I am not much of a blush person, I hardly wear one because I hardly need one. I am not being narcissist. All I mean is since I have acne spots & hyper pigmentation, my cheeks are generally flushed. Still, I like to carry one sometimes when I really am in the mode of some real color, or my face looks flat due to foundation (Lakme Absolute is one such foundation).
If I remember correctly my first blush was from Maybelline. It used to come in a black case with see through lid and a scratchy brush to apply the blush. I used to use my fingers to apply the blush though. After that, I think I have used few more blushes from Lakme, MAC, NYX & Inglot. Right now I only have four blushes out of which only one is used most of the times. Others have vanished away somewhere, only my toddler knows.
Makeup Revolution London Vivid Blush Lacquer in O’ BOY
I love it. I haven’t worn any other blush since I got this. I was just browsing through fab bag website while I came across this. I read some reviews & viewed swatches and I instantly fell in love with it. Sells at Rs.750.
Consistency & Colour – It is not a cream or powder but a dense liquid blush. The consistency is in between liquid & cream. It is cool pink toned blush, which will mostly suit fair/wheatish skin tones. Since, it is quite dense in consistency, it is easy to apply but needs quick blending as it dries off quickly.
Pigmentation & Staying Power – It is quite pigmented, hence quite less product is needed. It lasts long. Its staying power is decent. It starts fading after 4-5 hours.
City Color Cheek Stain in Mauve
There was a phase when I was hooked on cream blushes. I horded cream blushes from MAC, Inglot & NYX. The NYX blush stayed my favourite for quite a long since they were easy on pocket. Recently I stumbled upon City Color Cosmetics cream blushes. There were so many shaded. I picked Mauve. It retails at Rs. 300 only. Quite affordable… huh?
Consistency & Colour– It is a cream blush, a very creamy one. It comes in a stick just like a lipstick with a clear cap on it. Its really easy to apply & blend. The shade Mauve, that I got, is not really mauve but a shimmery peachy shade. These are known as cheek stains. I also have got some lip stains from this brand which I adore.
Pigmentation & Staying Power– Pigmentation of this blush is average. Since it is quite shimmery, you actually don’t notice much color, but just shimmers. It looks good actually. Stays on cheeks for 3-4 hours.
Maybelline Cheeky Glow in Fresh Coral
Maybelline is such a brand which offers awesome products even if you are on a budget. The cheeky Glow blushes were quite a hit when they were introduced. The shades were nice. It retails at only Rs.250.
Consistency & Colour– For an oily skin girl, its good to use powder blushes especially during summers. Powder blushes stays for long and gives mattifying look. This blush from maybelline is also a powder based blush. You can just grab a blush brush, swirl onto the blush, tap the excess and apply it on your cheeks. So classy, isn’t it?
The shade Fresh Coral is kinda leaning more towards pink, but suits my wheatish tone.
Pigmentation & Staying Power– I am not impressed by the pigmentation. You have to take a lot of product to actually show on your cheeks. You have to apply multiple layers of the product your cheeks to build the pigmentation. Staying power is not impressive on oily skin.
Purely Pro Blush in Universal
I also used to own another shade in this blush ‘Lovely‘ which I gave away to a dear friend as she liked it quite much.
Consistency & Colour– The shade, Universal, is another powder blush in pink with some shimmer. Its not as cool toned as the one from Makeup Revolution, but is rather a warm pink. It will suit all skin tones.
Pigmentation & Staying Power– It is quite pigmented as opposed to Maybelline’s cheeky glow. One swipe is enough to give your cheeks pink hue. Also staying power is 3-4 hours. I prefer this over Maybelline’s cheeky glow.
I didn’t swatch the blushes separately just to give you a view of different/similar the shades are from each other as it gets easier to compare them with each other.
How many do you own?
Stay High, Stay Fab.
