St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub : Review

Today I am going to share my views on St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub. This is a new addition to my stash. I am a bit experimental when it comes to skin and hair care items. But I don’t believe in ‘trial-and-error’s when it comes to exfoliate my skin. Perhaps I am scared of the actions or reactions gritty scrubs may give to my skin if my choice goes wrong. So, I normally buy a big tube of my all time favorite Lotus Herbals scrub that lasts for eternity. I was getting extremely bored of it. So, I zeroed on to this St. Ives product when I saw it on 30% discount on Amazon. Now, after using for more than a month I can clearly see why it is the first choice of so many people around the globe. You will have to keep reading to know more.

How frequently should you use a scrub? How to use St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub?

I am someone, who kind of loves the very action of scrubbing. I have had been quite addictive to physical scrubs in the past. But overdo always hurt.

I use St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub, no more than twice every week. That’s the limit to exfoliate your skin physically. You need to give your skin some time to regenerate too. Scrubbing your skin twice a week, is actually a nice skin care routine.

To use the scrub, I make sure, it’s been cleansed with a face wash/ cleanser before. On my moist face, I apply pea sized dots of this scrub and massage it gently for about 30-40 seconds. Scrubbing your skin for more than a minute can actually leave minute tears on skin. So never over exfoliate your skin.

Tip: If you have oily and acne prone skin, and don’t rely on physical scrubs to clean your pores. Use a chemical exfoliator.

Packaging

This best-selling scrub comes in a white plastic tube with flip-open cap. The cap is translucent and matte. The opening of the cap is big enough to dispense the product without much squeezing. I have never had any spillage problems because of its sturdy packaging. On the front side of the tube there is an alluring label graphics which looks fun. On the backside, all the useful details about this product are mentioned. There is a scrubbing factor meter to show the exfoliating strength of this product. Overall the packaging is simple yet elegant.

Color, Texture & Smell

This scrub is off-white in color. The exfoliation particles are brownish yellow-ochre.

The texture of this cream-based exfoliator is very smooth. The scrubbing granules are of medium grittiness. From the swatch, you will be able to see the grains pretty fairly. This product is very easy to wash off from skin. It does not leave creamy residue behind.

This product has mild floral scent. If you have a sensitive nose towards smells, you will notice a subtle hint of apricot fragrance in it. The smell is not overpowering or long-lasting. I can only sniff a faintest hint of the fragrance after 1 hour or so.

My experience With St. Ives Fresh Skin Apricot Scrub

I am applying this face scrub twice a week. I like to wash my face with a suitable cleanser before. As the particles are of almost similar in size, they do not scratch the skin unless extreme pressure is applied. If the product is spread on very wet skin and kept untouched for 1-2 minutes, the scrubbing granules become softer.

Apricot based exfoliators are not new in the market. Even my previous facial exfoliator was an apricot based product. This one feels less harsh on my skin because it does not have uneven sized granules. The formula suits my skin condition that is why it is showing good results on my combination to oily skin. It gives me fresh skin, soothes my senses through its fragrance and gives me a healthy glow. It has taken care of the blackheads on my nose without causing any redness. I have not noticed new acne breakouts due to this cream based scrub.
