Saree or Sari is one of the best investment a lady can make. It’s not limited to just traditional wear, and can be carried gracefully at any occasion or event. It can be a special garment that is passed through generations or it can be something as simple as a daily wear. Every body type can look beautiful in a saree. A saree covers you aesthetically. It shows only how much you would allow it to. There are numerous ways to wear a saree, there are numerous ways to style it. And there are several ways you can invest just the minimal and can still look stylish. The charm of a saree is in the fact that it has never been hard coded that you must wear it a certain way only. It totally depends upon your comfort and taste. Let me pour few pointers in the same direction for you if you are a beginner with sarees, or bit tight on budget or time.
Choose The Right Type Of Saree
Choosing the right fabric is very crucial to make your saree wearing a nice experience. You know your preference very well. You must choose the fabric of the saree according to the climate, your comfort level and event type. Cotton/ south cotton sarees are very apt for daily wear and preferred by working women because of the comfort they provide. Synthetic material based sarees are lightweight and make great choice for casual outings or small functions.
Georgette, Chiffon, Net & Tissue are some other materials that are lightweight but may go up in the range depending on the embroidery or design. Personally I feel most comfortable in lightweight chiffon sarees with beautiful prints. They really can give a quick makeover to your personality.
Invest In Your Blouse
This is the key to get the look you want. IF you want a stylish look with a plain or simple saree, invest in your blouse. You can buy ready made blouses that are trendy or get one stitched to your fit and taste. You can go for vibrant colors and oomph up your look. You can pair these blouses with other sarees from your wardrobe an d look stylish every time you wear one.
Drape The Saree The Right Way
Draping does the trick. If you want to look a simple sober girl, cover up your curves by wearing the pallu open on your arm. If you want to give a bold look, pleat your pallu and tuck it on your shoulder. also, If you have nice waist, you can wear the saree just below your naval otherwise you can wear the saree over your naval. So it’s totally up to your comfort.
Heel Up
Heels give you a nice posture. Pick any basic pair of heels that you might be having. A black pair of heels is versatile, and I am sure, you must be already having one. Make sure the height of the heel is as much as much you are accustomed to wearing otherwise you might tip over.

Open Hair Style
Long and straight hair look the best on a saree. But any simple hairdo would do. Don’t bother to tie up your hair, I would advise. Open hair give more bold and stylish look while you are wearing a traditional dress.
Minimal Accessories
You are all set to turn the heads. Don’t go overboard with makeup or accessories. You might skin accessories completely, if you want to. You can use a pair of bangles, or nice earring, or a pendent, or a waist belt, anything that you are up for. In the picture, you might notice, I tucked a maangtikka on my waist because I didn’t have a traditional accessory with me at that time. It’s an example of how you can use your already present resources.
By now, you must have gotten an idea how easily you can turn yourself from plain Jane to oh…so stylish while wearing a saree that too without spending a bomb. Use what you already have. The guide is, the style is inside you. Mix & Match your resources and imagination. The last resource you need is your attitude. Just own the day.
