How To Prepare Fermented Rice Water For Hair & Skin?
I use fermented rice water form y hair and skin. And it’s way too easy to prepare it. Instead of boiling rice, I let them soak in water for a day.
You just need two ingredients and 24 hours. Depending upon your hair length and usage, you need to figure out how much rice water you want to prepare in one go.
Soak a handful of rice in 2 cups of distilled water. Let it sit for at least 24 hours before use. 24 hours is the maximum time to let the rice ferment. I happen to use rice water along with the soaked rice also. So there is no wastage.

The Fermented Rice Water Smells Bad? Is This Normal?
It is absolutely normal for the fermented rice water to smell a little bad. I add a few drops of Lavender oil/ Tea Tree oil and the bad smell goes away. Essential oils have their own beauty benefits, so adding a few drops of your favorite EO will be an added advantage.
Adding essential oil to rice water is absolutely optional.
Pick an essential oil based on your skin/hair type.
Essential oils have their own beauty and health benefits, so you can leverage those benefits by adding a few drops to your solution. So it is essential to pick your EO on the basis of your scalp/skin condition. Lavender Oil works for hair and skin, so does Tea Tree oil. Apart from these oils, you can choose from Citronella, Peppermint Oil, Rosehip Oil, Lemon Oil, etc.
What to do with the leftover soaked rice? Can you eat them?
It is not a good idea to eat the soaked rice. You can either prepare a hair mask or body scrub out of those leftover already soaked rice. Scroll Up. I have already discussed the process in detail.
What short term and long term results can you expect?
On My Skin: After using rice water, my skin feels matte and tight. After using it as a toner for 2-3 days, I realized a few old blackheads had dropped (literally, came out of my skin by itself and dropped). So for oily skin, it is a boon.
On My Hair: If I use it as a final rinse for my hair, my hair looks more healthy, shine-y, and more manageable. That’s an immediate effect.
Within a week, I would not say I noticed any remarkable difference in my hair length. I think to see hair growth one must wait at least a week.
What I noticed after using Rice Water For My Skin & Hair
The Rice water benefits for hair and skin are definitely quite obvious for me in the long term also.
I have noticed my hair fall stopped. The rice water made my hair grow faster, not crazy faster, but yeah there was a nice growth within a month. I feel they are about 2 inches longer within a month. I wish I had taken a photograph before. But now I am keeping track, so I will update you soon.
It did not change my hair texture, nether it made them straighter, but it improved hair health for sure. I can say the same about my skin. The rice water does help you with pores, keeping them clean and skin taut.
Can I leave rice water in my hair overnight?
I do. I leave rice water in my hair overnight for optimum results. The very first time, I started using rice water, I applied it on my scalp and sprayed on my hair and slept continuously for one week. My hair started feeling drier.
It was all protein build up. Now I do it twice to thrice a week, and my hair feel better.
Why did Hair feel Brittle After Rice Water Treatment?
It means you are using it the wrong way. Rice Water is loaded with protein. Excess rice water treatment could coat your hair with protein and make the feel rough and brittle.
In case you have dry hair and scalp. Use it once or twice a week at max. Use a deep conditioning mask along with the treatment.
Also, do not ferment rice for more than 24 hours and use the water straight away. I would not recommend storing it in the refrigerator and use it for weeks. Every time you must use rice water rinse, prepare it fresh.
Any Side Effects Of Rice Water Treatment?
Sometimes, your hair might feel bit brittle, it means they need a break from the rice water treatment. Also if you have dry hair type, I would advise keeping them moisturized to prevent them
Rice Water is loaded with Vitamin B, E, and minerals which are highly beneficial for hair ans skin. Home made fermented rice water is the best. It is cheap, 100%, organic, natural and effective. It keeps skin taut, bright and healthy. Rice water boosts hair growth and regrowth many folds. Hair becomes stringer and shinier with every use. Just prepare and use it the right way.
Do try this rice water treatment for your hair and skin. You will be amazed by the results. IF you have already tried this magical potion, do let me know.
