A thin strip of coloured eyeliner is able to change the complete makeup-look in a jiffy. That is why, a catchy shade of coloured eyeliner would be my first choice for those lazy days when I am not in the mood of apply ample amount of makeup. Among all the colours we generally see in coloured eyeliners, brown is the most subtle shade. If I don’t want too much attention to my eyes, I go for the brown ones. Though I am more of a pencil-liner person, you will find a few liquid liners as well. Today’s review is about one such item, the Color Pop Liner from Elle 18 in Brown. Do you want to know how it fares on me? Keep reading. About Elle 18 Color Pop Liner Eye Go Vivid Tired of being plain-Jane black? Then it’s time add drama to your eyes with the Elle 18 Color Pop Liner. Get super defined eyes in just a single fluid stroke. Price Rs.85 for 5ml. Buy here. Ingredients Not Mentioned Packaging The Color Pop liner comes in a thick and transparent glass bottle with a black plastic screw-open lid. A fine liner applicator is attached to the lid of the bulbous liner bottle. The bottle bears the name of the product and company logo whereas the lid contains a depiction of a pink haired cartoon-girl. Overall, the package is quite travel-friendly, leak-proof and trendy-looking. Perfect for the college and office going girls I must say. I don’t know why, but for majority of the affordable makeup brands, nailpaint and liquid eyeliner bottles are look-alike. Elle 18 is not an exception in this matter. I have a golden glittery nailpaint from them that looks very similar to this eye liner. Texture & Smell The formula of this coloured eyeliner is liquid. The consistency is not watery; it is denser than that. It never drips off of the brush. The texture of the liner makes it easy to apply without creating mess. This kind of formula is quite desirable to me for liquid eyeliners. Pigmentation Pigmentation is very good when it comes to this particular product from Elle 18. The exact colour shows in my eyes in one stroke itself. However, it I want to darken further I do one more coat. I never needed to go over 2 coats. Variants Black, Brown, Blue, Green, Gray. Shade- Brown The shade Brown is basically a glittery golden brown. The golden tinge to it makes it appear bronzy. This is a great shade for Indian complexions. Finish This Color Pop eyeliner gives glittery finish. The shimmer is not too over-the-top because the glitter particles are very finely dusted. You can actually use it for daytime, colleges and workplaces without any hitches to look extremely made-up. Longevity It stays put for 5-6 hours in cool weather. However, in humid summer the staying power is limited to 3-5 hours if you have oily eyelids. It is not waterproof. If you splash water over it and then rub vigorously, it comes off. If you are not sweating profusely, the product will remain smudge-proof. My Experience To be frank, I am not at all good at liquid or gel eyeliners. I am still learning to do fine lines close to my upper lash-line. Kajals, specially the retractable ones are my thing because their firm tips give far better idea to ‘how close am I’ to my lash-line. I got this eyeliner to practice my hands at liquid eyeliners. You may ask ‘why is that?’ or ‘why not any basic black liner?’ Well, the answer is, to my spectacle-d eyes it is very difficult to identify the minute mistakes I make with a golden-brown liner than any other coloured liners. Brown is closest shade to my skin tone than grey, green, blue or black. Quite a hack, isn’t it! Coming to my experience, I often use it for lining my upper lids if I am opting for minimal makeup looks or daytime looks. If I want more drama, I line my eyes with it in a very thickly and then go over it with basic black liner to draw a thin line. It takes just a minute to dry down. Then it becomes smudge proof. The main con of this product is that, it is not water proof though it claims to be. But, when you shed only 85 bucks for a glitter-eyeliner you must not regret if it’s not waterproof. I am actually happy that the colour-payoff is good. The best way to remove this eye liner is to use a cream based cleansing-milk. I first apply the cleanser over the liner and wait for 15-20 seconds before rubbing it off with a soft cotton pad. Hi. I thought the every one’s favourite gel liner need a dedicated post. Yes, I am talking about Maybelline Lasting Drama Gel Liner. If I remember correctly, I started using it back in 2011. I have used the black-silver swirl & the brown-golden swirl gel liners from Maybelline. I don’t see them around any more. Only this basic black version is still running in the race gel liners and winning it of course. This is one affordable, long lasting and highly performing gel liner. Eyeliner is easily removed with Maybelline Expert Eyes® 100% Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover. Packaging Comes in a glass pot with black screw cap. Also packaged with a very efficient liner brush. Shade Blackest Black is Jet Black. Texture & Smell The texture is creamy gel like. It glides on eye lids & water line smoothly. I never noticed any smell out of the product. My Views I can call my self a vintage fan of this liner. It’s been so many years. I never thought about looking for an alternate. I just never felt like I am bored of it. I never recognised it as my HG liner, I just never realised, until lately. Let’s see why it’s favourite of us all. The texture, is smooth, fine and creamy that it just feels like butter. There is no tugging. The pigmentation is very intense, one stroke of this liner gives nice colour pay off. Also you can apply another stroke for more intense colour. This is a quick dry formula liner. It dries off within few seconds giving out matte finish. The longevity of the liner, amazes me. It stays on my oily lids all day long without any smudges. I also like the applicator brush that it comes with. The brush yields precise lines. I can easily control the width of the line with the pointy tip of the applicator. One pot of the liner lasts very long. Every six months, I throw a half emptied pot because you are not supposed to use eye products more than that. Also winters may dry out this product little bit. I have tried many looks with this single liner. I have applied this on my eye lids as well as water line. It never irritated my eyes. Lastly the packaging is very convenient to carry around and use. I conclude my post here, agreeing to the fact that its my Holy Grail Eye Liner. Likes Creamy formula. Intense pigmentation. Quick dry formula. Yields jet black colour. The applicator brush is very efficient to achieve different lines. Stays on eyes without smudges whole day long. Multiple looks can be achieved with single liner. One unit of the product lasts very very long. Very convenient & travel friendly packaging. Never irritated my eyes even when used on water line, since it is tested Ophthalmologistically. Dermatologist tested. Allergy tested. Suitable for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers. Dislikes : None. Nil. Naddaaa! Summary : 5/5 This is one bad ass liner from Maybelline. Affordable, long lasting, pigmented & the blackest. Grab it if you haven’t yet. Good for beginners as well as the experts out there. I always repurchase it without any second thought. NELF Waterproof Gel Eye Liner Silver : Swatches & Review

NELF Waterproof Gel Liner in Silver doubles up as a creamy eye shadow. I have worn it as an eye shadow too. It stayed there on my lids beautiful with out much smudge for 3-4 hours and then I took it off. I wore it over a primer.

Cheap Thrills – The Localites

Sometimes, I go to a departmental store just to fetch some chocolates/ cookies and come back with makeup. There are so many local brands, which we don’t consider buying because they look flimsy or are suspected to be of no value. I mostly come across many local brands like Color 18, Ellewin , Kiss Beauty, ADS , 7 heavens etc. I have tried few chubby lipsticks from Ellewin and they turned out really well. Blue Heaven is another brand which has emerged into a reliable brand now. ADS also has grabbed local markets by quite a percentage. I actually got interested into these dirt cheap products since, the store lady was swatching them on some customer. I actually admired the intensity of the eyeliner & (copied) packaging of the lip gloss. ADS Liquid Eyeliner in Black Its Jet Black with glossy finish. I really liked its finish when it was swatched on some one’s hand by the store lady. I even handed my hand to her and asked for a swatch. I bought it, and the pigment was so intense that it was there on my hand until I vigorously rubbed it with makeup remover. It might replace my when-in-hurry eyeliner Incolor Dynamic Eye Liner. Got it for 100 bucks. This liner has been reviewed here. Kiss Beauty Lip Gloss It is a look alike of L’Oreal Paris Shine Caresse Lip Glosses. I mean at first sight, I really thought it was from L’Oreal until I took a close look at it’s neck. There were just so many shades, dupe for almost every shade no of L’Oreal’ lip glosses. The intensity of the color is quite nice, but is highly drying when put on lips. Got it only for 100 bucks. Blue Heaven Eye Brow Pencil Its just for 10 bucks. I used to use Lakme’s eye brow pencil when I first got my hands on makeup. This pencil reminds me of those careless days. I am not brand conscious. I buy what appeals to my eyes or ears.
