It moisturizes the skin very well without feeling greasy or chipchip. I do not want to bad mouth Mamaearth, but I really regretted purchasing Mamaearth baby lotion for Aarav. Their baby lotion is powdery and thick, it takes forever to get absorbed. Mother Sparsh baby lotion contains Organic Shea Butter, Avocado Oil, and Coconut oil. The key ingredients explain the effectiveness of the lotion. suitable for all skin types, the baby lotion is a great takeaway from the range. Ingredients Price Rs. 395 for 200ml Mother Sparsh Plant Powered Natural Face Cream Aarav’s skin is normal, he never needed a separate skin cream even during winter. HE anyways hates using anything over his face. But some babies have extra dry skin and they might need a face cream. This product is totally optional. If you use baby lotion, then you might not need to use separate face cream for your kid. Mother Sparsh Plant Powered Natural Face Cream is enriched with Organic Coconut Oil, Jojoba Oil, and Wheatgerm Oil. The face cream promises to protect your baby’s skin from Psoriasis, Eczema etc. I could not test their claim as Aarav’s skin is perfectly healthy since birth. The cream is a bit thick in texture but gets absorbed really fast. It has the same fragrance as the baby wash and baby lotion. Skin feels soft and hydrated after using this cream. Ingredients Price Rs. 349 for 50g Mother Sparsh Water-Based Baby Wipes I have written a lot about Mother Sparsh baby wipes. I even performed a flame test to test the purity of these wipes as Mother Sparsh claims. So, I am quite impressed with the quality of the wipes. The wipes are unscented and thick as a face towel. I have used these wipes for Aarav as well as for me. Ingredients Purified Water, Polyaminopropyl Biguanide, Sodium Benzoate, Glucose Vegetable Origin Wheat, Calendula Extract. Price A resealable pack for 72 baby wipes for Rs. 299 Mother Sparsh Natural Sunscreen Lotion I feel kids do not get enough of the sun anyways. And they should be exposed to the sun every day for some time so that their bodies can make adequate amounts of Vitamin D. I don’t let Aarav wear sunscreen unless he has to go under the sun for continuous hours which happens rarely. If you like to put on sunscreen on your kids you can definitely do so. Mother Sparsh Natural Sunscreen Lotion is a nice option. Going by its ingredients, it contains natural ingredients that provide a shield against the harmful rays of the sun. This sunscreen is free of Titanium Oxide which is considered to be harmful to sensitive skin. The formula is water-resistant, nonsticky, and easy to absorb. The fragrance of the sunscreen is also quite mild and pleasant. Ingredients Aloe Vera Oil, Calendula Oil, Rice Bran Oil, Coconut Oil, Cocoa Butter, Shea Butter, Wheatgerm Oil. Price Rs. 349 for 100ml. Mother Sparsh Plant Powered Laundry Detergent For Babies It is important to use a good quality laundry detergent fo your bay/kid as your kid might be allergic to the strong and harmful chemicals present in the ordinary laundry detergent. A close friend of mine had a baby and her baby started receiving rashes and allergy despite using natural baby lotion and creams. Then her pediatrician suggested switching to natural laundry detergent for her baby’s clothes. And her laundry detergent turned out to be the real culprit. I too always relied on using a mild and natural laundry detergent for Aarav’s clothes. I have tried Patanjali’s detergent, but I was not much satisfied. Now I am using Mother Sparsh laundry detergent to wash Aarav’s clothes. Though the detergent is not impressed with the cleanliness and I have to make great efforts to get rid of the stains from his clothes. But I am assured he is not getting exposed to harsh chemicals. How To Use I dip his clothes in a bucket full of water and about a cupful of Mother Sparsh liquid detergent. After 10-15 minutes I rub on the stains and rinse the clothes thoroughly. The detergent lathers a lot hence takes a lot of water to get out of the clothes completely, which is kind of a turn-off. After Air drying the clothes, the clothes have a nice and mild smell left which feels good. It goes away after a few minutes though. Ingredients Price Rs. 649 for 1000ml. You can also get a refill for Rs. 349 for 500ml. Mother Sparsh Baby Liquid Cleanser When I became a mommy, I used to wash Aarav’s toys in soap water and I was still not sure if the toys were clean enough. For his mild bottles using the dishwashing liquid did not seem like a good idea. Anyhow my new mommy days are over, glad Mother Sparsh brought this much-awaited baby liquid cleanser. Basically this liquid cleanser is for those baby items, which cannot be washed using normal soap and water, like babies’ bottles, toys, or accessories. These things should be cleaned on a regular interval to keep your baby protected. But water dilutes the strength of normal soap. Also, there are chemicals present in ordinary soap that we don’t want a baby to get exposed to. Mother Sparsh Baby Liquid Cleanser is a clear runny gel which can be diluted in water and could be used to clean anything a baby touches. Such a lifesaver for mommies. The liquid contains green apple and basil which are tough at stains but gentle on baby. This liquid can be used to clean baby’s bottles, nipples, feeding accessories, and toys. Ingredients Price Rs. 449 for 500ml. Refil available at Rs. 399 for 500ml. Mother Sparsh Natural Insect Repellent An insect repellent is a must-have for babies and kids especially as the summers start. Somehow I feel babies nad kids attract insects a lot. If there is a single mosquito in the room, Aarav would get definitely get bitten. I make sure he wears a natural mosquito repellent all the time. Mother Sparsh Natural Insect Repellent contains Lemon Grass Oil, Eucalyptus Oil, and Citronella Oil. all these oils are the best guard against insects. The repellent keeps away mosquitos, fleas, and ants. The smell of the mosquito repellent is obviously strong for kids and babies. Aarav especially does not like it. So I use a fabric roll on for him. This repellent could be used for babies above 3 months. The product comes ina spray packaging, hence it is easy to use. Ingredients Lemongrass, Eucalyptus, Citronella, Camphor, Base Price Rs. 249 for 100ml Mother Sparsh Anti Insect Fabric Roll-On As I mentioned, Aarav does not like to put much on his skin, a mosquito repellent is a big no-no for him. So I use a fabric roll-on instead. Mother Sparsh Anti Insect Fabric Roll-On has almost the same ingredients as the insect repellent but it goes on fabric. It works perfectly to repel mosquitoes and insects. Ingredients Lemongrass, Eucalyptus, Citronella, Camphor, Base Price Rs. 99 for 12ml Mother Sparsh Plant-Powered Turmeric After Bite Balm We protect our kids as much as we can. Stil sometimes, a mosquito or an insect bite can leave a baby/kid irritated and in pain. It happened recently. Aarav got a mosquito bite while playing on the rooftop and he was constantly scratching his arm. That’s when Mother Sparsh Turmeric Balm came handy. Most of the times, you are required to narrate the activity, help your kid to perform certain tasks or assist them with some messy errands, while it all assures great fun together. The Happy Tracker The happy tracker describes the how your child is going to get benefited as he or she progresses with the activities. Activity 1 – Underwater Magnet Mania The very first activity involves a small activity based on the marine life while creating practical daily item (fridge magnet). This activity will help your kid get familiar with the life inside the sea. My son did not know any thing about shells. But this activity got him interested in knowing what a shell is, how it’s formed and he had great fun in crafting one out of Plaster of Paris provided in the activity box. The Activity 1 contains, Plaster Of Paris (PoP), A set of colors, a tiny paint brush, shell molds, a pair of gloves and magnets. The plaster Of Paris can be used to create shells using the shell mold. I did this part myself. And let him paint the shells once they are dry. He painted the shells with precision. He chose multiple colors to paint the shells. This activity emphasizes on being body smart as well as picture smart. Activity 2 – Windy Windmills The 2nd activity involves making a windmill. In the activity set, the necessary items are provided such as the base, roof , the fan blades of the windmill along with glue. This activity involves following simple steps and creating a windmill. The main concept of this activity is to getting the kids familiar with the purpose of windmill and hence forth using natural resources for day to day life. Activity 3 – Up In The Sky Next comes the birds. This activity involves being Nature Smart, Logic Smart, Word Smart & Picture smart. It involves getting the kids familiar with birds and their nests. 2 tree cutouts are provided along with bird stickers that are supposed to be pasted upon the trees using volcro dots provided in the activity. This activity set improves the kids’ knowledge about birds and their nests. This whole activity is quite short but quite enticing. Activity 4 – My Grassy Friend This activity emphasizes upon being body smart, logic smart, word smart, self smart, nature smart and picture smart. In the activity set, we receive, a pot, a coco peta, a sock, a popsickle stick, craft eyes and seeds. This activity involves, potting few seeds in the pot and growing your own grass. This activity is bit long term but will give immense pleasure to the kid once he sees the grass in his pot. Activity 5 – Lemony Lemonade Every kid has a chef inside him and this activity brings out the chef in your kid. In this set you are provided with a decorative umbrella, a stirrer, glass paint and a chef cap. You can help him set up a kitchen top using the things and ask him to prepare a lemonade for the whole family. You would not believe how tasty the drink turns out to be. Activity 6 – Green Charades Kids love to play pretend. Activity no 6 is themed as Green Charades. You are provided with various picture cards on the back of which the details about the picture is scribbled. This activity could be carried out with your kid and his friends. Form two teams. Ask one member of a team to act as the card while his team members would guess the picture on the card. Activity 7 – Reduce, Reuse and Recycle This is one of the concept that we must introduce to or children at early age so that they can adopt it and apply it since childhood. Activity 7 helps you introduce the concept of 3R’s in an easy way. Activity 8 – My Word Garden This activity involves intelligence on the basis of nature, logic and picture. You are provided with a picture board along with petal cut outs and a story book. Read the story book -“Growing Flowers” trying him to read few words by himself. And then perform the activity. The petal cutouts needs to be placed on the picture board and the garden will be ready. Activity 9 – Workbooks This activity contains another 9 worksheets involving coloring, counting and hence developing logic and creativity. The tasks does not seem over the top neither do the activities. But as a parent, your role is very well laid out. My 4yrs old kid really liked the kit. He seemed really excited to undertake the activities and tasks as soon he returns from his school. By now he has completed 2 activities. I am amused how every personal care brand is launching it’s own range of baby products. But it’s not about a brand’s business, it’s about the health of a precious baby. How does a brand make sure the products are safe and gentle to be used on a baby’s skin. They claim it’s Ayurvedic or it’s natural, but that might be just a claim, how many of us literally go and check each and every ingredient mentioned on a baby product. Recently VLCC introduced it’s baby care range as VLCC Ayurveda Baby Care, but would you trust a newcomer when it comes to the health of our baby? Personally, I have always used Himalaya Baby for my son since he was a baby. Later I switched to MamaEarth. I try to stick to natural brands when it comes to his personal care needs. Now he is 4 years old, and I think his skin has gotten quite habitual of his surroundings, the pollutants, the unintentional chemicals that he is exposed to (we just can’t protect them 100%), and his skin has never gotten any bad reaction or allergy. I tested few VLCC baby products on him, because he was really excited. I am going to share how he liked the products. Will also share my opinion on the products, given that VLCC products have never fared good on my skin. Stay tuned. I will be talking about the products one by one. What Preservatives Are Used In VLCC Ayurveda Baby Care Products? There is no way to give a decent shelf life to products. Every brand uses them. The choice f preservatives determines how safe the products are to be used in general. When it comes to baby products it’s of high importance to use the most safe preservative. Phenoxyethanol : This is one of the preservative used by VLCC Baby Care. This preservative is safe, and non toxic synthetic. But if inhaled it can definitely can cause lung irritation. Ethylhexyl : When used in moderate amounts, it is safe to be used on skin. VLCC Ayurveda Baby Massage Oil The main ingredients of this massage oil are Almond oil, Olive oil & Tulsi. The massage oil also contains clarified Cow’s butter. This massage oil comes in a clear plastic bottle with a white flip top cap. The packaging is sturdy and the oil does not leak. Ingredients as well as the product details are provided at the back of the bottle. The oil has quite herbal smell as Patanjali balm. The smell can actually relieve your baby of nasal congestion if there is any. The oil is quite light in texture, its runny and absorbs fast. My son loves to have bed time massages some time(once in a while actually), and that’s when I use this oil. It’s good in terms of the usability. I really hate to use thick oils as they can actually stain the clothes. Price: VLCC Ayurveda Baby Massage Oil is priced at INR 90 for 100ml. It’s available widely online and offline. A massage oil is something to enhance the bond between a baby and a mother. You can actually use any oil, what matters is the quality time that you two spend with each other. VLCC Ayurveda Baby Head To Toe Wash A baby head to toe wash is very handy. It can be used on scalp and skin of a baby. VLCC Ayurveda baby wash does not contain parabenes (as other VLCC baby products), and this is major plus point for me. I can use products that may contain parabenes on myself, but I will never use them over my son’s skin. The wash comes in an opaque white colored bottle which contains sky blue colored label at the front and a white label at the back stating all the product information. The wash itself is yellow colored, runny and has flower’y and pleasant smell. It lathers well. The only fact that I don’t like about this wash is the fact that it leaves a slippery feeling behind after wining it out with water. Price: VLCC Ayurveda Baby Head To Toe Wash is priced at INR 140 for 100ml. VLCC Ayurveda Baby Cream A baby cream must be thick enough to treat dry skin. But it should spread easily on her skin. VLCC Ayurveda Baby Cream is white in color, creamy and mildly fragmented. I use this cream on my son sometimes when his skin feels very dry. It instantly moisturizes his skin making it soft. It does not feel sticky though and gets absorbed with little bit of massage. Price: The baby cream is available at INR 130 for 100gms. VLCC Ayurveda Baby Lotion VLCC Ayurveda Baby Lotion, is light in consistency than the baby cream. This is everyday lotion that I use for my son. His skin is normal and this lotion is enough for him. It gets absorbed easily and leaves skin happy. Price:The lotion is available for INR 85 for 100ml VLCC Ayurveda Baby Diaper Cream This is a thick cream which is supposed to be used as a diaper cream. A diaper cream must keep the diaper area nourished and protective so that the baby does not get rashes. My son is above diapering age so I could not test it on him. But I actually applied it on my under arm when I got a rash while working out. It definitely healed it in no time. Price: THe diaper cream is priced at INR 165 for 100gm.
