Face whitening & brightening creams sell like hot cakes in India. If someone really does the math, might really wonder, how come Indians still have olive skin tones? Because a face cream or face wash that claims to whiten skin tone cannot really alter the original shade of skin. So the skin whitening creams are a hoax? No, they are not useless. I am not against using brightening creams. From time to time I too use them depending upon my skin condition. After having a nice experience with Citra Green Tea Spot Less Face Cream, I also tried my hands on Citra Pearl Fair Face Cream. My main intention to buy the cream was to only put it for a review since I was getting a lot of hits for this face cream. I have been testing it from last 2 weeks which I think is a nice time to talk about a skin care product. Let me walk you through the review of this face cream. I shall also tell you why it’s important to use a brightening cream. The cream is light weight & non greasy but only replenishes skin of pearl goodness. It is quite affordable face cream which is economical too. You can buy it from offline stores or online shopping portals such as Amazon. Ingredients Packaging Citra Pearl Face Cream comes packaged in the signature packaging of Citra i.e. shiny white opaque tube with beautifully printed labels on it. The tube has a pump fitted at the top which is covered with a transparent plastic cap to avoid accidental pump pressing or product spillage. The packaging is quite travel friendly. I really like such creams which take no effort to sink into the skin. Fragrance of the cream is mild & nice but feels artificial. My Experience I have oily, acne prone & sensitive skin. All the hell can break loose in just one application of any skin care product which is not suitable for my skin type. I have had nice experience with the green tea version of the cream, hence picked up this pearl one. Why I need to use a brightening cream? Whitening & brightening are two different terms. Whitening is like you are trying to whiten your skin tone (which is almost impossible unless you go really harsh on your skin), while brightening in skin care refers to the polished version of your skin tone. Removing tan & dead skin from epidermis can really do the trick. Also to get rid of dark spots , is an added advantage when you use a brightening cream. My main concern is the dark spots left behind by frequent acne eruptions. Using a brightening creams is must for me. I like the texture of Citra Pearl Fair Face Cream that is almost similar to Citra Green Tea Face Cream. It is light weight and gets easily absorbed. There is no white cast to be noticed, maybe because there is no SPF as well. There is no heavy feeling or oily residue to be noticed. It feels like it’s the best matte glow & smooth finish to the skin. After one and half an hour I start to feel oily T zone. That I can still bear but it really start irking my skin. It even ignited already dead acne spots. It is like a fuel to acne bacteria. Dreadful. Likes Lightweight texture, non greasy application. Gives matte finish. Nice fragrance. Affordable, economical & easily available. Regular usage helps to even out skin tone. Attractive & travel friendly packaging. Dislikes Aggravates existing acne. Turns skin oily within 2 hours of application. Do I recommend Citra Pearl Fair Face Cream? Normal to Combination skinned beauties who do not suffer from acne eruptions would really love this face cream. Dry skinned girls will not get enough moisture out of this face cream Oily skinned girls with acne, please do not invest in this face cream. I am not going to repurchase this face cream. Citra Pearl Fair Face Cream with Korean Pink Pearl contains quite exotic ingredient. Pearl is generally associated with complexion enhancement. It does work in that field while being affordable & economical. But it is not for every one. If you do not have oily or acne prone skin, you might find it really nice & working for you to great extent. But otherwise stay away from it. Summer as well as Monsoon seasons, can be really tricky for skin.My skin needs moisture, but I do not want to slather the normal day creams, they just do not feel right. Gel creams are definitely something I look up to during summer & monsoon. Himalaya Herbals Oil Free Radiance Gel Cream is my today’s topic to discuss with you which is alcohol-free & parabene-free. It’s like the best herbal cream for oily & acne prone skin during summer. Himalaya Herbals is among such Indian brands, whose products speak. If you don’t already know, let me tell you, that I liked using Himalaya Herbals Natural Glow Day Cream during last winter, but that cream is not suitable for summer for my oily & acne prone skin as my skin does not need that much moisture now. Glad that Himalaya Herbals came up with the replacement of Natural Glow Day Cream for summer (according to me). Let me walk you through why I liked Himalaya Herbals Oil Free Radiance Gel Cream so much. Himalaya Herbals Oil Free Radiance Gel Cream Enriched with Barbary Fig & Winter Melon, smells heavenly & oil free gel based cream is an ideal day cream for oily & acne prone skin during summer. The cream is free of alcohol & parabenes. It hydrates skin while giving an oil free radiant glow to your skin. The light textured gel based cream absorbs quickly into your skin while giving 3 benefits: Oil Free Look Maintains Moisture Balance Non-Shiny Glow Barbary Fig: It contains poly-saccharides that are known to provide moisture, leaving your skin gently hydrated. Winter Melon: It exhibits anti-oxidant properties that keeps skin healthy, protected & rejuvenated. Price Rs. 250 for 50 gms. Buy here at discounted price. Ingredients Packaging The gel cream comes filled in a glass tub with a plastic mint colored lid over. The outer packaging, i.e. the card box contains all the information about the product like the ingredients, price, benefits etc. Himalaya generally packs it’s products in tube which are more travel friendly. Tub packaging is not really appreciated for hygienic reasons. Also glass tubs are bit prone to accidental breakage(don’t get me started on my shaky hands). Fragrance & Texture The fragrance of this gel cream is enchanting, it’s aquatic & flowery at the same time. I love to smell it again and again. But once I have applied the cream over my face, it goes away quickly. Texture wise, it is gel cream. The lightest texture you can have. It’s feather like light on your skin. It absorbs quickly as water drops. It is smooth enough to glide on your skin effortlessly. My Experience I am on the second tub of this cream. It took me about 1 and half month to use up the first tub. I use it daily once a day after my morning shower. I apply rose water on my face as a toner (going the nature’s way). After 2-3 minutes I dot this cream on my face & massage it going in circular motions. It instantly sinks into my skin. There is no stickiness as I would rather feel with another gel products during summer. It feels like I have applied nothing. But there is increased level of suppleness and glow in my skin. The glow is not that oily thing but is rather a very faint glow, an oil free glow. It keeps my skin matte for 3-4 hours. After 3-4 hours my T-Zone starts to get oily. I splash water on my face & then I am good to go. I have worn this cream under BB Cream & a foundation. It acted as a primer because of it’s finish. The makeup went pretty smooth. I really am going to use it until the next winter shows up. During winter I would switch back to the Natural Glow Cream from Himalaya Herbals unless my wandering eyes find something more interesting to try out. Update: I am using The Ordinary Skin Care for acne prone skin , and I have never seen such clear skin. Summary Himalaya Herbals Oil Free Radiance Gel Cream, is a parabene free, alcohol free, oil-free, day cream for oily & acne prone skin at affordable price. It is widely available & proves to be economical in long term. If you are looking for a gel based day cream, please look no where else. Hello Beauties, how are you girls? Do you use age defying creams? The creams that promise to keep your skin youthful no matter how many candles you are blowing on your cake every year? I do not follow any anti ageing skin care regimen as such, but there is one such cream that has been in my household. It’s Pond’s Age Miracle Cell ReGen Day Cream SPF 15 PA++. It is considered to be among the best anti ageing day cream. This cream is highly publicized for it’s retinol benefits. I have used it on and off over the years, but this cream has been favorite of my mother, ever since, I introduced it to her. So I chose this day cream to talk about today. This is my family’s favorite, as my sister too likes to use this cream sometimes, when she is running out of Pond’s White Beauty Day Cream. So let’s jump on to the review of this day cream with SPF from Pond’s. About Pond’s Age Miracle Cell ReGen Day Cream SPF 15 PA++ Pond’s identified 6 vital bio-actives which leads to the creation of the intelligent Pro Cell Complex™ for the Pond’s Age Miracle™ range. It allows skin cells to regenerate so fast, age simply cannot catch up. Clinically Proven. Dermatologically tested. Pond’s advises to use cleanser, serum & night cream from the same range for better results. Price Rs. 599 for 50gm. Buy here at discounted price. Ingredients Packaging The day cream pot comes in a red & silver colored card box. Pond’s logo is printed over the card box with other information about the product. Inside the card box you find a semi transparent glass pot containing the cream with a shiny red colored lid in fancy shape. As you open the lid, you find the tub mouth covered with a plastic cover to avoid any spillage. Fragrance & Texture The day cream is sweetly scented, and smells quite luxurious. I feel, all the Pond’s creams smell the same way. The texture of the cream is very fine & smooth that it glides on skin beautifully. The color of the cream is has pink tint. One pea size amount covers face perfectly. But if you want to reap the benefit of the small amount of SPF that this cream contains, I advice you to apply it twice taking pea sized amount. Since the cream contains bit of SPF, the cream might give some sweating to the skins that are prone to suffocation, like mine. My mother’s aged & normal skin, does not feel any heaviness even during summer. My Experience I am going to share here 3 experiences, with 3 different types of skins. I have oily & acne prone skin, my sister has combination skin while my mother has mature & normal-dry skin type. The cream gives matte finish while satisfying the moisturizing needs of my oily skin. The cream minimizes my pore appearance giving it a smooth & brightening effect. As long I continue using this cream it keeps my skin even toned & glowing. But as soon I apply it on my skin, I feel bit of sweating. And continuous usage, gives me few blocked pores as day creams with SPF are known to do so to my skin. My sister has combination skin, so she needs bit of moisture & matte finish. It works perfectly for her. Though I do not advice her to use this as she is in her early twenties, because this cream contains a lot of powerful ingredients such as Retinol. Still, she uses it whenever she is running out of Pond’s Beauty White. it does not break her skin neither she feels any sweating with this cream. My mother who has mature skin, loves this cream. She has been using it for so many years. It gives her skin enough moisture. It minimizes the appearance of her wrinkles while smoothing her face (temporarily). The effect of minimization of pores & wrinkles is temporary on my skin & my mother’s skin, it goes away as we discontinue using this cream. But that is true with any cosmetic product. Likes Smooth & fine texture. Brightens & tones complexion. Gives matte finish. Suits every skin type except my extremely problematic skin. Small quantity is required for each application. Smells nice. Provides bit of sun protection too, in case you are not going out. No white cast like Pond’s White Beauty Day Cream. Helps to minimize pore & wrinkle appearance. Dislikes Costly. The cream needs to be used continuously to maintain the positive results. Can give blocked pores to extremely oily & acne prone skin specially during summer. Summary : 5/5 I am giving this cream full points because it actually is a great anti ageing cream. If this cream is used continuously, it really helps to take away age spots & delay appearance of wrinkles or other ageing signs. It keeps skin young & beautiful. Though It won’t help with sagging skin as much, but yes, it helps to smooth down wrinkle & pore appearance. I wish it worked for me, too, without giving any side effects (of blocked pores). Most of the day creams break me out because they tend to contain some amount of Sun Protection Factor (SPF). I can use a sunscreen alone, it won’t break me out, but creams/makeup that contain SPF, certainly break me out. Most of the day creams give me under skin bumps and clogged pores which later result into acne. I have been testing Himalaya Natural Glow Fairness Cream from more than a month now. I got it last while i was shopping for some regular items. It was available in 25g packaging, perfect for sampling. Price Rs. 45 for 25g. Rs. 80 for 50 g, Buy here at discount. Ingredients Packaging Comes in Himalaya’s signature white and light pink tube with green cap. Travel friendly and hygienic packaging. Texture, Colour & Smell It is a smooth textured & light pink coloured cream, easily absorbs leaving matte finish behind. The smell is nice but quite artificial. I have used some product which used to smell like this, I just can’t recall it. The smell lingers on your skin for few minutes after application. My Views If I talk about the day time moisturisers/cream I use, I would say, I generally go for Clean n Clear Oil Free Moisturiser, sometimes, it is Za true white day cream or Za perfect solution youth whitening serum. Sometimes even Lacto Calamine gets lucky. The very basic reason I picked Himalaya Natural Glow Fairness Cream, is the fact that it does not contain any SPF, at least is not mentioned anywhere. My skin hardly gets away with a day cream containing SPF. Some might argue that a day cream must contain SPF, but a day cream containing SPF might clog oily skin, which generally happens with me. The texture of the cream is fine & smooth, there is no issue while applying it. It gets easily absorbed, as soon as you apply it. Not much rubbing is required. It gives absolute matte finish. Skin is instantly brightened. It does not give any white cast, but there is certainly some pinkish cast/hue on skin, which looks good since it looks natural. Ponds White Beauty Day Cream too gives pinkish glow, but that looks more like white cast. It contains Alfalfa & Saffron, which are natural ways to brighten skin. I have been using it from about a month, mostly twice a day. It claims to lighten skin tone, which didn’t stand true for my skin tone. My skin tone is same as was before using this cream. I do not expect any skin cream to lighten skin tone until it contains harsh chemicals/bleaching agents. There is little amount of brightening. Skin looks even toned. But I have not seen much improvement in my dark spots/acne spots. They seem to intensify on application of this cream, weird .. huh?. So I can say, it works as a skin brightening cream rather than a skin lightening cream. It moisturises skin, but gives matte finish, oily skin would love the feel while dry skin beauties might need to add another layer of moisture. My skin stays matte for 3-4 hours during current dry days. After that my face has little oily sheen. Sometimes, my skin looks red or irritated, may be because it contains natural stuff which might be reacting with my sensitive skin. It’s nothing major just hints of redness on my cheeks. Likes Nice texture. Gets easily absorbed. Gives matte finish. Contains goodness of Saffron and Alfalfa. Control oil for 3+ hours. Gives pinkish and natural glow rather than white cast. Brightens face instantly. No breakouts or clogged pores. Suitable for oily & combination skin. Travel friendly and hygienic packaging. Affordable & easily available. Long term usage brightening skin naturally. Free of parabenes. Dislikes I sometimes find that after wearing it for 2-3 hours, my skin is little red/irritated. It happens seldom. For some, lack of SPF might be a con. I think the smell is strong for my liking, though it does smell nice. Summary : 3.5/5 It is parabene free, very affordable, simple day cream for oily skin with the goodness of Saffron and Alfalfa. Gives nice brightening effect and keeps skin fresh for 3-4 hours. UPDATE: It’s full throttle summer now, & I do not like to use this cream over my face since it feels little heavy. It makes my skin feels sweaty. Normal- Dry skinned people would love this cream during summer. Also my skin has got habitual to this cream now, hence my skin does not get irritated now. Today, I am going to write about Olay Total Effects day cream. I was always hesitant to use it. Was afraid this would be a heavy cream. This does not feel heavy at all, but it still disappointed me. The smell is powdery and very mild. My Skin Type Oily, Acne Prone & Sensitive My Views I got this during last summer, in the smallest packaging available. This cream has been advised to me by many beauticians also. So one fine day I got it. Initially I was impressed by the texture and almost non existent smell. The texture of the cream is very smooth and lightweight. It spreads nicely on skin & gets absorbed very quickly.Leaving little sheen on the skin. There is no oily residue to bother afterwords. It moisturises skin very well. One application in the morning keeps skin moisturised for all day long, given that I already have oily skin. But I think since the texture of the cream is creamy, even normal-dry skinned beauties will be happy with the moisturisation it provides. Since it was summers and my skin is already oily, I had some oil issues after wearing this for about an hour or so, nothing major. It contains SPF 15, but there is no white cast post application. SPF 15 is alright if you stay indoors, but if you have to step out of your house, you need to put a separate sunscreen. I used it for about a week happily, and then I realised I have so many blocked pores which later resulted in to pimples. The day creams that contain SPF, break me out always, so did this. It was such a disappointment. I had the same side effects after using the very famous La Roche Posay Lotion. And there, I stopped using this Olay Day Cream. Likes I like the texture of this cream. It does not feel heavy but still gives nice moisturisation. Like that the smell is almost non existent. Formulated to delay 7 signs of ageing like fine lines, dullness, dry patches, age spots, uneven texture, enlarged pores etc. Contains SPF 15. Gives no white cast. Good for Normal to dry skin. Comes with a pump. Travel friendly packaging. Dislikes Since it broke me out, all the positive things does not matter. I could not get a chance to judge it’s anti ageing effects since I could not wear it for long. Summary : 3/5 It is a great product for Normal- Dry skin beauties. Even combination skin can be benefited with the anti ageing effects of this cream. The texture and quick absorbing formula without greasy feeling make it a great day cream. Nothing has been mentioned on the cream, if, it is specially meant for oily/ combination skin, but the matte finish that it gives makes me feel it is formulated for oily to combination skin. It is little heavy cream for my taste, but it performs very well to deliver even tone and visibly clear skin. I take pea-size cream to cover my face and neck. Little rubbing and it gets absorbed into the skin. It leaves behind matte finish which is the desired result an oily skinned girl would look for into a day cream. It evens out skin tone to some extent. Maybe because the colour of the cream is light pink, it leaves little pinkish tone behind. During summers the cream feels heavy for my oily skin, and it makes me sweat, but winters make it more comfortable to wear it. It has got SPF 15 with protection from ultra violet rays. It is not sufficient though, you must wear a separate sunscreen. Since it has SPF content, it leaves little white cast, and that gives an illusion of having a clear skin. Though continuous usage of this cream works on dark spots, but does not erase dark spots completely. When I wear it regularly for few days, I get some blocked pores, which is really heartbreaking. But my sister who has normal to combination, never breaks out by using this. Likes: Evens out skin tone. Gives little pinkish tone to skin. Has got SPF15 with protection from Ultra-violet rays. Works on dark spots to some extent. It removes tanning with continuous usage. Dislikes: Pricey for the quantity provided. Gives little white cast. Gives bumps to oily skin. Little heavy during summers. Makes skin sweaty. Unhygienic packaging. Summary: 3.5/5 Good for dry-normal skin, but little heavy for oily skin. De-tans skin with regular use. Hi, I am going to write about the white girl in town, Za True White Day Cream. Za is from the house of Shiseido Japan which is an old and reputed brand in skincare and makeup. This particular line also comprises of an emulsion and night cream which I quite liked. It is another cream claiming to whiten the skin. But today’s woman of Internet era is not so ignorant. We all know skin color can’t be changed (read as whiten) unless we go through some surgical procedures or harsh chemical routine. Then why do we buy such creams labelled as ‘whitening’. We just wish to get rid of the un-even skin tone or age spots or dark spots due to zits. That’s all we want from a whitening cream to give us an even toned glowing skin. Highlights of ZA True White Day Cream SPF 20 PA++ Whitening Effect with 4MSK Vitamin C SPF ingredients White Lily Extract Price This is a costly affair as it sells at Rs. 999 for 40 grams. Packaging It comes in a transparent cover which provides all the product information like how to use, main ingredients, price, weight etc. I lost its outer cover so I don’t have its pictures. The cream comes in a white plastic jar with a pretty shape. The jar is quite sturdy and leak proof. Texture, Colour & Smell The color of the cream is milky white. The texture of the cream is velvety soft. It is lightweight and hence absorbs pretty fast. I am in love and hate relationship with the smell of this cream. When I first apply the cream it smells like alcohol. But after few seconds there comes a mild floral smell which I adore. My Experience with ZA True White Day Cream I bought this cream especially because everyone was raving about it. Also it claims to have vitamin C which is a superb ingredient for a skin care product. My skin concern is mainly the dark spots that I get due to the occasional zits. The cream also has SPF 20 in it hence no need for a separate sunscreen unless you are going out in the sun. I used this cream for about four weeks regularly after my bath in the morning. It absorbs really fast and gives little sheen to the skin initially, but if you touch your face, it feels matte. Wow. Also it does not make my skin greasy after few hours as other matte creams I have tried. With regular use it evens out the skin tone which is quite desirable. Coming to the dark spots, I don’t find remarkable difference. The spots are still there just little bit lighter. Guess spot correcting needs more time. This cream provides the right amount of hydration to my oily skin. I don’t need another moisturiser. Oh yes, the product has some downfall too. The cream is matte and non greasy but it makes me sweat during summers. Oh God, why? I thought I found the perfect day cream but I guess, I will have to wait. So my hunt for an I-won’t-make-your-face-sweaty day cream starts again…phew!! Likes Lightweight and non greasy yet hydrating. No acne breakout or skin allergy. Nice floral smell (hope the top note of alcohol are just with my piece). Sturdy packaging hence travel friendly. Has the goodness of vitamin C which helps in skincare brightening. Has SPF 20 which is sufficient for indoor stay. Gives nice glow to the skin. Brightens and evens out skin tone with regular use. Suitable for all skin types. Dislikes Price of-course. Though it will last about 2 months, I find the price little bit on higher side My face sweats after wearing this cream. A big turn off. Summary : 4/5 This is a nice day cream if face sweating is ignored which is hard and I hope it’s just my skin. Also one needs to be regular with this cream to maintain the effects.
