Your Competition Is You. Once you start understanding the meaning of this golden phrase & start following this mantra, you become a better you every single day. But how do you compete with yourself? How often can you do that? How do you really decide which version is better? Today, I am going a bit off track because I have been to wanting to write about this for a long time. Mostly because I wanted to share my experience with you. I count myself as a hard-working and passionate person when it comes to my goals. Yet gloomy days can take anyone down. But I have a sure shot way to come out of those gloomy thoughts with some tips. I have found a way to self motivate myself every single time I find myself procrastinating. Stop Procrastinating: Get Up & Get Going You have been too much into hibernation. Get up now & hit the road. It’s never too late. You can still make it. You are not too young or too old. There are people doing it despite several hurdles. Starting a beauty and makeup blog of mine, while being into the IT sector for about 10 years, was definitely something, a bit unexpected from me. I opted for something I was secretly passionate about. Passion is the key. As long as you have it, you are good. Admit When You Are Wrong I cannot stress enough on the importance of learning from your own mistakes, because when someone else tells you that you are mistaken, you might not respond very well to that. Here is a tweak, if you find it hard to accept your mistake in front of others, don’t do it straight away. Take some time, accept it in your mind and heart. Think out ways to get out of it. Take things slowly. Start working on the things that could make up for your mistake. It works really well with me. Get Out Of Your Cocoon Things might be wrong, but until you start accepting them they are going to stay like that. Accept your mistake or defeat & get out of your shell with a plan B. If plan B fails, don’t worry, we have more alphabets. It’s only about trying harder. In life, we see ups and downs, but they are never constant. Stay ready for everything. Face Your Fear Everybody has them. Some are less bothered while some make a lot of deal out their fears. The first step is to live your fear as often as possible to get it out of your mind. Because it’s all in your mind. I am not asking to pull off stunts like X-factor or Khatron Ke Khiladi here, but something more practical, like approaching people if you are really shy. Yes, it could be as simple as that and as crucial as that. For me, the biggest fear was to come in front of the camera being of introvert nature. But I am dealing with it by facing it every now and then. I am only getting better with every try. Pat Your Back Only you owe to yourself. And only you know the taste of your success. Celebrate your victories no matter how small they are as much as you want to fuel up yourself for the next journey. Your efforts pay at the end, and you deserve that cheerful “YES”. Help Others, Inspire Others It feels so great whenever you help someone in need. It gives immense pleasure and makes you realize you have capabilities beyond your imagination. Plus it always pays you back. Good things come to those who do good things to others selflessly. I will be honest with you, I might never approach someone first to congratulate someone on their success, but I would definitely be the first person, in case he needs help. Express Gratitude The most powerful ingredient to be a better person is to express gratitude with every single thing you receive no matter how small it is. Your feelings are powerful. They attract alike things. If you are happy & saying thank you, you will receive more happiness. Wonderful no? I mean every single word I wrote. Tell me how far have you come to be a better you? What I Stole From My Mother’s Closet?

Okay, I didn’t steal it, kind of borrowed it to wear it during the upcoming festive season. I just love this very recent piece she has added to her wardrobe. It is a Saree. A pretty pink half Silk Saree with golden detailing. The very moment I saw this piece in her wardrobe I was amazed. I was like, ‘ Oh Mom, how do you manage to get everything so pretty.” She has worn it just once in a party and her friends’ jaws dropped. Well, I could not resist it and decided to borrow it from her hoping to look as beautiful & graceful as she does. Last Sunday, it was a beautiful day. I decided to put on mom’s saree and pose for the camera. It went really well. We were all giggling & enjoying the weather. It was a fun shoot indeed. A cool breeze would come and go playing with my Saree pallu & leaving my hair messy. I paired this beautiful saree with a basic golden blouse in place of contrasting with another bright shade to keep this saree as a highlight. But yes I could not ignore few blue bangles that were hanging in my dresser. The last photograph is my favorite. I find it effortlessly innocent. Hope you too liked this piece from my Mom’s closet. How I Have Evolved In Past One Year?

I was reading a beautiful post by a fellow blogger over bloglovin describing her blogging journey. It sure was fabulous & inspiring. Now, it’s almost one year since I have started my blogging journey. But within these 11 months, I am a completely different person, from within. I have evolved as a woman, as a mother and as a human being. Today, I am going to share my evolution within last 11 months. Who Was I? An introvert… a shy girl always leaning along the wall. Never uttering a word, no matter how tempted I was while sitting in a group of friends. Thinking about thousand times before giving my opinion on a subject I was well versed of. I never really went ahead to make new friends be it school, college and later corporate life. I had always been a kind of non social person generally taken as an egoistic person. I lost many friends after getting busy with life. Some long term friendships took a back seat and now they are limited to birthday wishes. Sometimes I really consider myself to be quite an unfortunate person. I might never find that perfect friendship, I once thought I had. How Blogging Changed Me Into A Better Person? I would not say, I am not an introvert anymore. I still find myself talking to myself. This is never going to change. I am self sufficient. I sometimes fantasize about a life where it’s just me on a never-found-land. Maybe it’s bit selfish, but I do want to live for me for a moment. Books Bring Out The Best Version Of You Blogging demands to think & read more. Reading takes you to another level of intellectual. I was never into self help books. Within last few months, I realized what I have been missing on. It’s not only fiction that can excite your mind, while I was reading “The Secret”, I felt another level of joy & motivation. ‘Friends’ Is Just A Word At every stage of life, we need different kind of people in life. I am in my early 30’s and I do not have time to go for long chat over coffee with my female friends. I am really not looking for shopping buddies. But I know I have a close knit group of women bloggers who are there to help me whenever I need any kind of help. Be it about my 3 years old or a wordpress plugin, they are pro in every department. Are we friends? Not necessarily. Being Messy Is Alright Organizing your life is a good thing. Planing really helps you achieve things within time limits. But I do not always go by clock. I have my setbacks and I do not regret taking a short break from my early morning tight schedule. Messy home does not look good, but it’s better than loosing your peace of mind over small things. Your home will stay messy until your kids give up being messy! I Have Become More Sensitive To The Environment I really can’t stand someone littering around. It’s once cause for which I can give up my shy nature for some time. There are wonderful people that I have come across online who are taking big initiative to protect environment. Until we do our individual duties, these initiatives can not succeed. Being Irrelevant Is Okay Sometimes, go out of routine. Do something weird and make memories to laugh later. Life is so short. Who knows what it is holding for us even if we are alive for longer than other. Plus You Live Only Once. Parents Never Give Up On You It does not matter if you are not doing good in your career or even if you fail. Your parents never judge you. Your happiness is their utmost importance. Your parents are always going to love you unconditionally. They always support you and care for your new ideas for life. Having A Supportive Husband Makes Life Easy I can’t ignore his love & support for my new passion. He exclaims with every milestone that my blog hits. I can share everything with him. He cheers me up when I am not in my usual “let’s do it” mood. He challenges me. There is no stopping for me now. About The Shoot- Well, thanks to my lovely sister, it happened on a Sunday afternoon, when we were looking into each other’s eyes and decided to make something better out of it. Delhi-NCR is not receiving much of rain even during this monsoon season but from last 2-3 days, there are frequent evening showers treating our body and soul. So the weather is really pleasant and inspires to stay joyful. So yesterday, I pushed myself, dressed up a bit, and posed. Saree love is eternal. I am sure everyone of you must love wearing one. Ethnic Diva In Black : #LOTD

Hi, It’s been a long time since I wrote for High On Gloss. Just in the moment of heat I decided to put on a piece from my recent buy, threw on some liner on my eyes & I was ready to rock the look with oxidized Jhumkas in my ears. Actually few days back only, I got few kurtas from W, Aurelia and some other brands. I was just thinking to try them all again because they are so pretty. And there it was, the idea for a new post. For today’s ‘Look Of The Day’ post, I chose a black kurta from W for the look. Here are some glimpse of the look. VAMI Leggings & Blouse : Review

Hello Girls, Leggings are today’s woman’s necessity, if you ask me. Leggings have been around for about a decade now & they have become indispensable. They have become our daily comfort wear. We see so many lifestyle brands coming with quality product and with a shade card so that we do not have to worry about getting a perfect match to our kurti or tunic. It’s time that brands take it to the another level of comfort & functionality. Oh wait, actually, VAMI has got that aspect covered. About 2 weeks back, I attended a blogger’s meet at Delhi held by VAMI – a lifestyle brand by Bonjour Group. I also receievd some goodies from the brand – three leggings in different colors & styles and a blouse. I have been wearing them all since so that I could write my experience here. VAMI – Leggings & Blouse VAMI is a lifestyle brand started in 2012, by Bonjour Group, which is again the first Indian multinational socks around. Vami deals in a wide range of churidar, ankle length leggings, capri and blouses. Vami has 15 exclusive brand outlets plus the entire product line is -also available on Amazon, Flipkart, Snapdeal etc. Price Slabs Churidar – Rs. 379, Ankle Length 0 Rs. 349, Capri – Rs. 329. Blouse (Sizes – S, M, L, XL, XXL) – Introductory Price – Rs. 199 (Super wow deal). You can buy all of them on Amazon. My Experience I received one churidar in black (it has a lot of churis I tell you…), one ankle length in red (my favorite style these days) and one capri in blue(will cover up only your knees). The blouse (received in white) is made of the same fabric as of the leggings which ensures free movement of hands too. I am very impressed by the quality of the product. If you are not already aware then let me walk you through the reason behind the superb quality of the product. VAMI has collaborated with Lycra to come up with a product which is comfortable as cotton could be, stretchable to give you free movement & easy on pocket too. The basic factor that drew me towards the leggings & the blouse was the fabric itself. It is not thick as LUX leggings and does not go transparent with usual stretches & pulls as the cheap leggings go. The fabric is breathable & soft, because it is cotton after all, there are no nylons or polysters used which can feel bit harsh on skin. Have you experience a thread pull with your leggings? I think we all have. The reason is very simple, the legging may have stretchable fabric but the thread used in the stitching process, is non stretchable hence it breaks easily upon pull. VAMI has addressed this problem too. They have used a polyster feeling in the thread which makes the thread stretchable too. How cool is that? Now you can do Yoga in your leggings without fearing about thread pull. I have been going on my morning walks & doing stretching exercises wearing the black churidar & the red ankle length alternatively. They are as good as new. If you have read this post about VAMI, you must be already aware that the brand has introduced 3 styles of leggings in 100 shades & blouses in 5 sizes and 30 shades. I think getting a perfect match is not a tension any more. Regarding the fitting of the leggings, The ankle length & the capri are perfect fit, but I found the churidar a bit (just little bit) loose at the hips, nothing like extra baggy, just that it does not hug me tight, hope you know what I meant. I just like my leggings to be that way. The best thing about VAMI blouse is the fact that it is readymade. Just put it on while on move. I have worn the blouse once & it fitted well too since it is stretchable. Though the blouse may seem simple but I think it’s easy to style a blouse in different ways. I have been planning to do a video on how to style a VAMI blouse? How to pair it up with different attires? Stay tuned. I also got a discount coupon from VAMI that is redeemable at any Bonjour Group. I am planning to get few more ankle lengths for me to pair up few kurtis & tunics. Hope you get an idea of the brand and the quality of the product that it offers. Try these pieces some time soon. A Forced Photo Shoot At Kodaikanal

I am not photogenic, I admit, specially after delivery of my son, gaining few pounds here and there, my body does not fit into the camera lens anymore. Things have changed, I have become very comfortable in my shell and I don’t feel like coming out. Unless, I am to pose for photographs, where I really regret not working out from last 3 years. I have tried taking up Zumba classes at the comfort of my home, but then comfort zone really holds me back & I give up easily. I always complain about not having enough time & fitness takes a back seat. Back in Kodaikanal, I dared to pose for the camera after a long time, so that I could capture the memories to cherish them forever. The very first day my body got tanned, since I was out all day long, and wore sunscreen just on my face. Here I am presenting the best I could get for you. You are allowed to giggle :). Much Love…
