Hi, Product buildup, dirt, pollution & sweat really freak out my sensitive scalp. If not taken care, scalp may develop fungal infection in these circumstances. I make sure to use a shampoo containing Ketoconazole whenever I feel bit discomfort on my scalp or atleast once in 2-3 weeks I use such shampoo as a clarifying shampoo. I do not suffer from dandruff issues, but during summer/monsoon, my scalp generally feels bit itchy. Ketomac Anti Dandruff shampoo contains 2% Ketoconazole which is helpful in calming down my scalp. Ingredients Ketoconazole 2% & Shampoo base. Packaging Ketomac Anti dandruff shampoo comes in a transparent plastic bottle with a rust colored flip top cap. The outer packaging is white & red themed. The shampoo has a cheesy tag line as “Balon ko awaragi karne do“. Information about the product like ingredients, how to use, price etc are printed on the outer as well as on the shampoo bottle. Fragrance & Texture The fragrance of Ketomac shampoo is chemically sweet. The smell is not pungent but is quite noticeable. Texture wise the shampoo is gel based & quite runny. In the bottle, the shampoo looks bit of orangish, otherwise it is mostly clear with orangish hue. It lathers very well upon mixing with water. How To Use? The shampoo is supposed to be applied on wet hair and left on scalp for about 5 minutes before rinsing it with water. To control dandruff, the shampoo must be used twice a week for 4 weeks or until scalp clears. After that use the shampoo once a week to keep the scalp clear. To control itchiness, use the shampoo whenever you your scalp feels discomfort. Use it once in every 2-3 week to ensure scalp stays free of fungal infection if you scalp is prone to develop one. My Experience This is a strong shampoo since it contains a heavy chemical. It dries out hair & hence I would not suggest to use it more than twice a week even if you have heavy dandruff issues. To balance out things, this is what I do. I do not apply it on my hair. I apply this shampoo only on my scalp on crown area and leave it there only for 2-3 minutes before rinsing it out with water. Then I follow up with a moisturizing/mild shampoo to clean my hair. I never skip using a nice moisturizing conditioner/hair masque. My hubby has dandruff issues, and he too uses this shampoo to control this problem. He uses this shampoo once or twice a week, but never experienced any kind of hair fall problem. Coming to the dandruff treatment, it clears his scalp upto 80-90% which he considers a significant result. Likes Contains Ketoconazole which is a potent drug to treat dandruff & fungus infection. It is basically a drug-store shampoo to cater various scalp problems like dandruff and itchiness. The two main ingredients of this product are Ketoconazole and Zinc Pyrithione. Ketoconazole is an anti-fungal often used to treat fungal infections like dandruff while Zinc Pyrithione is an anti-bacterial and antifungal substance that helps to cure Seborrhoeic Dermatitis. Some other popular dandruff curing cleansers including Clear use Zinc Pyrithione in their formula. I think I have become an authority of this particular product because I have been using this product for 10+ years! So, here we go with my experience on Scalpe+. About Ketoconazole and Zinc Pyrithione Shampoo Scalpe+ For Dandruff & Seborrhoeic Dermatitis of Scalp Price Rs.256 for 75ml Ingredients Ketoconazole IP 2% w/w Zinc Pyrithione 1% w/w (as dispersion) In a conditioning base q.s. Colour :Carmoisine How to Use Wet hair and scalp and apply sufficient shampoo to produce enough lather. Massage for one minute and rinse with warm water. Repeat procedure for additional 3 minutes. Rinse with warm water and dry hair. Use twice a week for four weeks and followed by once weekly as maintenance therapy or use as directed by the Physician. Packaging This anti-dandruff shampoo comes in a white plastic squeeze bottle with fuchsia plastic flip-open lid. The bottle has a very easy-grip shape which helps to hold the shampoo bottle in the damp environment of my shower area. Like any other common shampoos this shampoo also has label graphics and the useful information in written form. The shampoo bottle came housed inside a cardboard packaging but I cannot show it to you because I lost that. As every bit of information, mentioned in that box is also written in the bottle; I do not have to worry! Color, Texture & Smell Scalpe+ shampoo is baby pink in color. It has a mild floral smell to it. The fragrance is similar to Sunsilk’s pink variant. This shampoo has medium-to dense thickness. The consistency is comparable to Head & Shoulder shampoos. My Views Dandruff had never been very acute on my case until I was diagnosed with hormonal disorders. Even now you won’t be able to find tiny dandruff flakes on my scalp except for the ‘season-change’ time. But, I like to keep this lotion, which is basically a cleansing shampoo kind of product, handy at all times because I suffer with irritating itchy scalp whenever I get dandruff. I follow the usage instruction strictly at this dandruff-phase. When the problem subsides I increase the gap between each two uses because overuse of this seems to make my hair dry and prone to split-ends like most of the dandruff shampoos in the market including Head & Shoulder. This deep cleansing property on the other hand makes this shampoo a nice clarifying cleanser to get rid of the product build-ups in my scalp. Coming to the performance, Scalpe shampoo has proved itself to be worthy to stay in my stash by its excellent dandruff catering caliber! Whenever I start to get itchy dandruff or oily dandruff, I use this and within a week the problem disappears completely. It does not smell bad like some other medicated dandruff shampoos and does not make my hair that much dry as well. I just have to heavy-oil my hair beforehand to quarantine the drying effects, which is not a big price to pay to relieve my scalp issues.
