Hello Dolls, It’s been a while that I reviewed a makeup product and for that matter, a lipstick specifically. I chose Ruby’s Organics Lipstick – Burgundy 016 for today’s review. I received this lipstick in my previous #MyEnvyBox, I almost forgot about it & other products from the box. Delaying no more, let’s hop onto the review wagon. About Ruby’s Organics Lipstick Burgundy Ruby’s Organics is a new brand, suggests to use the lipstick once for subtle & twice for a bolder look. The lipstick carries the benefits of a lip balm while looks like an intense lip color. The lipstick contains Mango & Shea Butter, Almond & Castor Oil. The lipstick is 100% vegetarian, contains no parabenes, artificial colors, alcohols & chemical preservatives. The brand does not believe in testing on animals. Price Rs. 990 for 3.7g. Ingredients Packaging The lipstick comes packed inside a black matte long & chubby cardbox with graphics of multi colored flowers printed over it. Ingredients list is also printed on the pack. Inside you find a chubby retractable black shiny pencil with a transparent cover at the top. Ruby’s Organics is printed on the pencil in fancy font while “Lipstick Burgandy” is printed at the bottom of the chubby pencil. Shades Available Ruby’s Organics has come up only with 5 shades in the range – Apricot, Raisin, Roseate, Brick & Burgundy. Shade – Burgundy 016 This is a very deep burgundy shade. A fabulous one. All the burgundy lovers are in for a treat with this shade. Though with flash on, the shade looks more of deep pink. Texture & Smell It is a moisturizing lipstick. It really hydrates lips. I find the texture comparable to that of the SUGAR Crayon lipsticks. It looks matte on lips. If you watch closely, you might find some sheen to the lips due to the presence of moisturizing agents in the lipstick. I do not need to wear a lipstick underneath. It has mild and pleasant smell. Pigmentation The pigmentation of the lipstick is intense, so intense that it feels like it might stain my lips forever. One swipe gives very nice color pay off. But the texture of the lipstick is buttery smooth and I feel like gliding on my lips over and over… and over. Have you ever experienced this pleasure? I do this with my favorite lipsticks very often. Longevity Ruby’s Organics gives me no reason to complain except the price. The longevity of the lipsticks is very awesome like it’s pigmentation. It transfers to the objects that touch my lips but the color stays put. The foremost layer goes away within first 2 hours, but lips stays colored for more 5-6 hours. The lipstick wears off leaving a deep red stain on my lips. Summary : 4/5 Except the price factor, I just love this range from Ruby’ Organics. The pigmentation & longevity leaves me in awe. Himalaya Kesar Face Wash VS Himalaya Clear Complexion Whitening Face Wash

Enough of drying & acne fighting face washes. Sometimes, even oily skin needs gentle cleansing action. I am going to talk about 2 face washes from Himalaya, which are creamy, & suitable for all skin types. The face washes give a glowing complexion with the natural ingredients that they contain. I am talking about, Himalaya Kesar Face Wash & Himalaya Clear Complexion Face Wash. In my stash, you will either find Kesar face wash or the clear complexion face wash. Because, Acne face washes can bring dullness to skin with continuous usage. I do not use acne washes every time I wash my face. I try to give my skin little boost of moisture with creamy face washes. They really revive my skin. I really admire these two face washes from Himalaya for their effectiveness. I have been using it for more than 2-3 years now. I have written about the Kesar face wash here, too. Himalaya Kesar Face Wash – Instant Glow I admire Himalaya for formulating its products with natural ingredients as much as possible. This Kesar face wash mainly contains Kesar & Mint. The face wash is soap free. The face wash gives clearer & brighter skin complexion with every use. The face wash is creamy in texture & hence does not lather much. To me, not lathering much, is not a big issue for me. The face wash feels very nice & minty cool while applied on to the skin. The minty fresh smell & cooling sensation makes me believe that I am using fresh mint on my face. Coming to the after effects, the face wash helps to give glowing skin by keeping tan at bay. I love the fact that it does not leave my skin dry after using it which makes it idea for every skin type. Priced at 120 for 100ml & Rs. 150 for 150ml, I feel this is very affordable for the amazing results it provides. You can buy it here. Himalaya Clear Complexion Whitening Face Wash This is another creamy face wash from Himalaya which is menat to be used for all skin types becasuse of it’s consistency & ingredients. This face wash also contains Saffron (kaser) in ot’s main ingredients. But in addition to Safforn, the face wash also contains Licorice & White Dammer to fade away dark spots since it is a whitening face wash. Pomegranate present in the face wash moisturizes skin while Cucumber soothes down skin. It is advised to be used evening and night to maintain healthy glowing complexion. The texture of the face wash is creamy almost same as the Kesar Fash wash, just little more runny. It also does not lather much. It has a very mild, sweet & pleasant smell different from the Kesar face wash. It is also easy to wash it off, does not require much water. Coming to the after effects of the face wash, the face wash does help in keeping complexion nice & glowing, but it leaves skin little stretchy. I just cannot skip moisturizer. The face wash is priced very reasonably though. It is priced at Rs. 130 for 100ml. Buy here. Which One Do I Prefer? I always prefer Himalaya Kesar Face Wash in place of Himalaya Clear Complexion Whitening Face Wash due to the fact that, the Kesar face wash does not leave my skin stretchy while the other one is not that good at moisturizing. There is not much difference in the quality & the performance of the face washes, since the active ingredients are almost the same. But there is always a preference among the same two, isn’t it? The Face Shop Real Nature Green Tea Sheet Mask : Review

The Face Shop is very popular among beauties for it’s Korea origin. Korean skin care ranges are popular for their unique ingredients. The Face Shop brings Korean skin care to India at very affordable price. The Green Tea mask from TFS was lying from a long time in my stash. Finally I used it yesterday since I was supposed to attend an event. Last weekend I was out in the sun a lot & their was bit of tanning on my face. I wanted to test out the efficacy of this Green Tea Mask, & hence used it while expecting a tan free face. Read on to know about my experience. Price The face masks from The Face Shop are priced between 120-100. I bought it from Amazon, for 80 bucks few weeks back. Buy here. Ingredients Packaging It is a sheet mask made up of a thin fabric dipped in skin serum. The sheet mask has holes cut in for eyes, nose & lips, but I think they are not really proportionate to Indian bone structure. The sheet mask is packaged folded inside a very attractive sachet showing Green Tea leaves in a plate. How I Used It? Before using a sheet mask/face pack I make sure to scrub my face. Before using this face pack too, I scrubbed my face. Applied rose water as toner (as instructed on the pack to use a toner). The sheet mask is quite thin & dipped in the skin serum. I make sure to take out the sheet mask carefully so that the serum does not drip off the mask. I unfold the sheet mask and try to adjust the holes onto my features. I kept it on my face for half an hour, after which I felt the serum was almost absorbed into my skin. I took the sheet mask off my face after 30 minutes, & massaged the left over skin serum onto my face & neck. Left it to dry without washing my face. There was bit of stickiness until the serum got absorbed totally. Efficacy I was thrilled to see a natural glow on my face without any trace of tan. Yes, my face was completely tan free. I washed my face after few hours with plain water without using a face wash. Went ahead with a moisturizer & party makeup. The evening went bright & beautiful 🙂 Likes Korean skin care at affordable price. Very effective in giving glowing skin with even single use. Removes tan in single use. Easy to carry & use. No burning sensation or irritation noticed. Smells mild & pleasant. Dislikes The sheet mask is not a good fit for Indian facial features. I have used many sheet masks from TFS, and all of them were misfit for my round face. Summary: 5/5 I have used many sheet masks from The Face Shop, and all of them worked really well on my skin. This Green Tea Mask is no exception. It gives clear & glowing skin in no time. The sheet mask is affordable & easy to use too. I am sure you guys must have used a lot of sheet masks from TFS. My Experience With Aroma Magic Neem & Tea Tree Face Wash Acne control/oil control face washes are generally drying in nature. They dry out skin so much that skin produces more oil as a result. Which totally beats the benefits of using an oil control face wash. Aroma Magic Neem & Tea Tree Face Wash, is a non drying face wash. It does not dry out my skin even a bit. I do not feel any stretchy feeling after washing my face with this face wash. I think Rose Extracts moisturizes skin while Neem & Tea Tree Oil cleanses it. This is my second bottle of this face wash. Since summers knocked on our doors early this year, my skin was producing a lot of oil and would feel sticky after 2 hours of through cleansing. But this face wash is proving to be very effective. My skin feels normal & balanced, no dryness, no oiliness. My skin is behaving like a good girl. As a result my face is spots free too. My Experience of Making Lipstick in Cosmetic Pharma Lab

Guest Post By Nisha Singh Hey angels, how are you doing? I am writing this article after a long time. Today I am so exciting to share my experience of making lipstick in my pharma laboratory. I am a B pharma student and last week I did this practical of making lipstick in cosmetic pharma lab (I love it the most ;)) and it was amazing to make a lipstick as I am a big fan of these cute, sexy colored sticks. In this article I will tell about the major steps I have done in manufacturing of lipsticks at my lab, its basic ingredients, difference in between the formulation of its different type and also about how it is molded in that cool shape which is easy to handle. Before that let me tell you that this coloring stick is not as new as we think. It has been used from the rise of civilization, yes you are reading right our ancestors beauties are using this from about 5000 years, from ancients Mayans to Egyptian, from Sumerian to our very own Indus valley women used to color their lips by various means. Now let’s be on the track and find out how these sticks are made nowadays. Manufacturing Process Lipstick manufacturing involves three major steps The preparation of viscous base Giving it the color (it was lovely) Molding the blend into lipstick Basic Ingredients Solid waxy base (helps to keep the shape and provide the solidity to the stick). Soft waxes or emollients (for the shiny finish and also provide moisture to it so that it don’t dry the lips). Colorants– dyes, pigments and pearlescent agents (for color purpose, may be organic but mostly artificial colors are used). Dyestuff solvents (they help to disperse the color into the wax). Perfumes (you know about it… yes for the pleasant smell that sometimes make us to eat it.. ha ha but Beauties it’s not good for health to eat the lipstick, so take care). Process In order to make the lipstick I first melt the waxes (bee wax specially) in a water bath and then added the other ingredients like Ozokerite (a wax that occurs naturally), Hydrogenated castor and coconut oil, Cetyl ricinoleate, Glyceryl abietate (fatty acids) and antioxidant. Then the paste of the pigments and a part of castor oil made and grinded it three times on a three roll mill (a machine having three horizontal rolls used to mix and disperse the materials). The pigment paste is added to wax and mixed well. Now, the solution was cooled to 60 degree Celsius and perfumed it. Then the whole solution was poured into clean and pre lubricated moulds (an instrument that give the shape to lipstick). After cooling, it was unmolded and the cute purple stick is out (yes I made it purple by using purple dye), in industries after this process these sticks are packaged in their roll out thing for easy use. Different Formulation The above process and ingredients (mainly the solid wax) are used for the lipsticks used in hot countries so that they don’t flow out of lips. Matte lipsticks have silica (filling agent) but they do not have so many emollients. Crème lipsticks have more waxes in spite of oils while Sheer one have more oil, Long lasting lipsticks have silicone oil in them, which impresses the colors to lips. Shimmery lipsticks contain silica, mica and synthetic pearl particles (which give them the glittery shine). Glossy lipstick contains more fatty acids like oleyl accohol and lanolin oil which provide pigment dispersion and spread-ability hence, give a shiny finish to the lips. Addition of antioxidants, UV filters and preservatives is necessary as it helps in increasing the shelf life of lipsticks. So, this is all about my experience in the cosmetic lab of making lipstick. I am going to review Lakme Enrich Matte Lipstick for you. This budget friendly lipstick has been around from a while & has comparable performance to Maybelline ColorShow Matte range. It has almost the same formula & pigmentation as that of the colorshow range from Maybelline. Let’s get to know this beauty more closely. About Lakme Enrich Matte Lipstick Say hello to creamy yet matte lipsticks from Lakme. The gorgeous shades are here to treat you with love. Lakme came up with matte colors that will suit Indian skin tones. The color is intense yet moisturizing on lips. Fluent the fabulous matte lips. Price Rs. 295 for 4.7gm. Buy here at discounted price. Ingredients No ingredients mentioned. Packaging The lipstick comes packaged in a silver colored metallic card box with Lakme Enrish Matte Lipstick printed on one side. On the other side, Lakme states what is so special about this lipstick. Ingredients list is not provided anywhere. The lipstick bullet too comes in a silver colored body with transparent cap on the bullet. At the bottom of the lipstick shade number is printed. The shade does not have any name which makes it difficult to remember a particular lipstick just by it’s shade no. One weird thing about the packaging is that, it takes a lot of effort to screw-in & screw-out the lipstick out of it’s shell. I mean it’s not that easy like other lipsticks. You really need to put in some effort. May be it’s just this lipstick. Taste, Texture & Smell The texture of this lipstick is creamy smooth. There is bit sheen to the texture. When I apply the lipstick to my lips, the sheen can be noticed on my lips too. Glides easily on lips due to creamy texture. The lipstick does not dry out my lips. The lipstick has the very peculiar old cosmetic smell which we used to have in cheap lipsticks many many years back. I did not like this utterly sweet smell. The lipstick also tastes soapy until, it is wiped off your lips entirely. Shade – RM 13 This is a shade from the Red Color Family. It is a nice bright red, which will suit all skin tones, be it light, medium or dusky. This year 2017, is particularly a year of bold shades as opposed to the previous year where the nude shades rocked the fashion world. This shade is very desirable. The lipstick looks more of maroon, but the shade goes quite red on lips. If I blot and re apply the shade, I can achieve a rust shade out of this lippie. Pigmentation The pigmentation of this lipstick is very good. One swipe gives beautiful intense color while another swipe just perfects the look. The pigmentation is intense because it is a bright shade. Such shades are relatively more pigmentation than the light shades. Finish It is a matte lipstick but do not expect an entirely matte finish out of it. It has bit sheen to it. The sheen is visible on lips too after application. It’s just the creamy texture that hinders the exact matte finish. What I do is, I bot away the sheen with a napkin. That’s how I get the desired matte lips out of this moisturizing lipstick. My Most Favorite Matte Lipstick? – SUGAR Cosmetics Matte AS Hell Longevity This lipstick stays on lips. The sheen is lost after an hour or so, if I do not blot it by myself. The color stays intact for more than 4 -5 hours surviving meals in between. The tint would not go away even after 4-5 hours, until I wipe it off. I wipe it off after 4-5 hours, since, it starts to get little patchy which is not that pleasant to look at. I really admire the staying power of this lipstick. Summary : 4/5 Except the taste & smell, I think the lipstick is quite a grab for the price you pay. It’s moisturizing, pigmented & stays for long on lips. The shades offered by Lakme are very good too. It’s among the best budget buy, if you ask me. I am looking forward to buy the newly launched Argan Oil lipsticks from Lakme, just not able to decide on the shades. Any help? Love.

You know what I found in my stash hidden deep at the back? Fabindia Clove Acne Control Cream. Don’t remember when I lost it. This is one of my most loved product from Fabindia. It works like a charm every single time. Clove is actually great in healing acne. I am always in look out for clove oil based products. Fabindia Clove Acne Control Cream is the best of them. Lately I have been feeling that faceclin gel has kind of given up on me, after all it’s a topical form of antibiotic. So I am back to using more herbal acne control products. Fabindia is an old flame in that department. Let’s talk about it in detail. About Fabindia Clove Acne Control Cream This is a clove oil based cream with traces of tea tree oil, such an amazing formulation. It’s texture is like a whipped cream hence goes very light on skin and is suitable for all type of skins. The cream is best advised to be used on oily and acne prone skin. This cream not only works on acne but improves skin texture too. Price Rs. 190 for 50ml. Most of the times it is out of stock online as well as offline. Ingredients Packaging It comes in a tub packaging. The tub is off white colored transparent plastic tub with light & dark green detailing on it. The packaging contains all the information about the product. Tub packaging is mostly unhygienic unless you use a spoon or spatula to scoop out the product. Earlier, I have felt the packaging was not sturdy enough but Fabindia seems to have the quality of the tub. It won’t break off easily. Great News : I found a Face Wash that controls Acne permanently 🙂 Color, Texture & Smell It is an off white colored whipped cream And I mean it’s totally whipped. I feel like am applying some thing watery on my face. There is no stickiness or oiliness in the texture. It goes smoothly on my skin. Since it stings due to the presence of clove oil and tea tree oil, I only spot treat my blemishes with this. It smells mostly of Clove Oil only. The smell is kind of pleasant and not pungent entirely. My Experience I have been using it for more than 5-6 years now- on and off. I would use it regularly and after my skin returns to normal, I toss it somewhere in my stash. Since last year I was using Faceclin Gel, which was working without giving a burning sensation to skin. But these days, faceclin is behaving nasty and hardly able to treat my hormonal breakouts. I have been using Fabindia acne control cream from last week again. And it is showing it’s magic on my hormonal & very recent breakout. Fabindia advises to use it twice daily as a skin cream, but it gives burning sensation to my skin even after using it for so many years, hence I use it on my spots only. It vanishes zits in a day or two, and fades scars too, if used early to treat the zits. I also feel it helps to get a better skin texture, with continuous usage in terms of minimized pore appearance. There is no stickiness or oily residue. The whipped cream texture gives matte finish to the skin. The only downside of using this cream is the stinging part, which also gives my skin some redness. The redness subsidies with in an hour or so. That’s why I use it only during night. Likes Contains Clove Oil & Tea Tree Oil, Helps to control acne if used regularly. Fades scars to great extent. Gives smooth textured skin. Nice cooling smell. Affordable. Dislikes Stings like hell. Even after using it for more than 5 years, my skin feels the same sting. Most of the times, it is out of stock, weather I try online or offline. Summary : 4.5 In terms of effectiveness, I would give it a 5. It works like a charm every single time. It contains Clove Oil & Tea Tree Oil as it’s main ingredients which are highly effective in treating acne. The cream also improves skin texture with continuous usage while fading scars. The cream is very affordable & economical. Only if you could only bear the sting…. I really regret sometimes, my habit of hoarding & forgetting stuff.
