I love shopping. I love shopping without disturbance. I should be left alone in a big vast space filled with beauty & makeup products, trendy clothes, high heels and bags. What else can a girl ask for?.. hmmm money? Right, that too.
Okay, so I am all set to check out the latest products, fresh arrivals or the hottest pair of jeans. I want to check every detail, sniff the new material, and might also wanna try on the fresh arrivals just for fun. But there is someone watching me, following me closely in the store. I am aware, but choose to ignore to let him know that I am not interested. He does not care.
“Mam, have you tried this anti hair fall shampoo?” Approaches me from my back. He knows hair fall is a universal problem.
I nod, and continue further in the aisle quickly to escape him but he does not give up. He keeps on bugging me with different items on the shelve, and I leave the store leaving all the beautiful things behind. Happened many times.
Sales Persons are appointed by a store to help its customers. The sales persons are supposed to be knowledgeable. The should be well behaved and maintain a distance from the customer, offering help only when required. But they are highly pressurised to make good sales too, and that explains their nosey behaviour.
I have come up with tricks to save my day from such unwanted disturbance. Hope you will find them working for you too.
Say You Are Just Browsing
When you say you are just browsing and not going to buy stuff, they mostly lose interest in you and walk away since there is no outcome and is sheer waste of time for them.
Ask Something Very Technical
Most of the sales persons are not that sound in technical knowledge of a product for example the composition, chemical names of the ingredients. They will make a distance from you if they feel like they can’t answer to your question.
Ask For An Alternate
If you are sure, a product or a variant is not available on the shelve, ask for it. They will go fetch the product from somewhere back of the store and you will get your time to browse. Also you can describe a product to have some key ingredients and ask him to find something similar for you.
Politely Deny The Assistance
If nothing works, be straight forward and say I don’t want your assistance. The sales person might not attend to your queries further, but surely will not bug you anymore.
What is the craziest moment you have had with a sales person? Care to share?
XOXO
