BB & CC Creams are my everyday’s staple but when it comes to special events no doubt I need a matte, transfer resistant, sweat proof, shine-proof & with build-able coverage foundation. I loved using L’Oreal Tue Match, few years back, and hence I picked up L’Oreal Infallible Stay Fresh 24H foundation 140 Golden Beige without hesitation. Today while looking for something, I stumbled upon this foundation and realized I have not reviewed it on the blog. So here I am presenting my views on this foundation. L’Oreal Infallible Stay Fresh 24H Foundation 140 Golden Beige Price Rs. 1400 for 30ml. Buy here at discounted price. Ingredients Packaging It comes in a transparent glass bottle with a pump fitted at the top. The pump is covered with a red cap to avoid accidental pumping. The shade name & number are printed on the cap as well as at the bottle. Ingredient list can be found ta the back of the bottle by peeling the label. The packaging is leak proof as I have traveled many times with this foundation in my luggage. And never experienced any leakage. L’Oreal Infallible Stay Fresh 24H Foundation – Shades Infallible foundation is introduced in many shades covering the pales to the dusky beauties. All the shades are provided below: 120 Vanilla, 125 Natural Rose, 140 Rose Beige, 150 Radiant Beige, 200 Golden Sand, 220 Sand, 235 Honey, 250 Radiant Sand, 300 Amber, 320 Caramel toffee L’Oreal Infallible Stay Fresh 24H Foundation 140 Golden Beige I got this foundation online. I literally went through every single review and swatch for this particular foundation to find my shade. I know I should have visited a physical store to get my shade matched, but I was really occupied by then and I had an event coming up. So I decided to buy this online. Golden Beige is a universal shade for me in terms of bases. The are the closest. Hence I decided to go with this shade. UPDATE: I also got L’Oreal Infallible Stay Fresh 24H Foundation Radiant Beige 150 as it is closest to Golden Beige 140 and matches my skin tone more. The shade has yellow tint to match my undertones, but somehow, I find the finish is more of grey-pink. Which kind of put me off. It’s nothing major, but it is not a perfect match for my wheatish skin tone. After blending a bit of pinkish hue can be seen. Fragrance & Texture It is a nice creamy foundation but goes matte very soon, hence one needs to be quick with the application. I would advise to moisturize skin thoroughly as it is a matte finish foundation otherwise you would not be able to blend in the foundation properly. A primer would ease the blending & perfect the finish. I mostly use my fingers to blend it, but it can be blended very well using a brush or a beauty blender. Pigmentation / Coverage The pigmentation of this foundation is very impressive. A coin sized foundation would nicely cover acne scars & even out skin very well. It gives medium to full coverage because it is buildable. Finish It sets off in matte (bit of powdery) finish. It kind of last really long since it does not transfer or smudge once set. As it has quick drying formula, I do not have to wait for my other makeup to put on. The finish is non oily & shine free for hours. Longevity As I mentioned above due to it’s texture & finish, it lasts very long on my oily skin even during summer. That’s the best feature of this foundation. A foundation should last really long so that other makeup can stay intact. It can really stand the Delhi heat & humidity. I have worn it for full days. Likes Smooth & fine texture. Gives a very natural finish while hiding imperfections. Does not transfer or smudge. Stays intact for long. A wide range of shades to choose from Does not look cakey. No whitecast. Contains SPF 18. Gives Medium coverage which is build-able. Does not break my skin. Dislikes Pricey. Golden Beige shade gives grey-pinkish hue to wheatish skin Summary : 4.75/5 L’Oreal Paris Infallible Stay Fresh 24H Foundation is no doubt a favorite of makeup junkies because of it’s smooth texture, build-able pigmentation, long lasting formula & matte finish. Also the shade range is impressive. I would grab another close shade soon. The high price can be ignored for the performance it gives. So girls, do you buy your foundation online? If you know your shade, you can go ahead with the purchase, but do you risk buying a new range without swatching it on yourself? Good Morning. Finally Saturday. Smell of Coziness. This is going to be a great day, I tell you. There is a lot of stuff lying around from my fab bag subscriptions. You know Fab Bag… right? FabBag.com started luxury product sampling about 2 years back in India. It is still rocking. It provides sample of luxurious brands or the brands that are not available in India otherwise. In case we like some product sample, we can order full size product from Fab Bag. Sometimes we receive full size products too as a bonus. This is a great idea to get familiar with new brands and test them out for your needs. I quite liked it. But sometimes, the products are duds. I received Geri G. Innocent Foundation in one of my Fab Bag Subscription. Let me tell you, how it fared on me. About Geri G. For optimal results use over Geri G. Transceutical Canvas. Price Rs. 2500 for 30ml. Ingredients Shades Only to shades of this foundation are available with Fab Bag. Light & Medium.I got this foundation in Medium. This has yellow undertones and suits my medium fair-wheatish skin. Packaging Comes in a see through plastic bottle with white pump and silver cap. The packaging is classy, sturdy & travel friendly. Texture & Smell The texture of the foundation is velvety smooth. Goes on skin very smoothly. The smell is mild and pleasant. My Views It claims to be containing antioxidants, omega 3’s & Nanomarine-5 Complex. All these ingredients are supposed to be working as anti ageing agents. So it sounds really good, but of course I can’t test this claim. It is water based, which makes it suitable for all skin types even for oily skin. Glides on skin smoothly. The shade medium goes fine with my wheatish skin tone. It does not look like I am wearing anything. Gives quite natural finish. The coverage is sheer if you apply just one layer. It just evens out skin. I have tried applying another layer. The coverage builds up little bit, but is not able to hide my acne scars. It would be perfect for someone who has clear skin. It never broke me out or irritated my skin. I did not ever find any dry patches after wearing this foundation even when I skipped wearing a moisturiser to test its moisturisation claims. It didn’t even made my skin feel oily. It has just the perfect formulation. The finish is sheer and glowy. Matte finish can be attained by applying compact or translucent powder over it. I have never worn it for an entire day, since it does not serve the purpose of a foundation to me due to the wrong shade and lack of coverage factor. I have always worn it for few hours to just test it. Except the coverage, I didn’t find any issue with this foundation. The pump disposes off a pea size of the product, enough for one application. Foundations that comes with pumps are really convenient to use. Likes Moisturising Formulation. Water based. Does not accentuate dry patches. Suitable for all skin types. Gave no breakout. Contains anti-oxidants & omega-3’s. Perfect for illuminating and sheer coverage. Layering up the foundation does not look cakey. Comes with a pump. Travel friendly packaging. Dislikes No coverage at all. Even multiple layers does not provide much coverage. Pricey. Summary : 3/5 This foundation is for those lucky people who does not need much coverage but only illuminating and moisturising benefits. It is pricey for a foundation which provide no coverage. Cannot test the anti ageing effects of the foundation. All About Foundations – Volume 2 : #thebasicsseries

How are you liking the series? My main motive to start #thebasicsseries is to address some very small yet crucial queries about skin, hair & makeup. I started this series with night creams. I hope you liked the introduction to foundations. Now let’s move on to more details about the application of foundation. How To Apply Foundation Step 1- Moisturise Very important step, especially if you are using a liquid or powder based foundation. Never forget to moisturize your skin. Other wise the foundation may look flaky or accentuate your dry spots or fine lines. For even looking face, you must moisturize your face. Dry skins should use a heavy duty moisturizer such as Cetaphil while oily skins can use as light as Clean n Clear Oil Free Moisturiser. Also you can put your sunscreen at this step. Step 2 – Prime Primers are important. Primers give a smooth base to start off and keep you makeup intact for hours. They also create a layer between your skin and makeup so that your makeup does not react badly with your skin. NYX primers are my favourites. Step 3 – Dot Start applying the foundation by dotting your face with some foundation. Never start applying foundation with a lot of product. Always take pea size amount and build the coverage as you need. Step 4 – Blend Blending is the key to get a flawless base. You can blend using your fingers, sponge or a brush. Blend the foundation in circular motion to get a pore-less look. If you use straight storks the foundation may look chalky or uneven. Step 5 – Set With Powder You can apply blush/ bronzer and sculpt your face as you want. Now you need to set every thing with a translucent powder. This step is mostly considered optional, but is rather an important step. Dab a little translucent powder over your foundation to keep it in place for longer. It will also prevent your skin to look oily. To apply the powder, only dab on your skin, don’t rub it otherwise you will ruin your base. Need To Wear A Concealer? A high coverage foundation leave little space of concealer. Still, if you must wear a concealer, consider few points. If you are going to wear a corrective concealer (orange, green or purple) wear it before your foundation. If you are going to wear regular concealer, you can wear it after wearing your foundation wherever required. Read Maybelline Fit Me Concealer. Fingers, Sponge Or Brush- What To Use? I think it’s personal choice, and every type of technique has some pros and cons. Blend Using Your Fingers When you blend the foundation using your fingers, your fingers produce little warmth which make the foundation more blendable. But there might be some uneven blending due to uneven pressure applied on the skin. If you are using a heavy coverage foundation, blending with your hands may give cakey look. Blend Using Sponge/Beauty Blender Beauty Blenders are quite in these days. It’s because of the air finish look they give. You can apply any type of makeup with them and not just foundation. You can achieve full coverage with out looking fake. Before applying the foundation using a sponge, dip the sponge into water and squeeze the excess water out of it. Now take the product and apply. This way you will have more natural finish. Sponges eat a lot of product. Blend Using A Brush This is the most commonly used professional method of applying a foundation. You can either use a foundation brush, a stippling brush or any kabuki brush. A foundation brush can be used to achieve more coverage, while a stippling brush can give you an air brush look. Kabuki brushes are dense brushes with small handle mostly used to apply powder foundations. Keep the brushes clean. Do not share your brushes with someone else. Read makeup brush guide to know more about brushes. Foundation With SPF This is a very important thing to consider when you buy a foundation. Foundation is makeup, I generally don’t like foundations which contain SPF, but then there are very few foundations which do not contain some. When your makeup contains SPF, it is likely to give some white cast even though you have chosen the closest colour/undertone. I find this issue with all the Lakme Foundtaions except Lakme Perfecting Liquid. If a foundation contain anything less than SPF 10, it is still okay to work with, but anything more than that, you just can’t escape the white cast. When you should choose a foundation with SPF? When you mostly stay outdoor, you can opt for one. But if you are out constantly for long hours, then you must put a separate sunscreen at regular intervals. If you are going to attend a party or wedding, it’s just not a good idea to use a foundation with SPF. It will only ruin your photographs. It will give you white cast. Inglot makes really awesome foundations that are without SPF. If you wanna go for a budget friendly product, Maybelline Fit Me Foundation is great deal. How to escape the white cast? How to apply foundation without white cast? Dab little powder over your foundation which does not have any SPF and also is closest to your skin tone.This should tone down the white cast to great extent. I conclude my post on foundations here. It’s been a while since I reviewed a foundation. I was about to review Lakme Absolute White Intense Cover, but It’s still lying un-published because, I am yet to click it’s pictures. When I got my hands on to test Lakme 9 to 5 weigthless foundation, I could not resist myself from writing about it after using it just a few times. Lakme 9 To 5 Weight Less Mousse Foundation Lakme 9 to 5 WEIGHTLESS Mousse Foundation is your answer to a workings women’s barrier to using foundation. It is a lightweight foundation meant for everyday use. It is so lightweight that you won’t even feel you are wearing foundation. Price Rs. 575 for 29 gm. Shades Available Rose Ivory [pinkish undertones for fair skin tone] Rose Honey [pinkish undertones for medium skin tone] Beige Vanilla [yellow undertones for wheatish skin tone] Beige Caramel [ yellow undertones for dusky skin tone] I got Rose Ivory. A very wrong shade for me. Beiges go very well on me though. How To Use Apply Lakme 9 to 5 Weightless Foundation to clean, moisturized skin. Just take a small amount of product with the index finger and start applying it to the skin with your fingertips. Usually, you can just apply the mousse in four places: the forehead, nose, chin and cheekbones. Blend into your skin starting from the centre of the skin outwards, taking care to cover your face including your neck. Packaging It comes in an opaque peach coloured tube with silver screw on cap. Travel friendly. Texture & Smell The texture is way to smooth, as soon as you apply it on your skin it just vanishes away into the skin. The smell is mild and pleasant. My Views After Mineral foundation which feels so light, actually does not feel on skin at all. The claim of being weightless is so true. It feels like you are not wearing anything, yet it gives coverage. The coverage that it provides is medium yet you can build up the coverage to get desired results. The texture as I said earlier, is too fine and smooth that it glides effortlessly on skin. As soon as it touches my face, it just vanishes away. I feel like it’s evaporating. It is oil free, I mean totally oil free, I always moisturize well my skin (even though I have oily skin). If I don’t moisturize my skin before using this foundation, my face looks little flaky, which is not a good luck of course. The foundation stays put since it’s oil free, does not smudge or wears off soon. It stays for at least 5-6 hours. Other makeup also goes on easily since it create a very smooth base. I feel it’s loaded with silicons because it makes my face slippery. Like I am amazed by the texture it has. It actually does not feel like you are wearing something. Great for summers when you don’t feel like wearigng anything… errr.. I mean by makeup. Gives medium & buildable coverage. Nice shades to choose from. Does not break out skin. Affordable. Convenient & travel friendly packaging. Dislikes Its loaded with chemicals, my guess, it’s silicons, due to the slippery feeling it gives. Silicons might react badly with your skin. Summary : 4.5/5 One of a kind foundation which is feather like lightweight yet gives coverage. 4 shades to choose from. Gives a smooth base to put your blushes and bronzers on. What you think? Maybelline Fit Me Matte + Poreless Foundation 310 : Review & Swatches

I get to know about a new foundation launch, & I smirk (I am gonna get you girl!!!). I start googling about the offered shades, the texture, the longevity claims etc. If I like what I read, I plan my next visit to a store to swatch the foundation myself. Most of the times, the foundation ends up going home with me. (wink) I got Maybelline Fit Me Foundation, even before it was launched in India. The worst happened, I ended up with a wrong shade. It was wrong shade, but I was very impressed with the texture and coverage. When, finally, it was launched in India, I headed to a nearby store and picked up another shade, which seemed to suit my skin tone. Maybelline Claims: ⦁ Mattifies and refines pores. ⦁ Matches Natural Tone. ⦁ Natural, seamless finish Price: Rs. 525 for 30ml. Texture & Smell: The texture of the foundation is very velvet. It glides very smoothly on skin. Blends effortlessly. Smell is weird, but does not longer for long. Its consistency is quite runny. Availability: Available widely online & offline. Packaging: Comes in a transparent glass bottle without pump. Foundation Shade: 310 Sun Beige Also Check Maybelline Fit Me Foundation – 128 Warm Nude, 230 Natural Buff Swatches My Skin Tone & Type: I have weatish skin tone. I have oily, acne prone & sensitive skin, with visible acne spots & pores. My Experience with Maybelline Fit Me Foundation: As I mentioned earlier, first time, I laid my hands on this foundation, I was stuck with wrong shade. The shade was quite brownish for me. This current shade, Sun Beige, is not quite a match. It is also bit dark for my face. But I would prefer going darker than choosing a lighter tone. I generally find my skin tone match in beige. I quite like its texture, consistency & the coverage it provides. I like how smoothly it glides on my skin, and covers the acne spots effortlessly. I don’t feel the need to use a separate concealer after wearing this. It never gave me breakouts. I have worn this foundation during hot summers days. It is not entirely lightweight, but my face does not sweat. I wish there was a perfect shade for my skin tone. The coverage is build-able, but you have to wait for few minutes before the first layer settles down. Once its settled, it does not transfer, which is a huge plus point for a foundation. Hence it also lasts long on face. The final finish is quite natural unlike Lakme absolute Foundation, which is little cakey. I am not fond of the smell of the foundation, but I can bear it, as it does not linger for long. Likes: Beautiful texture & consistency. High & buildable coverage. Conceals off dark/acne spots on its own. The foundation settles down giving a matte but natural finish and close to your own skin tone. Does not breakout skin. Does not transfer once settled. Lasts for 6-7 hours on oily skin. Quite affordable. Dislikes: No pump provided with the packaging. You have to be careful while taking out the product. Weird smell. Takes quite sometime to settle down unlike Lakme Absolute Foundation Final Word: I think for a drug store product it offers a lot at a very affordable price.
