastic bottle with pump with lock. Texture, Colour & Smell It is a white creamy lotion with powdery but sweet smell. My Views This won’t be considered a good choice for winter days, but I still got it, just to try out something different. I have already used many products from the Whiteglow range of Lotus Herbals, hence, was confident that it won’t be a dud. I like the texture is very creamy, it spreads easily and also gets absorbed really fast. There is no sticky feeling or oily residue after the body lotion has been absorbed. The moisturising properties of this body lotion are decent. There are no dry lines on hands or body. But dry days & dry skins need intense moisture. Either re-apply it after 2- 3 hours or use something more intense as Vaseline Cocoa Lotion or Joy Body Lotion. I like the intense brightening effect it gives. Maybe because of the SPF it contains, body and hands look little bright. Skin feels smooth and soft too. It keeps the tan away. The smell is little powdery but is sweet and bearable. It goes away pretty soon. Likes It de-tans skin and keeps the tan away. Decent moisturisation even in winter. It contains SPF 25 and protects from UV rays. Spreads and absorbs easily. No stickiness or oily residue. Lockable Pump makes it easy to use. For all skin types. Dislikes Will make a good body lotion for summer but, winter requires heavy body lotions. Summary : 4.5 It is a nice body lotion with SPF 25 for summers. It keeps skin bright and even toned while you are enjoying the summer sun. For winters you should skip this.
