Happy July People. Beauty & makeup products attracted a rate of 28% under GST. That’s kind of sad, but at least daily essential stuff is cheaper. That’s a good news. No, I am not going to bore you with GST & it’s effects on our life. I know there are experts out there which will pour more insight on the same. Coming back to my area of interest, a month has passed since I last did an empty post so it’s the time to get together all the empties of the last month. Surprisingly, this month, it’s mostly hair care stuff that I have managed to finish off completely. Have a look… I have been using Aloe Vera – Lemon DIY Serum during most of the nights, but when I feel lazy to open my refrigerator and take out the potion, I use Garnier White complete Night Cream. This is a nice Vitamin C based night cream suits my oily skin without making it oily or breaking it out. It helps to brighten skin tone & fade away scars with regular use. Himalaya Clear Complexion Whitening Face Wash is a decent face wash which is non drying & brightening in nature. It contains Licorice & White Dammer which are clinically proven to enhance complexion with regular use. I use it once a day, it cleanses skin well without drying it out. Buy here. I got Blue Heaven Nail Enamel Remover with Vitamin E as a free gift with some purchase at super market. I have been using it to remove SUGAR Tic Tac Toe Nail Enamel & others, and it definitely is a nice product costing only Rs. 50. Since it contains Vitamin E, it does not feel harsh on nails or cuticles. I might get it again sometime. Tresemme Botanique Detox & Restore Shampoo And Conditioner was a nice experience. The combo got over pretty simultaneously. Do you know Tresemme bottles are mostly half filled only. That’s why it got over in few washes, given that I use Ketomac Anti Dandruff & Anti Itching Shampoo With 2% Ketoconazole every week once a day. Buy the combo here. Juicy Chemistry is an organic brand offering nice skin & hair care products. I have tried only 2 products form the brand yet, and am impressed. Juicy Chemistry Argan & Mango Butter Hair Masque is a pre-shampoo mask, which nourished my hair & made them healthy. It has Argan Oil which works the best on my dry hair. Buy here. It is always a good thing to keep your vanity clear of unused products. If you find a product is not good enough to be used as such, then you can find out some alternate ways to use it. This way you can always keep your vanity organized. Love.

My Empties- May 2017

May is over and I missed my monthly empties post. So I am awake right now at 1.30 a.m. to prepare the list and share it with you. It’s important for me, to keep a journal of my empty stuff. This monthly post motivates me to finish stuff at hand even if I am bored of using it. This month, I managed to finish a lot of products. So it was important to put this post up here. If you are with me from a while, you must be already aware of the fact that I prefer using Vitamin C serums & night creams. Vitamin C based products help my skin to diminish scars left behind by acne while giving anti ageing effects. O3+ Agelock Vitamin C Booster Serum is a great night serum (do not use it during day time), for the effect that it gives to my skin with out breaking it out. It helps to achieve a clearer skin within few days. But one has to stop using it a bit in between, other wise skin gets used to it & it stops working. I am currently breaking off with this serum and using Garnier White Night Cream only. Rose water is a very essential element in skin care. You can use it as toner, in a mask or as a mist. It is multi usage product. I like to use Patanjali Gulab Jal/Rose Water. Though I have never really thought about the effects that it gives to my skin, I just find it economical. I bought Za Perfect Solution Youth Whitening Serum during last winter, because it is a great day serum that moisturizes skin while giving brightening effect. Not purchasing it any time soon, since my skin do not need that much moisture now. Patanjali Soundrya Aloe Vera Gel is already famous in a short span of time. It is as popular as it’s original version. I have already got a bigger tube of this aloe vera gel. I have heard a lot of Neem’s effect to clear out acne. Neem is a good blood purifier. I spotted Patanjali Neem Ghanvati at a local store few months back, I picked it up. It is advised to take one tablet twice a day daily. I am quite regular with this tablet which smells & tastes like actual Neem, but I have not noticed any measurable change in acne breakouts or skin complexion. Guess I am not getting it again. Pond’s Triple Vitamin Moisturizing Lotion is a very old body lotion. It makes me feel Nostalgic. I remember my mom started using it first. It smell very good & reminds me of her, while I am away from her. It is a heavy duty body lotion and mainly suitable for winter & dry skin. I get this every winter. My current favorite eye cream is Oriflame Optimals White Seeing Is Believing. It is an effective, budget friendly, light textured & fast absorbing eye cream. Though it can not miraculously erase dark circles, but it helps to brighten the eye area & minimize fine lines under eyes. I have numerous small glass pots of this eye cream, which I just can’t throw into the trash bin. Maybelline Baby Lips is one of the best lip balm. Every girl has some of them. I too have got few & managed to finish Wow Candy Raspberry flavor by the end of the month. I also managed to finish Maybelline Gel Liner in Black which is a renowned gel liner and favorite of all girls. I did not use Incolor Lovers Rough Lipstick much, but my son used it as his crayon. He literally drew things with this lipstick & the lipstick met it’s fate. I don’t generally use blush/cheek stain. I got this cheek stain, from City Color in one of my Fab Bag edition last year. I have used it few times, it is good in color & texture but little low at color pay off. Not purchasing it again. This concludes my empties post for May 2017. I hope you too somehow find my post motivating to finish your stuff instead of it occupying storage in your dresser. Make space in your cabinet for new stuff by using the old one first. My Empties : April 2017

The month end is here. When it’s month closing, people working in financial institutions/departments go crazy with work. No mental peace for few days. In software industry it’s not like that. We start developing a software with all mental peace, following the very standard procedure ensuring quality. It eats up more than half of the time period promised to the client. Now the countdown starts. The client wants to see some working demos. We manage somehow. To deliver the final product, endless sleepless & pizza nights start. Seems like the project is never going to finish. All the quality standards are set aside, shortcuts are taken & with unknown bugs sleeping inside, a beta version is released just to bargain for more time to deliver a better system. The cycle goes on & with every new release client pushes some more features, which buy us some more time. The product is always under maintenance but earning profits for the client. Everybody is happy. I am no more into the industry, but I always miss it, the work culture, the milestones achieved while gulping down 2 cups of coffee in a row, & even the silly bugs that arise since the programmer copy pasted some functionality from another source code without making required changes. The list is endless, the charm is beyond imagination. Coming back to the month end, I have lined up few products that goes to trash bin today. I managed to finish some skin & hair care products by this month. Have a look. I have mentioned numerous times that my Clean n Clear Oil Free Moisturizer is my all time favorite moisturizer. I have used gels to moisturize my skin but I do not like the initial stretchy feeling that the gels give. This moisturizer is perfect for the summer & monsoon session. Just after winter was over & summer was knocking on my door, my skin was confused, it was not oily altogether, but had some rough & dry patches, that’s when Za True White Emulsion came to rescue. It is watery serum, gets absorbed instantly & leaves skin moisturized without giving heavy feeling. Lacto Calamine does not need any introduction for the work it does for oily skins specially during summer. It keeps skin matte for 3-4 hours. Evens out skin tone & is dirt cheap. You can spot it in my vanity every season. I have been neglecting my eye area from a while, bit due to recent travelling. I did not carry any eye cream with me, & now I could see some darkened eye area. I am going to repurchase Oriflame Optimals Seeing Is Believing Eye Cream since it works as good as any high end product but is very reasonable. Coming to hair care, I have been using Lancy’s MABH hair oil from a while now & I have been quite liking it. I received 2 bottles of the oil from Lancy 2-3 months back. This reminds me that I should do a follow up post on my hair length. To arrest horrendous hair fall, I can vouch for Japakusum Scalp Lotion. No matter what the reason is, this lotion will stop it upto 80-90%. It is herbal & gives nice cooling effect to the scalp. From last 2 weeks I have not used the oil or the scalp lotion, but I plan to start using the both again. I will conclude the post by giving a good news, I am going to host a new giveaway very soon. I have not decided the giveaway prize yet, but that is going to be fabulous for sure. Stay tuned.

My Empties : February 2017

Hello Girls, The time has come. Time for the post of the month where I show you what I managed to finish by the month end. I have been doing this since the starting of my blog. This really motivates me finish products that would otherwise stay at the back of my closet unused. When I can not use them as they are supposed to be used, I find out alternate ways. Let me show you what I managed to finish by today. There is nothing major, but just 4-5 products out of which some I won’t repurchase because I am either bored of using them, or I have found better alternates. Let’s talk in detail. I like to use colored mascaras. During a weak moment I grabbed 3 colored mascaras from MUA– blue, pink & green. The mascaras turned out very well & I have had my share of fun looks with them. I mostly used the pink shade, hence it is over while the other 2 are still going to serve my eyes with their intense color. I might not repurchase this again since I have used a lot of pink on my eyes lately. Next is a black liquid eyeliner from Maybelline, I do not use much liquid liners but somehow it got over pretty soon within a couple of applications. Glad it’s over, I found it quite boring & required time. While I am hooked to sketch liners more. Blue Heaven Mascara, is another product, which made it’s way to trash bin today. I admit I did not use it as mascara. I found it was a worthless mascara.Did not appeal to me. I used it to cover gray hair, during emergencies when I did not have time to colour my hair. Told ya, I manage to use stuff in any way if I really want them to. Next comes the old favorite Lacto Calamine which is a boon to Oily skin. It moisturizes while controlling oil. It is a permanent resident in my kitty. I do not use it everyday, but sometimes I feel like putting nothing , then I reach out for this lotion. It evens out my skin tone while giving a matte finish. Never breaks my skin but soothes it down since it contains Kaolin. My current favorite BB/CC cream is Lakme. I used Ponds BB cream for years, but these days loving Lakme CC Cream. Already stocked it. The CC Cream is not much on moisture level but has SPF 20. The newly launched CC cream from Lakme comes with SPF 30. It initially gives white cast but later settles down in subtle glow. Good option for everyday look. I also cannot live without Faceclin Gel, an acne ointment. Since I can break out any time of the month. Sometimes I feel lazy to put it on & I really regret the next day. If I put this on a new comer, the zit never makes it big. Finally a low profile face wash. It is a multi purpose product- Cetaphil Gentle Cleanser. I use it as a cleanser, face mask & makeup remover. I don not use it much during summer but I still keep a backup in case I run out of my makeup remover. That was all about the empties post of this month. I hope to finish more product next month. This really helps me clean out my stash of the unwanted products & make place for new ones. See you soon. Love.

My Empties : January 2017

Hi, January 2017, comes to an end today. Officially the new year is no more new now. Most of us would have gotten over our new year resolutions by now. But I hope their are some heroes who have kept their promises and still going strong. If you have gotten so far, you can definitely carry it through out the year. I am sticking up to my routine of making a list of empties at the end of every month. Here is my list of the products, I managed to hit the bottom of by now. Enjoy. Himalaya Natural Glow Fairness Cream This cream served me really well in keeping my face matte and evening out my skin tone. It is affordable and easily available. The real test of this cream will begin during summer, when my face becomes literally an oil factory. Read it’s review here. Nivea Whitening Smooth Skin Deodorant I totally heart this roll on deodorant. I love its mild smell even though it does not stay for long. Also like it’s effect in my skin. It lasts only about a month or so, but it’s worth every penny. Reviewed here. FARCOM Mea Natura Olive Shampoo I hate the fact that it is not available in India. It is one of the best shampoos that have worked on my dry hair. It is an Olive oil shampoo and fabulously moisturizes my dry hair ends. Reviewed here. AHAGlow Face Wash I totally love it more during winter. Reason is simple. I really lack of interest in doing the regular scrubs and other skin DIYs and this face wash certainly does that for me. It contains Glycolic Acid which exfoliates my skin at a micro level that too gently. I do use a scrub but not regular due to harsh winters in Delhi. Even washing my face at night becomes a really big deal. I use this face wash at night. The face wash has been reviewed here. Pond’s Pimple Clear Face Wash I use it as my AM face wash. I would say it’s not something that can help me with my hormonal breakouts but, yeah, it helps to certain extent to heal the zits faster because it contains Salicylic Acid. Reviewed here. Maybelline Baby Lips I don’t think I need to say anything about this baby. It is favorite of most if the girls out there. I actually could not manage to finish it. My son has a habit to hide my lippies & lip balm whenever he can get a hold onto and later draw long horizontal line on walls with them. This lip balm was really unfortunate to meet its end this way. My Empties : December 2016

I didn’t manage to hit the bottom of many products this month, but there are still some products, that made to this list today. I feel good, whenever I manage to finish a product completely, it makes space in my stash for another product. Since I have started doing these empties post, I really push myself to finish products, so at last the cost/price of the product is justified, and my stash is not filled with unused products. Actually anyone can do this, in case you are a compulsive shopper & hoarder, you should take this new year resolution to finish at least 5 products every month. Even if there is a product not quite useful to me in it’s original form, I try to use it some other way, like a shampoo is multi purpose, so is a moisturiser. Beautiful Perfumed Body Spray Only today I realised, I have not done any post about this wonderful body spray. It has my kind of smell- flowery & powdery sweet. It retails at Rs. 170, but available at cheaper prices from Amazon.in. I have already stocked up this deodorant, and will be doing a detailed review on this. Update : It’s reviewed here. L’Oreal Paris 6 Oil Nourish Nourishing Shampoo I am not much impressed by the L’oreal hair care products, but 6 Oil Nourish has been a hit with my dry hair. It amazingly soothes down the frizz & dryness in my hair, that they feel & look smooth and healthy. It contains 6 oils as Argan, Olive, Almond, Coconut, Jojoba, Camelina. I have used this shampoo during dry days also, and it never disappointed me. It retails at Rs. 155. AHAGlow Face Wash This face wash contain Glycolic Acid which unclogs pores and helps skin turnover at a faster speed to bring out clear and glowy skin. These days, I have been mostly using Pond’s Pimple Clear Face Wash, to try it out to review. AHAGlow helped me survive summers. Clean n Clear Oil Free Moisturiser It is my HG moisturiser, be it summer, winter or rainy days, it calms down my skin needs within seconds. I have been using it from many years now. It is water based and affordable moisturiser. Will try to post the review soon. Spa Ceylon Green Mint Cooling Foot Scrub It is great foot scrub. I received this foot scrub in one of my fab bag subscription. I love the consistency and scrubbing granules of this scrub. But it is quite costly, about 1000 bucks for 200 grams. Patanjali Aloe Vera Moisturising I got it for my hubby, he has dry skin. I use it to moisturise my hands every now and then. So we collectively managed to finish this tub. It contains shea butter, coconut, wheat germ and olive oil, which makes it a nice moisturiser for dry skin. So these were the products I managed to finish. Do you keep track of your unused products? Today is month end, and it’s time for the empties post of the month. Have a look at what I managed to finish by November 2016 end. I totally heart Vaseline Cocoa Body Lotion & Joy Body Lotion. They are fabulous in moisturisation and smell nice too. I have already done a a review on Za Perfect Solution Serum. It is fast absorbing, light yet moisturising serum. Clean n Clear oil free moisturizer is my all time favourite moisturizer. But Olay Total Effects, I am never buying it again. My son again grabbed few lippies from my lipstick drawer when I was not around. Few managed to escape but Lakme Red Coat and Fran Wilson Mood Matcher could not survive. Also managed to finish Lakme Absolute Foundation, it’s review is coming up shortly, it’s lying somewhere in drafts. Like the lipsticks, my son also ruined this Miss Gold Eye Palette. It was given by my lovely sister in law. I know she would be heart broken after seeing it like this. But, I am thinking to use it in some lip palette DIY (my upcoming project).
