Maybelline Fit Me Blush Medium Coral : Swatches & Review

The Fit Me range that Maybelline introduced last year also contained blushes. So, I picked Maybelline Fit Me Blush- Medium Coral today to talk about. I have also got a hold on to Maybelline Cheeky Glow Coral Blush so I will be comparing the performance of Fit Me Blush with that of the Cheeky Blush since the later was a quite decent product.

I hardly use a blush. I use one only when I am going for a high coverage foundation which leaves me with a flat face. A blush and contouring really help in that case. I really admire Makeup Revolution Vivid Blush and wear this most of the time. Maybelline is an affordable brand and comes up with a new product range every now and then. So when the Fit Me range was released, I was sure to grab a blush too.

Packaging

The Fit Me Blush comes in a 2 compartment black case and a transparent lid attached on the left side, opening from the right side. One compartment contains a beautiful peachy coloured pigment pan while the other compartment holds a brush to apply the colour on cheeks. The packaging lacks a mirror though.

At the back of the compartment ingredients and other information about the product have been printed. The packaging looks okay but I have my doubts about the flimsy transparent lid. I fear it might break if I dropped the blush accidentally.

The brush provided with the packaging is not as harsh as used to come with the stone age blushes from Maybelline. I do not use it since it’s really small to hold.

Texture & Smell

The blush is powder-based and is really smooth to take out with brush or finger and apply on cheeks. It blends easily due to its a smooth texture. The blush is not much pigmented, so I can build it in layers.

This blush does not have any scent. I am relieved. I really wonder why cosmetic companies put extra fragrance to powder blushes. I remember using Lakme’s blushes, and they smelled so heavily.

Variants

Maybelline introduced 3 categories Light, Medium & Deep, and further subcategories Nude, Coral & Pink/Mauve for Fit Me Blush.

Shade – Medium Coral

I assumed this shade to be a mix of orange and pink, a very flattering mix. But this blush is more of peachy tones and only looks coral in the packaging. It goes peachy on my wheatish skin tone, I really wonder why.

When I compare the Fit me blush with Cheeky Glow Coral Blush, there is a lot of difference in the shades. Cheeky Glow is more on pink undertones and really good on pigmentation, at least better than the Fit Me blush. The Fit Me blush also contains little shimmer.

In the picture above you will notice that even with multiple layers the blush gives more of a highlighting effect.

Pigmentation

I am really disappointed with the colour intensity that this blush gives. The blush is really sheer. Since it’s more of Peach than Coral it does not show on my wheatish skin until I put multiple layers which totally kills the fun. Maybelline Cheeky Blush in Coral is way better when it comes to pigmentation maybe because it really is coral.

I also tested the blush on my aunt with a fair skin tone and a friend who has a deep skin tone, it did not show on anyone. There were only subtle hints of colour and sheen.

Finish

First I have to really struggle to make it show on my skin. Somehow I manage, then, the finish is more of shimmery than matte or powdery despite the blush being a powder blush. The final finish is very sheer and it feels like I am wearing a highlighter than a blush. Peach colour does not show much on my skin. I somehow like the peach glow on my cheeks because it looks quite natural. I can wear it during day time.

How Long Does The Blush Stay On My Oily Skin?

Since the pigmentation is low and the colour is light, the longevity of this blush is not that impressive. It stays on my oily skin for about 2-3 hours at max before disappearing altogether given that I wear a primer beneath.

Summary

Maybelline has always provided decent products but this time it is a dud to me. The blush is so low on pigmentation that it won’t show much on the skin. Also, the shade name is little misguiding. I would not recommend buying it until you want to have a peachy shimmery cheek for 2-3 hours.
