For every makeup enthusiast an appropriate makeup cleanser should have similar importance as the makeup products and makeup tools. If the skin is not cleansed properly after each and every makeup application, it degrades the skin very much. Residues of makeup products clog the skin pores making the sebum to get accumulated. This causes small zits to big bumps of acne and many other skin infections. Often shedding of eyelashes and eyebrows are seen in people who do not clear off the eye makeup. The best way to remove every bit of makeup is to double cleanse the skin; first with a cream based cleanser and then with a suitable face wash. Indian market is now-a-days flooded with makeup cleansing creams, lotions, balms, micellar waters and many other means. Out of all these cleansing milks or lotion based cleansers are the oldest and are the least expensive ways too. Today I will be comparing three very popular and widely available cleansing milks; Lotus Herbals Lemonpure, Himalaya Refreshing Cleansing Milk and Lakme Cleansing milk. Read on to know if these three products worth the fame.
Lotus Herbals Lemonpure Turmeric & Lemon Cleansing Milk
I first used this cleansing milk in one of Lotus Herbal’s home facial kit and quite liked the texture, smell and feel of it. So, finally I went ahead to buy the full size. This cleansing milk has distinct lemony aroma which feels quite fresh and it removes the makeup completely. It is the thickest cleansing milk out of the three in comparison so it needs a bit more for full face of makeup. Other than that it is the most expensive one too. But the impressive ingredient list makes me say it’s worth it.
- Herbal formulation; enriched with astringent properties of Lemon and anti-microbial benefits of Turmeric
- It is priced at Rs.245 for 80ml and Rs.325 for 170ml
- Thick cream based cleansing lotion works as a deep cleanser for all types of skin but oily to acne prone skin needs an oil-controlling facial wash afterwards
- Removes accumulated dirt, water-proof, non-waterproof makeup
- Has soothing lemony fragrance
- Contains some comedogenic ingredients like Wheat germ oil. Though nothing was written about its reactions on allergy-prone skin, it did not irritate my skin.
Rating: 4.5/5
Himalaya Herbals Refreshing Cleansing Milk
This is the newest inclusion in my makeup collection. It is the cheapest one and has medium thickness. This product is, no doubt, a value-for-money product because just a coin-size amount is enough for cleansing the entire face. Its consistency gives the fingers enough slip to dissolve the makeup through rubbing motion. Plus its fragrance is mild and herbal. This one surely wins the war.
- Blend of natural skin clarifying agents such as Lemon (an organic skin cleanser), Grapeseed (provides rejuvenation) and Mentha (calms down the tired skin and adds glow)
- It is priced at Rs.80 for 100ml
- Lotion with medium thickness fares normal-to-dry skin best; oily skin will have to get rid of the oiliness afterwards
- Removed every kind of makeup even waterproof eye makeup
- Has herbal smell like the toner from the same brand
- Non-comedogenic and hypoallergenic
Rating: 5/5
Lakme Gentle and Soft Deep Pore Cleanser
This one is the oldest product out of the three and is reigning Indian market for over 10 years at least. I have seen 1-2 changes in the packaging and improvement in the formula. This is the most light-weight product in this comparison and not that oily like the Lotus one. It gets seeped into the skin and gets rid of the accumulated dirts and makeup residues. It’s price range is medium and performance wise it acquires second position as well.
- Rich in skin nourishing actives including Avocado Extracts and Vitamin E
- It is priced at Rs.115 for 60ml and Rs.210 for 120ml
- Lotion with light consistency; works best for normal-to dry-skin. It goes off with splashes of water. So, oily skinned ones may or may not need a strong face wash afterwards.
- Deeply cleanses and gets rid of all kinds of makeup specially waterproof kajals, liners etc.
- Has floral fragrance. Fragrance is similar to Lakme’s Peach Milk moisturizer
- Nothing mentioned about its allergy causing property but did not cause any adverse reaction to my skin. Contains comedogenic ingredient Steric Acid.
